George W. Bush opens up on Trump's war with the media, Russia and travel ban

Suddenly you're a Bush fan? Give us a break will ya?

I Re-Read the Post ... Twice now, and I'm still looking for the part that brought you to this conclusion.

Could it possibly be because I didn't drop down to my knees in praise of The Don that you came to this conclusion?

Please enlighten us ...

Viva Trump! One month and one week into his new administration, the whole world has watched Trump lift Uncle Sam off the ground by his jacket lapels and dunk him baptism-style into the Giant Bucket of Trump Greatness! We watch Trump's engineers build Magnificent Pipelines and Walls, and drain the Imaginary Swamp! We see all the bad hombres either dying or running away like roaches and rats do after effective extermination. We see the delusional MSM and the fascist-Progressive Movement dumbfounded, baffled and wailing hopelessly after Trump exposed them for their Fake News. loyalty to Special Interests and general overall worthlessness to society. We see jobs, good jobs, great jobs everywhere! Next month, the ObamaCare Nightmare ends ... replaced by the all new and Magnificent TrumpCare! Don't ask about details. After all the great things Trump has done, never ever doubt him. Always and forever trust him! Welcome to the new and vastly improved America The Great! Thank you thank you thank you President Trump!

Close your eyes, say to yourself "I Love you President Trump. I believe in you President Trump." Use your imagination, rely on Alternative Facts... and just maybe, you too like the many lucky believers who already have, can find your way to an Alternate Reality called TrumpWorld!

Of course, the answer is obvious.

Just like the left's MSM partners, context has no place when attempting to invent a narrative that doesn't exist.

This should be the great concern to all citizens. A press that has become little more than a propaganda wing of a political party and agenda.

More concerning still, people willing to pick up their ball and run with it.

And IMHO, at this point the thread should close. The OP was not an honest assessment, therefore what should have been a fact based discussion on the interview with Matt Lauer from NBC, was editorialized by the opening poster, and is NOT breaking news, but opinion....That happens a lot here though so I don't necessarily blame him, just felt the need to point that out....

So without much ado....Thread should be closed.

notquiteright;1066931578]That is extremely funny coming from a poster who ranted and railed over a previous lost election... :lamo

What the hell are you talking about? You have me confused with someone else

Trump is constantly distracting from the 'people's business' with his childish tweets and silly lies.

That is being magnified by the left and absolutely meaningless

Congress isn't a national popular vote. Many right wing senators get elected in very sparse populated states. Never underestimate the power of greed and bigotry when appealing to people (I just didn't think THAT many would respond to it), but don't gloat too much, history shows nothing in politics is a lock.

Yes, Congress is elected by the popular vote and you lost. Obama's policies and legacy were on the ballot and were rejected

You dodge some more- I said the job creation 'wins' are silly LITTLE actions- far more PR than effect.

Got it, putting people back to work is a PR stunt? Tell that to the coal miners in W. Va. No wonder the left lost the Congress

Economic growth has been going on for some time now, did ya miss that???

No, you have missed it, coming off what the left called the worst recession since the Great Depression Obama never had ONE YEAR OF GDP growth of 3% or higher and that is a disaster

National Security???? That half butted EO was a dog that couldn't hunt, got sent back to the Rabid Right porch embarrassingly fast. Right out of the gate it's the Trump Amateur hour!:doh

right, putting a TEMPORARY BAN on immigration from 7 countries to assure our vetting system is working is terrible to you. I can tell how worried you are about our borders and evil wanting to get into this country

We do need security, we have had security- but in a free and open DEMOCRACY there are limits on what an 'over-reaching' government can do (GAWD I love being able to use the dribble the rabid right spouts right back at 'em!)

The President has the authority to keep people out of this country. No law was broken and the Immigration law wasn't even an issue with the 9th Circuit

I have no doubt many Trump echoes see no story to the Russian question. Howsomever many in Trump's party think otherwise and they are launching multiple investigations. Issa, no liberal is calling for a Special Prosecutor...

Again, for what reason? What laws were broken? Don't give a damn who calls for the special investigation, now answer the question

But the Left hates the former president. YOU know you can't believe a thing that horrible man says...

Now I'll listen to what he said so I can see how you and perhaps the media are mischaractering the interview.

Edit... Is this how GWB rejected DTs immigration policy?

Thanks for not disappointing.

How long did it take for you to interview that many people?

Or are you rounding up?

