U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family received $1

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

What a country you live in. I'll bet all your neighbours are glad they don't live in such a nasty, god-forsaken place.

I guess I'll just have to pick up the shattered pieces of my life and try to carry on.

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

He was told to drink it. Think- what kind of fear would entice you to drink something you knew would kill you? The 'officers' suspected it wasn't harmless, or the scenario wouldn't have happened. Just a barest hint of professionalism would have had them confiscate it and test it.
Damn. In what other countries in the world could this have happened?

Maybe he shouldn't have tried to smuggle the liquid meth into the country if he was that scared of being caught. I simply don't feel sorry for a would be drug runner who happened to end up a victim of his own poison.

Even if you don't think it's harmless, there's no way to know that it would be deadly. Hey, if the guy wants to bring it into the country, why not test it out on him first?

Yeah, why not test it on him. Lots of precedent for that kind of thing in history- even other countries today where that kind of thing happens. I guess, anyway.
Hey, your country. Make of it what you will.

The Officers were out of line, is the easiest way of saying this. They should have been at the min, fired.
Recall the Border Agent who shot a kid across the border with Mexico, as he was throwing rocks at the Agent.

Why should the officers be fired?

Maybe the next guy I'll think twice before trying to smuggle poison into the US. I have zero sympathy for such people. If it was up to me we'd be implementing the actions laid out in that Tom Clancy novel( A Clear and Present Danger).

Apple juice is normally safe to drink. Only the teen knew it wasn't apple juice and he could have just admitted to what it actually was and accept the consequences.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, teenagers aren't human!

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

The worst part is that this is going to set up a whole new cottage industry. Drug smugglers bring in liquid meth and if they don't get caught sell it for hundreds of thousands of dollars. If they do get caught drink it, blame it on the BP agents, then allow the family to get millions of dollars.

These drugs destroys untold thousands of lives every year. I have zero sympathy for anyone involved in trafficking them.

It could happen in any country in the world.

Nope.

Can't seem to generate an ounce of sympathy for this lowlife.
he was sixteen dude
But it was tested, by the claimant himself.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, teenagers aren't human!

The number of people in this thread jerking themselves raw over a literal kid killing himself is disturbing. Even if everything that happened was his own fault, it's still a completely tragic and unnecessary death.

Hey, if you think Im a fan of the RCMP you havent been paying attention. I been chirping about them since I first learned that the police arent my friends.
But those border guys making that kid drink that stuff, and not even getting fired, that crap happens, where, some Arab country?

I'm not sure why you think a dead kid is funny. Teenagers have done stupid things for ever, and sometimes they do end up dead. Well, laugh it up and enjoy.

I'm sure your comment to me makes sense to you.

My guess is that he won't make that mistake again.

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

I just read in the news that his family got a million dollars for his death.

These Officer are still employed.
None were disciplined.
Should they be fired?
Are their laws where charges could have been laid?
Thoughts are?

My thoughts - the family shouldn't have received a dime. What the hell has happened to personal responsibility? He wasn't forced to drink it, was he? What makes me shake my head is that the family got money for their kid trying to break a serious law. You do realize that money comes out of your pocket. People are sue happy.

You just gave me a new idea...

Instead of deporting, or attempting to deport, all our illegals back to their own countries, some of which are refusing to take them back, hell, we can just drop them off on your border. I mean, since you feel so open armed about it. We certainly don't want your hearts aching for these folks at such a great distance, so how about we bring them up close and personal and on a platter, right to your door?

The US has anywhere from about a third of what would be the current Canadian population illegally living in the US ... right up to two thirds plus that we are supporting.

You folks are so welcoming of this invasion...and hell, you have a land mass larger than the US so ample space to house these folks... send 'em your way, to the great white north, eh?

A lot more lives are ruined by what he was smuggling into the country. I assure you.

By people who choose to take it, probably with a better understanding of what it is and the risks that the kid on the border did. Why wouldn’t you hold them in at least as much contempt as you do the boy?

I do, and they too die like flies.

So why do you care about their lives being ruined by the drug smugglers? Why would it matter to you that more lives of drug users are ruined than lives of drug smugglers if you give zero value to any of their lives? 1 x 0 = 1000 x 0.

Just because I blame the dopers for the drug problem does not mean I give a pass to the smugglers or assign "zero value to any of their lives." I'm sure the 16-year old young man could have been a rocket scientist had he grown up in Arlington Virginia instead of a one-cow town in Nowhere, Mexico. But, he didn't, and he also decided to drink the poison he was smuggling into the US.

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

I don't really have a problem with this tactic...for adults. Something about it involving a minor bothers me. 16 isn't too young so I'm not in an outrage over it. But what if he was 10? Where do we draw the line? I think we should use the same line we use for so many other things. 18.
