Aclu launches nationwide training on protest, resistance

Just curious but, do you instigate homicide of protestors when the Christian Right protests at PP? How about when the comparatively small TP protested for fiscal conservatism? Were they begging to get shot because the ACLU failed to inform them that the 2nd amendment is lethal to the 1st?

I'm not instigating anything. Be careful with your accusations.

I'm simply pointing out that, "the resistance", will go too far one day and some snowflakes are going to get killed, in self-defense.

If you're point is they're a mostly liberal organization, that's not news to anyone. It's as earth shattering as pointing out NRA is mostly right wing.

And one reason they're responding as they are now is their membership has tripled since Trump was elected, many of them young people, they have tons of money flooding in, and lots of people begging to do more than write a check, to get involved, and they're training some of them on effective ways to get involved, do something.
Ironically, Trump may have been the best thing to happen to liberalism in this country in a very long time.

My sadest regret of this last election, is that Bernie's age may preclude him from another run. The Dems need someone that's Bernie-like, but several decades younger.

BERNIE
“Over the last 30 or 40 years the Democratic party has transformed itself from a party of the working class – of white workers, black workers, immigrant workers – to a party significantly controlled by a liberal elite which has moved very far away from the needs of … working families in this country.”

He goes on to lament what he sees as an unnecessary dichotomy between the identity politics favoured by those liberal elites and the traditional labour roots of the movement – steelworkers, say. He is so incensed about this false division that it even dictates his self-perception: “I consider myself a progressive and not a liberal for that reason alone,” he says.

I ask him to flesh out the thought. He replies that the liberal left’s focus on sectional interests – whether defined by gender, race or immigrant status – has obscured the needs of a shrinking middle class suffering from huge levels of income inequality. It didn’t need to have been that way. “The truth is, we can and should do both. It’s not an either/or, it’s both.”

We'll see.....the failed Pelosi was not removed, and this crew went to war to make sure Ellison lost.....not promising signs that they have learned anything.

I agree.

The Dems needed the same type of dislodgement as Trump gave the GOP.

Actually, Trump swooped in and grabbed the disenfranchised Northern working class from the Dems of yesteryear, and ceded them to the GOP. He was the best thing to happen to the GOP, only they don't realize it yet.

I don't know how the Dems are going to get those old-school working-class back so easy. But Bernie's making a shot at them, and he's pretty good at it I think. But he's getting too old to be President in future election cycles I think.

We've all known for some time now that the ACLU was really little more than a liberal front, taking only a handful of high profile right of center cases over the decades to ward off criticism of their organization....Now, as with so many today, the mask is coming off, and real character revealed...Thoughts?

Yeah, it's one helluva note when an organization supports and defends the Bill Of Rights and constitutional rule of law. I'm sure one of these days Trump will claim that the people should not be allowed to petition their government for change. Democratic principles are so out of fashion these days.

Per chance at a University in Ohio?

Making people aware of their rights!!?? Those bastards!

Making people aware of their rights!!?? Those bastards!

Well, typically you read right past this part..."and urge organized, public resistance by those opposed to policies of President Donald Trump."

So, they're there to further the anti Trump agenda eh?

What! And urging the EXERCISE of rights!!?? Those bastards!

So, seriously, you don't see this as a problem? people that are supposed to be there to defend civil liberties, NOT 'Urge' civil disobedience....It is just more proof whether you like it or not Ikari, that the ACLU is a far left organization....Always has been.

Those bastards! How dare anyone want to protest the government!!?? The government is great, the government is god, the government provides for us all!!! Why I think it's anti-American to even consider protesting against the government. And here's the ACLU actually telling people their rights and proper exercise there of. I say we string them up by their toenails!

To think that people would be so disobedient as to protest. Ungrateful jerks. Don't they realize how much government has done for them!? Sad times, sad times.

I'm sorry, but it just boils me up inside to see this sort of anti-government, anti-Trump disloyalty in this great nation. If it were up to me, we'd round up all those ACLU types and put 'em on the other side of that great wall we're building. They need to learn to respect and obey the government instead of what their rights are and exercising them. Nothing more anti-American than exercising your rights. How dare they? How dare!

Ok, carry on without me....Your strawman will keep you company...

And while we're on the subject, we should deport Bernie Sanders. Why I ain't seen someone so disloyal to this great Republic. All his supporters are just Trump haters. And hating on the President only happened just now! It's not like this was established, no one was hating on Obama merely because he was a Democrat. This is all new because people have sour grapes over Trump. And now they want to protest! Sorry, you got to get behind the President and the government, he's OUR President. You don't root against the pilot! We all got to support Trump and the government and not say anything derisive (sorry...that means to express contempt or ridicule) or mean, or dare learn our rights and exercise them! And if someone has such gall as to try...off to Mexico. Git out! That's what I say.

I had a buddy that ordered a politically incorrect vanity tag for his Harley (acronym for a non-PC saying) and the ACLU kicked the state of MD's butt in court over their refusal to issue it. That was not high profile.

I really don't see a problem with the ACLU, which exists to protect our constitutional rights, training or even urging people to exercise their constitutional right to protest in defense of other rights, such as LGBT, free speech, reproductive rights (abortion), etc. It's no more discordant than the NRA encouraging gun owners to carry guns for their own protection, or shoot, or hunt. After all the point of rights is to exercise them, and obviously a cherished right is the right to protest our government.

For the record, protest =/= "civil disobedience" - you made that up.

It appears the problem is the ACLU isn't being perfectly non-partisan, that they are showing their liberal colors, even "far left." But I don't think, for example, that anyone is surprised that Notorious RBG was litigation head of the ACLU and is the most liberal member of the USSC. In other news, the NRA and GOA are far right wing organizations...

Damn! You are vicious!

I'll be sure to wear my K suit.

I'm a sheep dog. When someone sets out to harm me, or mine, my first instinct to to **** their asses up.

There are a lot of us in America. We're the folks that have protected this country for 230 years. The snowflakes might want to keep that in mind when they get stupid.

Really, because I sure don't see them setting up community informational seminars on 2nd amendment action, or Tea Party, or any of the other rights concerns as far as their erosion of rights...

And although you are correct that the NRA, and GOA are indeed seen as right wing, they are also single issue advocacy groups...You don't have to be a conservative to be an NRA member, nor do you have to be a left winger to join the ACLU....I personally don't think that they should be involved in outright subversive activity....

I'm very liberal, yet I've got a shotgun, a rifle, and a 4 wheel drive, with a 45.

Country folks can survive!

A Question if I may Friend...Cause as you know I value your opinion....

How in hell did we get to Bernie was the one, and now we can't find someone more vital to take up the banner?

WTF Happened...all the big names, like your mayor for instance, fizzled....WHY?

Now some say Clinton Corp did this to keep the competition down....

And my opinion of them is so low that I tend to wonder.

What Say You?
