The clock is ticking.

The top lawmakers on the House Intelligence Committee have asked the Justice Department to turn over by Monday any evidence showing Trump Tower was wiretapped during the 2016 presidential race — an explosive accusation President Trump leveled at former President Obama without providing proof.

The request came in a letter sent last week to the acting deputy attorney general by the committee chairman, Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), and its ranking Democrat, Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), congressional aides told NBC News. FBI chief James Comey, who reportedly asked the Justice Department to publicly reject Trump's claim, was also sent a copy of the letter.

So, either he has it, and will hand it over today, in which case we will need to bring some charges or something against our last President. Or he doesn't have it, and he will have to, what....apologize? Admit he made it up?

Any bets on the outcome?

Well if there is official betting somewhere, the odds are heavily in favor of Trump producing no evidence of any kind. He's created many conspiracy theories out of thin air over the years and never, under any circumstances has he ever provided a shred of evidence for it. This isn't about facts, it's about appealing to his poorly educated supporters emotionally by attacking the person they literally thought was a kenyan muslim tyrant anti-christ. It sure feels like this should be true, right?

I'd say it's far past time for us to hold Trump accountable for his actions and his words. I hope there are consequences when he inevitably provides nothing, though I doubt there will be.

Trump has evidence, guys. The best evidence. He said so.

It sure has squelched the Russia talk. :)

Did the Left realize they were knee-deep in their own crap?

If he had proof before last Saturday's Tweetfest, and he can show it through his Justice Department, Barack Obama has a lot of explaining to do - and will face consequences.

If he had no proof before last Saturday's Tweetfest, and he can't show it through his Justice Department, will he be called out for his irresponsible and slanderous actions?

He'll be called out for a day, his supporters will ignore it and everybody will move on shortly thereafter to the next little scandal. We've become so used to the president making up blatant and objective lies that it doesn't even shock us anymore. Like I said, I doubt there will be consequences because I've never seen Trump face consequences from anything, ever.

That's what it's really about. Every time Trump gets trapped in a corner on something he starts flinging **** everywhere like a scared howler monkey and everyone is so disgusted from the feces flying everywhere they temporarily forget about the original issue.

According to Snowden and Wikileaks, every phone call in the USA is recorded. That means even Trump Tower calls. Has anyone accessed the data collected on individuals in Trump Tower. That is the key. There is no question that the calls have been tapped and so have yours. Standard Operatiing Procedure. If general authorizations under the Patriot Act and approved by the Obama administration are involved, then Obama may have inadvertently caused the tapping of Trump Tower, and that is the reality.

So you believe one but not the other?

At this point, I haven't seen any evidence that the Russians and the Trump campaign colluded with each other, so I'll hold off on making a determination for now. However, I do think that this issue really needs to be investigated.

The point I'm making here, is that this wiretapping claim definitely seemed to be an attempt at a diversion from Jeff Sessions' and the debacle that ensued involving him and that Russian ambassador. Whether I believe it or not isn't the point here.

I agree. Personally, I love the fact that Trump doesn't sit on his hands when accusations come his way.

No, likely not. this is how Trump operates. Gets too much pressure or criticism, he says something stupid and baseless on Twitter to get us all talking about that.

Yes, it's lovely to take to twitter with angry tweets throwing out unsubstantiated accusations in an effort to remove pressure and criticism from other topics. Fantastic behavior for a President.

Whether he does or doesn't, the buffoon's latest play was a nice diversion. And the dupes ate it all up.

The media shouldn't have put so much focus on his BS accusations though.

One could say that doing nothing [in the face of accusations] looks like guilt.

If he threw out one unsubstantiated item for another, they seem to cancel each other out.

Two wrongs do not make a right.

The fact of the matter is, had Obama done something like this, y'all would be livid. Instead y'all are scraping for excuses as to why such childish, embarrassing behavior is warranted. Furthermore, this looks far more like guilt than "doing nothing". Why does he have to go to such lengths to deflect? What's he afraid of being unearthed? What is he hiding?

Its not as ridgid as you are painting it out to be.

What if there is evidence of wiretapping but its not clearly linked to obama?

What exactly was inappropriate of Senator Jeff Sessions, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, and Foreign Intelligence Committee having an appointment with the Russian ambassador to the United States, in his office, in front of staff, that the State Department set up?

This boils down to the same two hats argument used by Planned Parenthood - sure we have paid staff that provide abortions (talks to Russians) and to provide medicaid services (helps the Trump campaign) but those are completely separate (unrelated?) duties. ;)
