White House blocks News Organizations From Press Briefing

Thank you for posting this Breaking News of White House censorship of CNN, NYT, LAT, and Politico.

It's quite clear this is due to the White House denying wrongdoing in FBI conversations about Russia reporting.

I'm sure you all feel very comfortable with Sessions as AG.

Several news outlets allowed in, like AP, boycotted .

The day cannot come too soon when I can finally give my wife a positive reply to the question she asks me every morning after she wakes up knowing I have been awake for at least 90 minutes and am all caught up on the news during the night.

There should be no permanent membership in the press room. I vote for a daily lottery system. Same for the traveling corps.

Can I be the Debate Politics rep?

In an historic move by the Trump Administration, the White House has selectively banned media outlets from attending a press briefing. For the first time in American History, the fourth estate is under attack by a government out of control. This is only the beginning:

Remember all the people on the right hyperventilating because Obama tried to shut Fox News out? Yeah, me too. Anyone else complain about it then? Yeah, me. And unlike the Trump faithful, I won't be a hypocrite this time around. I'll call out Trump like I did Obama, and watch the Trump faithful rush to defend him on this.

I guess he only wants those friendly reporters in there so they can ask him tough questions like "When did you first realize you were awesome?" and "Does Melania always look so good in blue?"

I just saw it live on CNN when I turned on my TV so it took a minute for them to post it on the site. It does appear now that that is what they are linking it too because CNN broke that story.

I think CPAC knew this was going to happen, because earlier yesterday they were advertising a link to the Washington Times on their Facebook page: "Tired of #FakeNews? Want to know what #RealNews looks [like]? Head to Washington Times instead."

Got to love pushing the Moony Times as a standard bearer for "news."

So banning them from even accessing the White House is better?

There is a daily press briefing, or at least that's how it's been. I vote for daily press releases to let the public know what's going on. And a weekly QnA on late Friday afternoons. Why not?

You don't think they will?

The conservative alt-right outlets that were let in didn't call out the White House like AP, which boycotted the censored gaggle .

Dylan Byers: The press doesn't always get it right.

LOL!! The understatement of the man's life, eh?

But the problem isn't about the press not getting it right. The problem is the press deliberately spinning, lying, using innuendo and a host of other tactics to advance their narrative of the day against the Trump administration. THAT'S what the press needs to stop doing. THAT'S why this kind of exclusion happens.

Now...the press can continue their actions...they can express their butthurt whining...or they can change their ways. Their choice.

If obama had blocked Fox News you would be complaining how obama was a dictator. Is there anything you will call trump on?

And you call yourself a "libertarian" but favor the White House banning selected new media outlets from a briefing? :doh

Should an organization that cheated in the debates be allowed in the room? If so, why?

Do you realize that freedom of the press is a right?

I agree with the point, but there isn't really a right for a specific news org to be invited to the WH or anywhere else. But it's a troubling move because what he's done is obviously ban big, national news orgs that don't give him the coverage he wants.

If this continues it's a serious threat to really everything because of the implied threat underlying it all - report on us unfavorably and you lose all access to the WH.

First time my ass,

President Obama’s War on Journalists

“It amounted to open-ended government surveillance of a reporter’s communications.”

Outrage also ensued when the public learned that the Department of Justice had subpoenaed two months of Associated Press phone records for more than 20 telephone lines. “There can be no possible justification for such an over broad collection of the telephone communications of The Associated Press and its reporters,” said AP CEO Gary Pruitt at the time.

President Obama?s War on Journalists

And don't forget what they did to James Rosen.

So in other words, stop holding the administration responsible for its actions? Not allowed to point the bad things the administration is doing or the lies it is telling people. And websites like Breitbart are any better?

no surprises here; tRump is looking to be the next Hitler, no doubt .............

I have a GREAT idea; the press should boycott The White House ....... that would be ******* EPIC  ............

That doesn't answer my question Maggie. The press is allowed access to the White House. I assume something like FB Live could replace it, but why bother? You need reporters there to ask questions, even if their answers will be all talking points anyway. The government can't get away with allowing no questions from the press.

Don't you all get tired of being made to look so gullible with these fake outrage stories?

Obama vs. Fox - The San Diego Union-Tribune

Obama declared war on FOX, you all most likely supported it.

Please to explain.

Let's be serious - no one on the right gave even a little damn when Fox did that for years with Obama and democrats. So what you're whining about is negative coverage. Well, it happens to every president and they have managed to deal with it for a long, long time without banning people who don't toe their line.

CNN is not entitled special access to the white house.

They are just one of many news organizations who make their money by reporting news.
