Today the coverage on this was really really strange.

CNN reported earlier that the Trump administration called and apologized to British Intel.

But by the time the presser occurred Spicer denied that report as false.

During Trump and Merkel's conference today he made a comment that there was something he and Merkel have in common, they have both been wiretapped.
Trump was asked by a German reporter about British intel and Trump described Napolitano but did not mention him by name but told the reporter he needed to take that up with FOX news.
Later on Shep Smith's program he said FOX News has no proof of the allegations made by Judge Napolitano.

But after all that fiasco on Shep Smith's program, Napolitano isn't backing off of his claims nor is he in hiding etc. He posted a piece at FOX Nation about 5 hours ago and the British Intel responded to his accusations which is unprecedented that a spy agency would do such a thing.

Napolitano earlier in the week said he had three intelligence persons verify the story before he first told about it on FOx and Friends.

I do not believe for an instance he would have kept this alive especially during his meeting with Chancellor Merkel unless he does have evidence. Look Trump did not get his Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats until two days ago when the Senate finally confirmed him. And there was no reason to slow walk that appointee as he had great bipartisan support. Well unless possibly for the reason to keep the Obama appointee in position longer. You see the DNI is a powerful position that knows the business of at least 15 different intelligence agencies.

His unsubstantiated accusation against Obama has blown up in his face. The House and Senate intelligence committees came within inches of outright calling him a liar. Republicans in Congress aren't backing him up. His desperate attempt to find any possible shred of support resulted in him relying on a *cough* alleged leak from British Intelligence reported on Fox News ("the leaks are real, the news is fake") that has turned into an international incident, which has harmed our long-standing relationship with the UK.
