Hundreds of campuses encourage students to turn in fellow students for offensive spee

Re: Hundreds of campuses encourage students to turn in fellow students for offensive

I get that you don't believe in the Constitution.

:lamo

News flash, Renae: If the Trump train arrives at the gas chambers some day soon--and I will NOT accept any attempts to gaslight me into believing that that isn't an outside possibility--let's just say that you would be in line well in front of me. But we'd both be in line.

There are no Trump Trains, no Gas Chambers and that absurdity belittles you as a person. Come on, you're better than that ****.

And there's the gaslighting. Right on cue.

Let me guess, you think that you'll be able to escape transphobia simply because of your personal beliefs, right?

Re: Hundreds of campuses encourage students to turn in fellow students for offensive

We're not talking about a professionally trained profiler. We're talking random citizens who will call the police or FBI on you because you happen to be a while male, 30-45 with no other information, proof, or observation that you've done anything wrong. Narc Before Thought.

I think we are

The highly trained and infallible shrink is not roaming the streets picking up people who fit his profile

Anyone can be on the lookout for anyone who fits the profile hanging around the children's playground

Or even just passing by

So the solution is more government monitoring, huh?

No the solution is stop illegal aliens at the border as they try to climb over the wall, sometimes with their bundle of illegal drugs

Re: Hundreds of campuses encourage students to turn in fellow students for offensive

No, you're not. You just don't want your side criticized, this is how partisans behave. The other side is always wrong, their side is always right. Never question their own side, always attack the other side.

Narc Before Thought is not limited to just the "left". Both arms of the Republocrats use it.

My side gets attacked all the time

But on this thread its your turn

Re: Hundreds of campuses encourage students to turn in fellow students for offensive

That's a stupid argument. If I don't like the religious classes that a school teaches, I can still avoid them.

Thats a stupid argument. You cant avoid paying for public schools which restrict speech.

Re: Hundreds of campuses encourage students to turn in fellow students for offensive

"Go back to Africa", "We are building a wall, how's that make you feel speedy gonzalez", "bunch of monkeys"

Is an example of offensive speech, which is being used amd what schools are trying to get a handle on. Any student has the right to be there and the right to not be afraid of their fellow students. These statements also violate pretty much every schools honor code. Im all for student solidarity, but how does one stand beside another student calling you a "Nigger Lover"? Why defend a person who is trying to terrorize you?

And why would a school want a student that could ultimately tarnish their repututation. It's not indoctrination, its protecting your other students from a potential hate crime. And guess what schools have been doing this for a long time, I know people that were kicked out for **** they said on facebook. And I know a couple people kicked out for making a porn in their dorm. Didn't see anyone bitching about moral indoctrination then.

Stop hating liberals because for profit schools are making business decisions that "violate" your right to abuse people in public for being different. Otherwise, those schools might start looking the other way when you right to not get your ass kicked for saying stupid **** starts getting violated.

Source?

teaching students that they can't say everything that pops into their heads at any given time they want isn't restricting speech. It's teaching them to use common sense so that people in the real world won't ostrichsize them in various social settings, like the workplace.

 wait... wait, wait..... You truly believe that with Trump as president it is entirely possible that he will set up gas chambers like the nazis and start gassing people?

Seriously?

I don't think you know what "gaslighting" means.

Call me when the Transphobia takes real shape. And Don't try to say the recension of Obama's Trans Bathroom decree, that was Federal overreach.

Encouraging students to report each other to the authorities to be judged and punished IS restricting speech. They can learn how to socialize from their parents and friends.

Oh yes, because nothing says college like having your parents follow you around saying, "Honey, you can't say that." Or "What the heck are you wearing that for?" And friends are always the best judge of character :)

I can sense by your sarcasm, you arent interested in a serious debate.

A student activist group at the University of Michigan is demanding campus officials provide them with “a permanent designated space on central campus for Black students and students of color to organize and do social justice work.”

What is this teaching students?

That's what you do in college. Sometimes when you go away to school, you get exposed to a lot of different environments, people and situations that you never encountered at home. How are you supposed to learn from your parents what to do then?

Its already learned. College isnt there to be your mommy, and learning how to behave by offending people and suffering the social consequences will teach you a lot more than being treated like a snowflake and protected from every mean thing someone might say.

Um you are confounding two different things. These groups are concerned about the language or whatever, after the fact. They aren't predicting what students will say and punishing them for stuff that they might say. And Yes, College helps a lot more people than their parents ever did. I knew many people in college who were utterly unprepared for it because their parents didn't have it as well as mine did. My parents are diligent, multi-taskers, business owners, and they are on top of everything in their lives. Millions of other people aren't like that.

The topic is about schools encouraging people to be thought police. How could that not be chilling of free speech, knowing that someone listening could get you put before the authorities? Its counter to everything this country is about. And if schools are teaching this then they are teaching americans to be opposite of the entire purpose of this country.

Re: Hundreds of campuses encourage students to turn in fellow students for offensive

Reminds me of the 1960's peace movement among college campuses. Probably paid for and organized by those very same people from the 60's.

yeah - the who gave me my check for the Jan 21 march is the same guy who used to pay me for anti-Viet Nam protests in 68 - 72. In fact, it was nice to see him again after all these years and he is training his granddaughter to take over for him down the road. :doh:roll:
