One of my favorite politicians ever.

Washington (CNN) — Former Utah governor and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman has accepted President Donald Trump's offer to serve as the next ambassador to Russia, several senior administration officials told CNN.

If confirmed, Huntsman would become one of the highest-profile US ambassadors, helming the diplomatic mission to a country that has seen its relationship with the US become increasingly strained in recent years. Huntsman would also take on the post amid ongoing questions about connections between Russians known to US intelligence and Trump campaign advisers -- and just months after Russia's meddling in the 2016 election.]

Nice to know that Trump is now trusting the same man who 4 years ago he proclaimed was a "joke", probably an Obama plant, and who "gave away our country to China". Maybe he wants him to give away our country to Russia now.

What a piss poor choice.

Hopefully Trump is setting him up for a fall.

Trump should appoint a democrat. It seems to be OK when they talk to Russians.

Hard to tell the good billionaires from the bad ones in today's news sources.

Hopefully Trump is setting him up for a fall.

At our expense?

One or two in the cabinet would arguably have been a good idea. But Trump plays only to his base.

So let me get this right. You hope that Trump is using the Office of Ambassador to Russia, one of the most important nations on earth, as merely a way or extracting some kind of revenge against Huntsman?

Quite the patriot you are..

Good Choice.

this is yet another good pick from trump for a key position.

I like Huntsman too. He's a level-headed man and had the republican base been smart in 2012 they would've given him the nomination instead of Romney.

By sending Huntsman to be ambassador in his boyfriend's country?

I am pleasantly surprised by Trump choosing a Libertarian instead of an authoritarian for the position.

I like almost all of Trump's key ambassador and Cabinet picks. This is an excellent pick.

There is a method to the madness fits the trump administration.
it is crazy but there are good things coming out of that crazy.

That's because they don't lie about having done so.

But you knew that.

I doubt it makes much practical difference in this type of position, though.

One of the few Trump picks I agree with.

The very least you can do is argue the analogy. I'm getting rather tired of doing other people's research.

Claire McCaskill says she never met with Russian ambassador, past tweets say otherwise | PolitiFact

McCaskill’s Russian Flub

Tell you what: I wouldn't vote for her, but I'm not in MO. I am in the U.S., so I definitely am concerned about a lawyer appointed as AG who decides to lie. That's rather worse than a politician lying. BUT, if McCaskill lies at it seems, then she can go to hell, too.

What was your point supposed to be? Let me guess: I identify myself as "slightly liberal" and McCaskill is a Democrat, therefore, I am a hypocrite for not having posted rage threads McCaskill, saving the links in gmail drafts, and then posting them here? (Nevermind that I didn't hear a damn thing from the right on this McCaskill business until Sessions lied and Trump resisted Russia investigations)

You stated "they don't lie." Apparently neither you nor McCaskill don't know what "ever" means.

He's not officially a libertarian but he's closer to their supposed philosophy than a lot of registered libertarians who claim to follow it.

So you don't want Trump to mend fences with Russia? I thought that was the entire point of this Russian mess? How exactly would Huntsman fail at this job in your eyes?

Edit: Huntsman sold out after trump's tweets at him .
