Unmasking is not illegal as certain people have that authority. The release of that to the news media is.

The Int Agencies have that info. Reports to the AG would be masked. You have no idea of what came from where or who leaked.
Comey did state the media had a lot or reports that were complete inaccurate.

Comey lawyer tiptoed around just about everything he could.

We know, because he told us, that they have a cointel investigation of Trump and team in progress... and it has been since July. We know of the transcripts because that was leaked. We know that the leaked transcripts come with an unmasked US citizen's name, Flynn. We know that leak was illegal. We know the Trump admin didn't have anything to do this leak and surveillance... there is only one other administration involved that could be responsible for the investigation and leak.

Guess whose?

We know that it was leaked under the Obama Admin. Does not prove the WH did it.
Now who released the unmasked name, is who??? Not guessing, but proof.
IIRC the Obama Admin took a reporter(s) to court.

Clearly things like this were discounted - ignored by the Pence lead Transition Team. The fiasco for that lays with Pence and Trump.

Boy, you just want to completely avoid that illegal leak, dontcha?

The WH is responsible for things done under the watch of that admin. There is no way that we will ever know if the o bomb officially ordered it himself, unlikely. Easily done as his behest, however. What Comey tiptoed around yesterday is who at the WH was aware of this investigation and just exactly how much they knew and how much they were involved.

But unavoidable to accept that somebody under the responsibility of the o bomb admin leaked the classified material. And with the o bomb opening up the sharing of NSA information with other US intel agencies, he surely muddied the waters so its harder to get at the name of the person who leaked.

But again, legal or illegal, government surveillance of Trump and team was in progress and somebody who got possession of Flynn's name leaked it. That is criminal and the responsibility of the then WH.

Whoever disclosed classified information gathered from this surveillance to any reporter unquestionable violated federal laws. Or do you imagine no one did such a thing--that the reporters in all those stories were lying when they attributed their information to various unidentified government sources?
 
They'd better get Comey back in there to clean up his testimony after today....

Incorrect, only heads of depts have that authority, and it has a strict set of conditions to do so. If this was followed, we would have that chief's signature somewhere.

Wouldnt you agree that if something happens under the Trump administration, Trump 'owns' it?
 
So if we are taking Comey at his word...American intel agencies were in fact spying on Trump, and he did in fact brief the WH on certain aspects and findings (though he refused to reveal what exactly he did brief them on). And somewhere along the way, someone in one of those intel agencies (or someone privvy to classified briefings as to content) both disclosed the names of US citizens without legal standing AND leaked the information for political gain.

Oh...and he also stated there IS no evidence of collusion re Russia.

Seems to me once Napalitano explains his 'sources' re England spying on trump we should be able to put this all to rest and get about the business of moving forward as a country.

Then, he announces, in the public good, the FBI is investigating the Trump administration. Unprecedented.

When the FBI investigates anything. Anything. They don't let anybody know about it. About anything.

Something's wrong.

I have to agree. Comey's disclosures are unusual, and highly selective...seemingly tailored for the moment at hand...maybe HE'S the leak!

Uhh he was only correcting his previous famous "case closed" briefing. Its quite precedented to update when the status of a case changes.

I can agree the comment on an ongoing investigation is unusual.

And worse than that to pick and choose when asked later about the surveillance.

And of course...there was.

The Hillary case was closed. So, to update the public as to additional investigative steps is unprecedented, not preceded.

Lot's of strange **** happens in DC....If I had to guess, Comey has dug himself a hole by selectively commenting on open investigations, and sees himself as some sort of Hoover type character...Now as this is revealed further, and we find out more, if there is any influence either from the previous WH, or Lynch from the former DoJ, it will be a totally damaging bombshell, and democrats will be well on the road to totally destroying their party....
