U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family received $1

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

The 16-year-old had just crossed the U.S.-Mexico border to San Diego and was going through the San Ysidro Port of Entry

They don't have drug testing kits available there?

so every liquid is supposed to be tested? If its not your drink, someone handed it to you, and likely the kid knew it was bad stuff...... WHY would the kid choose to drink it in the first place....... WHAT motivates someone to drink liquid meth???? Drug testing kit while has some relevance still does not quantify why you would consume it....

These Officer are still employed.
None were disciplined.
Should they be fired?
Are their laws where charges could have been laid?
Thoughts are?
These Border Patrol agents are all American patriots and heroes. What would have happened to our tax-dollars if that Darwin candidate reached our country? It would have been a lifetime of leeching off the American safety net at tax-payer expense if not engaging in violent criminal behavior. Someone that dumb would have been a massive drain on American society.

Actually when you add it all up..... there is nothing justifiable..

1) Kid is 16, not 5, Unless the kid had a mental defiance to choose right from wrong.... it was not expressed.
2) Its not his apple juice, he didnt pour it likely, It was given to him, If the 16 year old kid was ignorant for someone to had him 2 bottles and tell him its apple juice, that likely was NOT from someone he knows or trust, is just irresponsible.... "Dont take Candy from a stranger"
3) If the parents gave it to him and said it was apple juice then the parents are wrong, but from the report the parents didnt know
4) He did not buy the juice, its was not his juice, why would he drink it?......

Again a life was lost, wrongful death... BUT this is 100% avoidable....100% so many failures in action from the very beginning....

I would have to say I am surprised the agents let him drink it if they suspected drugs. Usually the last thing they want is for you to swallow the evidence.

Liberals are more outraged that these cops acted based on the lies that illegal immigrant told them than being outraged that Trump was right about illegal immigrants smuggling drugs into our country. So typical. If it were Obama or Hillary at the helm these officers would be facing the death penalty, that illegal immigrant's family would have been given amnesty and paid hundreds of millions of dollars in an unjustified civil lawsuit. GOD BLESS TRUMP emboldening and protecting our Border Patrol agents.

I'll bet he didn't drink much. It can't taste good. I'm sure there was enough evidence left.

I'm thinking for a moment, If I was a in that situation,

Say I suspected a kid with apple juice and in jest I said, "Prove it". In my mind, the kids knows its not his and likely bad stuff. Any normal human would likely NOT ingest something they dont know what it was, let alone if they knew it was drugs.

The Agent was probably stunned, to see the kid drink it, so again in my mind, for a moment I would think, HUH... well I guess it was Apple Juice, not drugs.... low and hold 2 hours later dead....

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

These officers should be promoted. I literally cannot comprehend any wrongdoing on their part here. The illegal immigrant said it was apple juice and the border patrol agents believed him. Why is it their responsibility that the vast majority of illegal immigrants are liars?

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

Is this part of their training?? Really - You can go looking, as I am not
They had equipment available that would have had an answer within a few minutes.
Lastly, live testing of suspected drugs is now a policy that you agree with??

Fine, then it is just your amateur opinion. It was apple juice and I'm not offended by that method of testing. Did they have test kits for what was in the apple juice or are you speculating?

I agree with asking someone who says that they are carrying two bottles of apple juice to drink some to prove it. As I said, he could have been honest and say what it was, he could have refused to drink it forcing a test, if one were available, but no, he drank it and died. Sometimes poor decisions have consequences. If he was forced to drink it, then that would be wrong, but nothing in the story says he was.

The officers were savvy and the kid was stupid. Do you know of many 16 year olds that cross borders alone? Where were the parents then?

Who is suggesting every liquid is supposed to be tested? If there are suspicions surrounding the actual content, which there clearly was here, wouldn't the logical thing to do be to test the actual content?

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

If my sister had balls she'd be my brother.
The guys screwed up. Plain and simple. Anyone with a lick of professionalism about them would have confiscated and tested the bottles.

The bottles were tested. The boy drank the apple-juice. Haven't you ever heard of professional food testers?

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

What did the officers do wrong?

They protected America. Apparently that's the source of the outrage.

So who makes this call on ever single liquid? LOL, we are arm chair quarter backing, ...

Again I say if I were standing there, I said prove it drink it, even if I suspected it to be drugs, who in their right mind would actually consume it consciously? Seriously.......WHY would you even consume it if some told you to drink it???

Nonsense, you clearly didn't even read the link. If the border patrol agents believed him, they would not have told him to drink it to prove he wasn’t lying .

But it was tested, by the claimant himself.

Uhhh, it's not every single liquid. Who makes the call on whether or not to test? Obviously that would be the agent who holds concerns that the liquid may not be as described. It's not every single liquid, only those they are suspicious of.

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

Ok, this is where I break from the Left. What exactly is wrong with the agents letting the boy drink his "apple juice"?

If the agents believed that it was apple juice they wouldn't have suggested he drink it to "prove he wasn't lying". If they had suspicions then don't be lazy, get off your butt and use test kits to check, that they should have available to test the actual content.

If suspicons are correct, hand over the the authorities to face consequences.

Not sure how anyone could support "self testing" at designated border control areas. What's next, bring your own kits? That's pretty much what people are promoting/supporting here.

No, I don't think they should be. The kid chose to drink the liquid meth. He knew full well what it was. It doesn't seem the officers did; anyway, if somebody claims something is a harmless liquid, I don't see what's wrong with asking them to prove it by taking a sip.

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

I don't see a screw up. He lied in an attempt to commit a felony. The officers didn't owe him anything.

What a country you live in. I'll bet all your neighbours are glad they don't live in such a nasty, god-forsaken place.

He was told to drink it. Think- what kind of fear would entice you to drink something you knew would kill you? The 'officers' suspected it wasn't harmless, or the scenario wouldn't have happened. Just a barest hint of professionalism would have had them confiscate it and test it.
Damn. In what other countries in the world could this have happened?

That sounds to you like how professionals would handle it?
I'm trying to guess in what other countries in the world this could have happened. It's not good company

Any is the answer although it's not what you are looking for.

Re: U.S. border officers told a Mexican teen to drink liquid meth. His family receive

And if the border patrol agents refused to allow the boy to drink his "apple juice" then the agents would have been accused of mistreating the illegal immigrant and denying him cool refreshment in the blistering heat.

Every scenario is designed to be lose/lose when dealing with America hating liberals.

Who knows? Maybe they figured he wouldn't drink it.
