Reuters) - Fifteen people were shot, one fatally, at a packed nightclub in Cincinnati, Ohio, early on Sunday, and police said they believed at least two shooters may have been involved.
The motive was still unclear, but Cincinnati Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate said on Twitter that "there are no indications this incident is terrorism related."

The nightclub has off-duty police officers on the payroll and they were patrolling the parking lot. The one DOA was a 27 year old African-American male according to recent live broadcasts. The Cincinnati Mayor, John Cranley, noted that people entering the club are usually patted down or "Wanded" to check for weapons.

Now the police are reporting 15 injured

no arrests, the Night club was packed. The vice-mayor noted that this establishment was not normally one that was the site of police responses in the past and it was being considered for a movie production being filmed in the Cincinnati area. The fire chief also reported that while there were 100s of people it was not over capacity. The establishment has a liquor license and the main issue the police are addressing right now (other than finding the shooter(s) is how firearms were brought into a place where the bouncers normally patted down patrons or searched with metal detectors. Two victims are in critical condition, 7 in stable condition,

Apparently a fight broke out before the shooting

as of now, the shooter(s) are still at large and the latest police press conference suggests more than one shooter

the nightclub-which has had several names-apparently has had some prior cases of violence-the picture painted of the place is less wholesome than initial reports.

While this area used to be a lower class white area (disparagingly referred to as "river rats" or "hill jacks" in local slang) and most of the violence was biker related, this club has become mainly African-American and the person killed was Black. As of NOW there is no indication of any inter-racial angle to the violence

When I hear "night club shooting" the first thing that comes to mind is gangs.

What I saw was that there were 3 shooters involved, but they are looking for 2. No mention of anyone in custody, so that is kind of weird.

Yeah, I was surprised because I used to live about 4-5 miles from that place and when I was a kid, the east end and "California" area of Cincinnati was biker turf and most of the violence down there was biker related. Indeed, a guy I knew (he's dead so its past the point of any issue) was a Green Beret who was a biker and he lived out that way during his time in the Nam. He was home on leave and riding one day before he left to go back for his third tour and some one percenters figured it would be fun to beat the crap out of a guy on a bike in uniform. Big mistake, the Sgt was packing and a couple bikers bought the farm. As I recall (I was like 8 when this happened but I researched it 18 years later) it was written off as biker violence because there were about 20-35 biker related turf war shootings in that area every year and the local constabulary didn't much care that two scumbags were no longer causing issues in their turf).

So when I heard where the shooting was, my first initial thought was say the Iron Horsemen mixing it up with the Invaders or something like that. I was incorrect.

the story keeps changing as to how many shooters

no one has come forward and stated that it was either

1 or more shooters acting in concert or

a shooter who then drew return fire from someone else packing

apparently the owner has tried to keep things orderly-he had 4 off duty CPD cops patrolling the parking lot (they cannot act as bouncers) and normally patrons are patted down or "waved" for weapons. apparently there were several hundred patrons there an the shootings took place at 130 AM. One witness was a guy who has a trailer at a local business who is sort of the night watchman and he gave a sketchy description of someone who MAY have been a shooter.

The real story here is that alcohol and weapons are not a good mix. LOL.

the bar is a "weapons free" zone and as I mentioned, the ownership tried to prevent people from carrying. so anyone there who had a firearm was in violation of the property owner's rules and if they were drinking, that's a felony under ohio law. So is, btw, shooting a bunch of people assuming most if not all of those shot, had not done anything that put a reasonable citizen in fear of his life or limb.

So is the lesson here from our resident gun nut that if only they all had guns, there would have been no injuries

Notice lack of question mark...

All bars in Texas are weapons free zones, but incidents still happen. I was playing a place near Shepherd Texas called the Country Road inn, when these guys called the Becket Clan started a huge fight. The bartender pulled a shotgun out from behind the bar and made them leave. About half an hour later they did a drive by shooting on the place. Bullets were flying all over the place. While Charlie Fenn, our lead player was doing a guitar solo, he leaned over and said "I don't know about you, but after this song I'm getting the **** out of here. LOL.