Knowing lefties hate Bush is common knowledge. The key word is common as in common sense, which doesn't seem to be so common around here.

Hi notquiteright, I am first off wondering why it is so many progressives keep re inventing this country as some kind of "Democracy" when it clearly is not....It is a representative republic, that elects it's governing bodies, and President by democratic process....That is completely different from a pure Democracy. But you know that....Right?

*tink, tink* hello?! You in there Cigar? Care to respond to my question about your OP?

In a wide-ranging interview that shied away from directly criticizing the current commander in chief, former President George W. Bush said it's critical for the media to hold accountable “people who abuse their power." He also rejected the current administration’s controversial immigration policy.

"I consider the media to be indispensable to democracy. We needed the media to hold people like me to account," Bush told TODAY in an exclusive interview. "Power can be very addictive and it can be corrosive, and it’s important for the media to call to account people who abuse their power."

I can't wait to see Don Tweeto's Tweet about "W" comment.

Bush has made himself very likable over the past 8-plus years.

Bush has made himself very likable over the past 8-plus years.

It was sort of hard to like him during the 8 years he was expanding the federal government, running up massive deficits, expanding welfare, paying off rich bankers with taxdollars, killing and maiming tens of thousands of US troops and a million Iraqis, lying about torture and extraordinary rendition, spying on every US citizen, creating ISIS, and covering up 9/11.

But besides that, yeah, he's pretty cool.

One of the worst presidents of all time, but at least he called this one correctly. Trump is constantly attacking the media, while they try to do their job. They have a responsibility to report what he tweets, what he says, and what he does.

Or moved to a more appropriate place.

Oh, "reporting".... Is that what you call it?

Compared to the buffoon sitting in the WH today, GWB was a dream.

funny, not funny haha but funny weird that of all people G W Bush would make such comments concerning accountability.

the press coddled G W like a baby after 9/11 for YEARS, never pried into the lies concerning Iraq until many years after the fact.

Chaos? the Middle East was completely destabilized as a consequence of the 2003 Iraq War.

we are STILL seeing the unintended consequences of the power vacuum created by Bush removing Saddam.

the Arab Spring aka revolts were a result of Bush's Iraq War.

Amazing how the press completely failed to ask the tough questions of G W Bush.

even more strange that Bush himself would have an opinion about the press questioning those with the power to bring the world such chaos.

I actually find this all absurd .......

Maybe dubya's having a guilt trip?

Because Donald Trump isn't a so-called journalist

But when he states something as fact - like his boast about the size of his Electoral College margin - that indeed is being taken as scripture by manyAmericans who see him say these things on news media outlets. He is indeed making news regardless if he is a journalist or not. You do NOT have to be a journalist to make the news or in this case make up crap and pass it off as news.

If you ignore his childish tweets, no distraction there. Your choice.

if he was back on reality TV no problem, but HELLLOOOOOO he is the leader of the free world!!!!!! :doh

But that is just one part of the issue... he lies constantly but the Echoes only see the occasional media story gone wrong...

His EO was damn near DOA so all sound and fury signifying nothing but a bombastic amateur is in Office... :(

But due excuse his ego driven childishness with we should ignore what the President says... :peace

Oh, "reporting".... Is that what you call it?

Yeppers, unlike the Trump Excuse makers, when the President releases a public statement the media has a duty to report it.

Even if it is an embarrassment to many... :peace

Oh forgot, you refuse to tell us how you came up with no republican wants his tax returns made public... come on now, back up what you say or are you copying Donald and refusing to back your statements up with anything close to a fact...

Ah, if the press would've only known this for the past 8 years....:peace

Hmmm...I don't recall making that statement...Maybe you could refresh my memory?

Compared to the buffoon sitting in the WH today, GWB was a dream.

So another anti Trump post from you, what a surprise. What exactly is it that you believe the President of the United States should do since apparently focusing on job creation, economic activity, and national security isn't at the top of your list? Instead you want to focus on tweets, Russian hacking, and anything else that diverts from the top priorities of any President. We all know you don't like Trump but he should be judged on his results, not the rhetoric or perception generated by the media and the left. His speech this week will be a home run but by all means ignore it and stay focused on fake news and irrelevant topics

What exactly are your expectations from the President since apparently economic activity, job creation, and national security are trumped by non significant issues like supposed Russian hacking that didn't change one vote, supposed interaction between Trump campaign officials and Russia. Your priorities seem all screwed up to me
