News that one of the two Maryland high school students accused of raping a schoolmate was allegedly in the country unlawfully has caught the attention of the White House. The student, 18-year-old Henry Sanchez-Milian, was arrested Thursday at Rockville High School in Rockville, Maryland, along with 17-year-old classmate Jose Montano.

The crime, which took place some 20 miles from the White House in a school district where many members of Congress and federal officials live, comes amid heightened scrutiny of undocumented immigrants. Last month, President Donald Trump directed the Department of Homeland Security to create an office tasked with focusing on crimes allegedly committed by undocumented immigrants.

Sanchez-Milian was stopped by ICE almost a year ago, and was never deported. The Obama administration probably categorized him as a 'dreamer'. Other stories list the victims age as 14, of course they would target a girl that age, they are animals.

The rape took place in the same school district where many members of congress live. Let's see if they act now.
 
The illegal invader didn't rape one of their own so congress will still be divided along party lines.

You can make light of the issue and not care, but a 14 year old girl was brutally raped at her own school. Her life has been altered forever.

Way off on that claim.

I am saying if it was a congress persons child, no matter the party, then serious and effective actions would be taken to reduce the chances of this happening. Because it happened to a peasents child congress doesn't care, not an election year. Congress will stay in their divided corners and do nothing.

Had that illegal invader been deported when ICE knew of him a year earlier then he could not have been accused of rape. It is failure at the federal level.

Yes the rape is local but it is also a federal failure that needs addressing Mho.

Well, it is always more alarming, when the bombs hit your house. So it would have had the most impact, had it been a Democrat Senators cute little thing.

I think the last thing this Thread needs is a Graph of who commits crimes ... let's just hope the victim gets everything she needs to live a normal healthy life, and be grateful it wasn't fatal.

This country has had immigration laws longer than I've been alive ... why would anyone think it's mean now?

Very horrific crime. Just to point out though that kid would not be a dreamer.

Matthew Bourke, a spokesman for ICE, said Sanchez-Milian, a citizen of Guatemala, was stopped by a border patrol agent in Rio Grande Valley, Texas, in August 2016. At that time, the agent determined that Sanchez-Milian was in the United States illegally, having crossed over from Mexico without proper documentation. Sanchez-Milian was ordered to appear before an immigration judge. That hearing has yet to be scheduled.

Bourke said such a delay in an immigration hearing was "not atypical" and that Sanchez-Milian had been free to travel in the interim.

Actually, the progressives here are the ones with problems, as it pertains to this topic. They are the ones who are betting America's future on people who have a penchant for violent crime.

The number of illegal immigrants who should be allowed to commit crimes ought to be 0 because illegal immigrants aren't supposed to be in this country.

How ironic that the left usually cites these violent crimes as one reason the illegals should be given sanctuary. By opening the borders without vetting, we are letting in the very people the victims were trying to escape.