What makes this funny is that I had brought my wife with me. She has schizophrenia, and I told her "This is way out in the country, nice and restful. You will love it". LOL.

BTW, we stayed on stage while the drive-by was going on, and finished the song, and got a "standing O" for not diving for cover. Somehow, they thought we were badasses. LOL.

I cannot find any post that even comes close to saying what you have said. We understand that you get mad at gun owners because the politicians the NRA supports often don't consider your pet issue to be one worthy of their concern

federal law and state law makes being drunk while packing a violation. In Ohio, you can sit at a bar while packing but you violate the law if you are drinking. I know this to be true and I often sit at bars to eat but I don't drink.

Even before 2004 (when CCW was passed in ohio) a bar keeper could be armed in his place of business assuming he wasn't drinking himself (at the bars I have attended, that was a firing offense for a bartender to be drinking on the job).

If I took my gun to Brazil, would that make me a brazil nut?

You can't do that in Texas. Take a gun into a bar here, and you can drink all the water you want, but it's still up to 10 years in the pen. Bartenders can be armed if they have a LTC, but they cannot drink. That would also be a felony, and the bar could lose it's liquor license..

I like our laws better because so many of our popular chain restaurants-Fridays, Ruby Tuesdays, Applebys have a bar but most people go into those places to eat though some are there merely to drink at the bar. The law was changed and it makes sense to not ban someone who is there to eat only as I do. Since I am a regular I usually sit at the bar at one place but they recently put up no CCW so I don't carry there

I usually leave my gun at home. I probably actually carry it one or 2 times a month.

In AZ it's illegal to carry in a place that serves liquor unless you have a CCW. I'm not sure that anybody really pays attention to the rule (no permit required for concealed carry). I suppose that if you're open carrying it might be an issue but that's not something I've run into. Like you guys, it's illegal to drink while carrying.

I don't always carry but I have a SIG in the console of my car and a SW 40 in a lock box in the trunk. I always pack when I am at a movie theater etc. I spend lots of time at a target range-so I have a gun there openly

which is a law a state certainly has the proper power to enact and which I have no issues with

One suspect arraigned today. 1.7 MILLION dollar bond. The other suspect-the one charged with the murder of Mr. Spikes, is in critical condition in the hospital.

Am I the only person who hasn't heard anything about this in the news?

I imagine if it were a Muslim shooter, it would be on TV non stop.

Or if all the victims were black or gay then maybe but unfortunately those deaths don't further anyone's agenda so it's on to something to exploit.

Yes, a Dylan Roof hate crime would get a lot of coverage too. I guess this is just "gang violence" and the media is uninterested.

I really haven't seen any coverage, but I have heard about it from local people. I also remember the locals taking about the family that got killed outside of Cincinnati. I remember they lived in multiple trailers and one victim was a little baby. I am sure Turtle Dude knows what I am talking about.

I hope they caught the person. He killed off four generations of a whole family.

While I have not seen all the victims pictures

1) the person killed was black

2) both of those arrested are black-one is in critical condition-the attorney (a prominent black defense attorney who has done time in the past for "structuring") noted that the the one in the hospital is currently "Unresponsive"

3) the activities at the Nightclub were consistent with a mainly African-American crowd (the type of music etc)\

4) there has been no discussions of "gun control" in this shooting. The guns were smuggled into this establishment-the owner had off duty police officers in the parking lot and patrons were checked-either by pat-downs or hand held "wands" to prevent firearms in what is a "gun free establishment"

5) there has been no reports-to the best of my knowledge-if the two persons currently under arrest had felony records or were otherwise disqualified from owning weapons. It is unclear if the weapons were used after a fight broke out or the weapons were brought into the place for the premeditated purpose of being used against others
