George W. Bush opens up on Trump's war with the media, Russia and travel ban

So far Trump's war on the media hasn't caused near as many casualties as Mr G. W.Bush's unnecessary war in Iraq did.

The only country that has gained anything from Bush's Iraq War is Iran, which is mighty happy that Bush put their Shia brothers in charge there.

There is quite a difference between reporting the news and making up the news. The left loves making up the news and promotes that happening just to divert from the Trump promises made and promises being kept.

I agree with Bush but not with the way the media is making things up and promoting the unrest in this country today. The Russian story is a non story, the popular vote is a non story, the economic activity, job creation, and national security EO's are being ignored. The left will never be happy without chaos that they are promoting

Why is it you rail against "fake news" but seem to have no problem when Donald regularly makes up his own fake news on the spot? I just don't understand the double-standard.

The Senate can't possibly go D in 2 years, with 25 up and 10 in trump states and 3 to 5 more in at-risk blue states. R's only have NV in danger right now out of only 8 up, though AZ may join them.

Now the house is a different story, with 23 GOP CDs won by Clinton and 36 more very close and being contested. There's so much more but I'm out of gas on this one tonight .
Trump is just getting started. If he does what I think he will do, which is send the US into a tail spin, you'll see those numbers shift.

Thats what libs are praying for

Trump spent the majority of 2001-2008 bashing Bush and his policies.

Bush may want some pay back time.

Exactly

I can think of at least 3 reasons for bush to bash trump that are personal or political

Bush is probably still shocked that a New York liberal is the new GOP president.

California is going to secede??? Do you actually, literally believe this?

Do you think that there was so much fraud that Trump would've won the popular vote? I mean it's pretty amazing that people could pull of that much fraud, not get caught and yet still not win an election.
By any other name would a rose smell as sweet?

If that's your definition of the "radical left", then you've included the vast majority of the population in the US.

Maybe you should ask Trump that question because he doesn't let these issues die. He keeps repeating himself, and posting garbage on twitter because he knows how many people will eventually believe him.

Over 70 million people voted against Hillary and YES I believe that without California's illegals Trump would have won the popular vote not that it matters. As for seceding you will have to take that up with the people of California

What Trump is doing is letting the people know that when he is hit he will hit back and it is no longer business as usual. Sorry you don't like that but quite frankly I don't really care, to me results matter and it is the results not the rhetoric that is going to determine his success. When that happens are you going to be mature enough to admit you were wrong??

I'm not going to lie, my opinion of George Bush changed a bit when I read his memoirs. Since then I've always held him to be a goofball at best, and sometimes just downright dumb, but since then he never struck me as a malevolent individual or anything beyond someone genuinely believing he was doing the right thing. I can't say I was a fan of his presidency, but I've come to like him a lot since he left office.

Foreign police has basically become almost my number one issue. I follow a lot of it and, at least as far as the Middle East is concerned, I have a decent amount of experience in it, having done 3 deployments and 1 language training trip (I'm an Arabic linguist) putting me in 4 Middle Eastern countries and also Afghanistan.

We've been screwing up so many things for decades it's ridiculous. I mean...we get all butthurt over Iran not liking us when we carried out a coup of their government then when they overthrew it we crapped on them from that point on until today. I'm not as spun up on Central and South America but we also supported genocide in Guatemala.

Excellent post

then you don't understand the issue, the media is doing their best to demonize Trump and to destroy him for whatever reason failing to focus on what really is important, economic growth, job creation, and national security. The media and the left are making up the news instead of reporting the news. Trump is responding in kind, right or wrong. Behind the scenes is being ignored

You need to quit blaming them for Trump's ignorance. :)

You need to be more objective on what is going on. You don't become a billionaire with property all over the world by being ignorant

Speaking of those properties...

These are Donald Trump's ties to Russia - CNNPolitics.com

A few highlights:

Trump hired the law firm Sojuzpatent to file at least eight trademarks in Russia between 1996 and 2008, including "Trump," "Trump Home" and "Trump Tower."

Trump partnered with the Bayrock Group, a company run by Soviet immigrants, and according to a lawsuit filed, financed by Russian and Kazakhstan money. Together, they developed Trump properties in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and New York.
They also planned on opening a Trump Tower in Moscow. However, Trump said in a deposition that the plan fell through after media reports began questioning Trump's net worth. The partners with Russian ties in the United States backed out.

