Ohio Nightclub shooting leaves one dead, 14 wounded, police say

Yes, a Dylan Roof hate crime would get a lot of coverage too. I guess this is just "gang violence" and the media is uninterested.

I really haven't seen any coverage, but I have heard about it from local people. I also remember the locals taking about the family that got killed outside of Cincinnati. I remember they lived in multiple trailers and one victim was a little baby. I am sure Turtle Dude knows what I am talking about.

I hope they caught the person. He killed off four generations of a whole family.

Those shootings-about an hour and a half or so from Cincinnati in SE Ohio-are still under investigation. There have been all sorts of rumors-from those wasted being the victims of the "mexican cartel" to rival rural "Appalachian ethnic" drug dealers. There is more than substantial evidence that those killed-at least some of them-were involved in marijuana trafficking and cultivation. The Ohio AG has made this killing a very high priority. Its hard to know what exactly is going on-in a case like this, the authorities might well keep what they know on the down-low. Most of my LE friends who aren't involved have noted that it was a professional level hit. Those who are involved-including people I used to work with-aren't talking and rightfully so

Do you think they will solve it?

I suspect with that many people killed someone knows something and will talk sooner or later. Its a rather close knit society out there.

the interesting thing is that if this had been a local gang I would have expected some sort of retaliation. Often the friends/Kin of victims of this type of hit won't cooperate with the authorities because they are planning their own sort of "justice". But here their has been no evidence of that meaning

1) the friends/kin of the victims DO NOT KNOW who did the killing

2) the friends/kin of the victims are too afraid to retaliate because the killings were done by an entity they know will crush them if they retaliate

3) the Friends/kin of the victims are lining up paybacks and its taking more time than usual

and of course there is always the possibility that this was internal-ie one member or Members of a crime family taking out their own and in that case 1.2, and 3 are not applicable

The Club-Cameo night club-has been shut down-it gave up its liquor license and ceased operations. On the local news tonight (a couple minutes ago, Channel 12, CBS, Cincinnati) there was film of marijuana in the beer refrigerator at Cameo.

BTW the one DOA was only shot once-one of the two individuals charged (the one with a 1.7 million dollar bail) is represented and his attorney, Clyde Bennett asked on the news how TWO men could be charged with murder since the victim was only shot once. a pertinent question.

Well, I hope they figure it all out someday... the better the sooner. It takes a monster to kill that many people, and a newborn baby.

I think there was a very young child found alive. that doesn't negate the brutality of the killings and even though it appears that some of those slain were growing/trafficking/ using weed, there is no excuse for this sort of crime

The suspect in the hospital died today.

County Prosecutor noted today that there might be a third suspect (one in custody, one is Dead) who also shot at people. Apparently, according to Joe Deters, (PA for Hamilton county, Ohio) this was a gun fight between thugs and most of those shot were caught in the crossfire vs. and active shooter scenario where the victims were the actual targets. The first man to die, according to Deters-was such a victim-he was "collateral damage" and was not an intended target

more updates

1 victim left in the hospital but his condition has been upgraded to "stable"

the cause of the shootings apparently was groups from two predominantly black areas clashing-Madisonville (east side of Cincinnati) and Price hill-Lower west side of Cincinnati-at the Nightclub.
