Conservative leaders declared war on the ethno-nationalist alt-right Thursday, tossing one of that movements top figures out of the Conservative Political Action Conference, saying they don't want their causes tainted by racist, sexist or anti-Semitic messages.

If anyone on this forum has a problem with that action let's hear your story.

I was glad to see this happen.

Even stranger, why is Mark Zuckerberg throwing money at CPAC?

A pillar of famously liberal Silicon Valley is underwriting Washington’s biggest gathering of conservatives.
Sources with direct knowledge of the matter tell The Daily Beast that Facebook made a six-figure contribution to CPAC, the yearly conference for conservative activists which will feature President Donald Trump, White House advisor Steve Bannon, NRA president Wayne LaPierre, and other right-wing favorites.
Facebook’s contribution is worth more than $120,000.

I've never heard of Richard Spencer. Why is this important? Seems to me he is some fringe element of society who has no relation to the conservative movement.

FWIW, Spencer is the guy who had viral video of a Trump rally in DC the day after the election, where they chanted "Heil Trump" while elevating their right arms in Nazi fashion.

The conservatives were absolutely right in tossing him (and his ilk) out.

But Bannon was front and center.

No, my critique with CPAC is its pedestrian nature. To me, they may as well had kept Milo up there. CPAC, aside from getting well-placed politicians, is kind of a joke.

The best way to make war on bigotries is to be honest about reality. We have not been honest and have grown a fine crop of horrible bigots on the right and on the left.