Trump's ties to Russia go beyond business deals. His former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, had connections with Russia that go much deeper, including to Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraine's former president who fled the country. Yanukovych, who is now in Russia, "called upon Vladimir Putin to send Russian troops into Ukraine," according to a White House statement.

So your boi is actually a Russian mole. Glad you put a "conservative" tag on it though. Proves what I always suspected about US Conservatives---party before country.

Just goes to show how little you know about business and just how partisan and what a baiter you are. Trump's so called ties to Russia are just that, so called, and whether or not they are actual coming from the Clinton News Network is irrelevant to the role of the President in creating jobs, promoting economic activity, and securing our borders. Is anything that CNN reported ILLEGAL? Does Trump have any holdings in Russia?

Keep playing that silly game of yours in demonizing the legitimate President of the United States all because you don't like him.

By the way how does any of these so called claims put our country at risk?

That's just spin and a dodge. You voted for a Russian mole.

That's just spin and a dodge. You voted for a Russian mole.

I voted for the better alternative and you continue to make wild accusations that mean absolutely nothing. the role of the President is to promote economic activity, job creation, and national security and when he generates those results you are going to look more foolish than you are

Bush is probably still shocked that a New York liberal is the new GOP president.

New York liberals don't nominate USSC Justices like Gorsuch.

New York liberals don't sign executive orders gutting regulations to protect the environment.

I'm sure you can point out several more EOs that a New York liberal would never sign into law .

Trump is just getting started. If he does what I think he will do, which is send the US into a tail spin, you'll see those numbers shift.

trump's cheap political stunt to get a photo op with a gold star parent for his 2020 reelection backfired.

I didn't expect trump to start losing his support from the Military and Veterans this quickly.

They see right through this phony draft-dodger who thinks he can throw more money at the Military to buy them off .

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_elections,_2018

This is the first of the links I'll send on the Senate. You see 34 senators up in 2018, since sessions' seat is now up. Another link will show the top ten endangered seats, including GOP Sen. Heller of NV and nine DEMs.

GOP Sen. Flake of AZ is being challenged from the TEAts. A huge race is brewing in TX between Cruz and Castro. Also, I believe Fischer in NE is vulnerable .

Be great to see Castro steal Cruz's seat. :)

California is going to secede??? Do you actually, literally believe this?

Hey there exoplanet, and welcome to the forum...:2wave:

If I could answer even though you were addressing Conservative...No, I don't think that Cali will get anywhere near secession...And even if they did, their government wouldn't allow it.

Do you think that there was so much fraud that Trump would've won the popular vote? I mean it's pretty amazing that people could pull of that much fraud, not get caught and yet still not win an election.

Man, you'd better hope that it is never proven, because if it is than what we know today as "progressive liberalism" is finished. And personally I would think that is a bad thing...

By any other name would a rose smell as sweet?

Apparently so, because libs invested lots of energy in arguing that the turn outs were different...

If that's your definition of the "radical left", then you've included the vast majority of the population in the US.

Do you believe that liberalism has been tracking left over the decades, or right, or no change?

Maybe you should ask Trump that question because he doesn't let these issues die. He keeps repeating himself, and posting garbage on twitter because he knows how many people will eventually believe him.

And that is one thing I will agree with you on...I hate that Trump won't let some of these attacks go...But, not because of any sort of repetition thing, simply because he has always taken on his 'enemies' without relent until they are pulverized...He's not going to change now...So, for much of that crap, I ignore it....But it sure works up his opposition.....I think it's funny....

I think it's pretty clear that former Prez Bush does not agree with Trump on attacking the press.

The rest of the interview I thought he was more cautious in his statements.

But the Left hates the former president. YOU know you can't believe a thing that horrible man says...

Now I'll listen to what he said so I can see how you and perhaps the media are mischaractering the interview.

Edit... Is this how GWB rejected DTs immigration policy?

Thanks for not disappointing.

I think this is the one Americans should be listening to.

"We need an independent media to hold people like me to account," Bush told TODAY'S Matt Lauer.

I just see Trump being that humble and open...:lamo:lamo:lamo
