IMO this is good news = GOP Representative Issa calling for an official investigation into alleged Russia/Trump contacts; thoughts?

I think Trump should welcome it. Time to squelch this crap.
 
I certainly think there should be an independent investigator assigned to look into it. I think it's premature to say there should be a "Special Prosecutor". If or when the investigator finds probable cause to believe federal laws have been broken, then assign a special prosecutor.

this should be a no brainer to have this investigated
 
The FBI has already investigated and found nothing
 
Twitter, various tv interview appearances and town hall meetings have been rife with Republicans making comments alluding to the need for an independent investigation, a bipartisan committee or the need to demand Trump's tax returns. I have confidence that the instant there appears to be a lull in the excitement that these statements will evaporate. When an independent investigation actually materializes, wake me.

Trump tried getting intelligence officials and members of congress to quash the Russian stories, and he found friends there.

it may be done one day but not yet, according to Rep. Adam Schiff

there are at least three current & separate investigations looking into the alleged hacking during the campaign

the jury is still out .......... all in good time .........

Is there a law against hacking private email servers?

There might be

but then again what would you charge the hackers with even if you found them?

I am not a prosecutor so, I don't know the answers to your question(s).

Rep. Schiff is a former federal prosecutor.

Hopefully the investigations will be allowed to run their course & then the chips call fall where they may ........

Comey has not sent me an update recently

but we know the FBI has been looking at it according to news reports

Seems to me that Trump has already signaled his posture with yesterdays's gaggle exclusions and requesting the FBI/Congressmen to speak up on the administrations behalf regarding Russia.

With such overt signals, I don't see the GOP readily agreeing to a special prosecutor/investigator with subpoena powers.
 
So I just listened to Issa on Maher, and my takeaway is that going by his enthusiasm level as well as the utter contempt he had for Maher's left leaning crowd, anyone who thinks Issa is going to be a strong voice for an independent investigation is going to be sorely disappointed.

That's saying something, when staunch conservative and non-compromising Issa is ready for an investigation and the appointment of a special prosecutor, and Sessions and his deputy are not in charge of it (since Sessions and his deputy are political appointees & Sessions worked on the Trump campaign).

I hope they do this soon and get to the bottom of things. Everyone should welcome this. We need to know if Putin has puppets in our government If not, then the Trump administration can proceed w/o this cloud over their heads, and the public can breathe a sigh of relief.
