Trump made his own bed here and deserves every outlandish charge that results from his evasiveness.

Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell of New Jersey said Monday that Congress has a responsibility to hold the executive branch "to the highest standard of transparency to ensure the public interest is placed first."

Pascrell and other Democrats said the tax returns also would help lawmakers and the public determine whether Trump has any investments in Russia.

Trump has said he has no investments in Russia, and Democrats acknowledged they have no evidence otherwise. They said that is one reason they want to obtain access to Trump's returns.

The Republican-controlled House on Monday approved Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy's motion to postpone indefinitely Pascrell's proposal. The vote was 229 to 185.

What you just don't get is that the GOP doesn't care about this stupid stuff. They care about making this country better than the disaster the last President left it in. Trump's tax returns mean absolutely NOTHING to me. The only reason you and the Dems want to see it is so you can try and pull a rabbit out of a hat for deflection. I would honestly suggest that the Democrats start spending more time on their party and less on trying to bring down the GOP.

What I can't figure out is what is the fascination with seeing someone else's tax returns. Why do Republicans await the release of tax returns from Democrats and Democrats await the release of tax returns from Republicans with baited breath? Probably nothing more than the want of a gotcha. Something to use against one's politcal opponents.

Personally I don't give a hoot what Trump's tax returns shows. I didn't care one iota what Hillary Clinton's showed, what Obama's, Romney's, McCain's or anyone else's with the exception of my own. It seems to me only Clinton supporters and Democrats care and want the release so bad they can feel it. Republicans and independents don't care.

Well, 45% say they want the release, 44% say they don't care and that is strictly split among party lines. Democrats want it, Republican, not. In fact 71% of Democrats want Trump's to release his taxes, probably just for a gotcha and nothing else. Those democrats are against Trump and are looking for ammunition to use against him. 20% if Republicans want the release, but only 41% of independents. I think this all falls into political partisanship category.
