Trump family trips cost taxpayers $11.3m in one month = Obama $12m in 1 YEAR

Only because Republicans have been griping for 4 years that Obama spends too much money traveling with his family.

Now here we are with Trump spending $500,000 per day so his wife can live in NYC while he lives in DC. And they fly to Florida every weekend which costs $11 million a month.

Obama's travel cost $12 million a year.

Will the Republicans show blatant hypocrisy by being ok with this?

In a normal universe this would be something worth making fun of due to all the crap the Obamas took for their vacations (even though there weren't even that many in relation to many Presidents). In the rearview mirror of history, however, and compared to everything else going on, Trump's vacations will be forgotten at best, and remembered for his non-secure "situation room" incident at worst.

Because money matters. That's what the main purpose of his Presidency is about, supposedly. Huge tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation, jobs. All so people can get more money. Obamacare...to save the country's money. Possible cuts to Social Security & Medicare...to save money.

But suddenly we have a billion dollars to fly Trump and his family around this year, and staff an entire floor at Trump Tower with Secret Service, eating high on the hog and living the good life in a gilded castle.

We suddenly have deep pockets for a multi-billion $ wall and a big infrastructure package, and increasing the budget of ICE.

The President is having a mental breakdown, and demanding we spend huge sums of money to fly his family around because he doesn't want to live in the tacky White House. And we just do that? That's unreasonable. He is the head of the Executive Branch. He's not King.

This is all part of his mental issue. It needs to stop. This is getting more serious by the day.

Ask Trump. He'll tell you: Everything is about money....for him. As he said, "I love spending other people's money."

I can't find anywhere in the Constitution where it says that the president has to be in the White House 24/7.
 
IT should be pointed out that the figures used are including Trump and his adult children in the totals. Obama had younger children that didn't travel internationally for work. The comparisons between the two are not exactly fair.


I've always been a fan of setting a limit on security for the president and his family and charge for any overages.

No, you need to get better sources and learn the difference between the Deficit and Debt. Deficit is the annual budget short fall that creates the National Debt. Since Obama increased the National Debt more than the previous 43 president combined it is impossible that he actually lowered the deficit. When Obama came into office he immediately quadrupled the deficit and later cut it in half. Obama got to lie that he just cut the deficit in half because it was still technically Bushes budget when he quadrupled it and then under his own budget when he cut it in half.

The surplus was more from Newts Contract with America than Clinton. Bush inherited a recession and the foreign policies that caused 911. Even with the wars he only increased the Debt about a third of what Obama did.

I stand corrected I was going from memory when I said the Obama family Africa vacation cost $50 million. Several sources including your own say it was $60 to $100 million. I don't care what it is compared to Bush. I bring that trip up because it alone was more than yours original source says was spent on Obama vacations in all 8 years. So your source is B.S. With Obama taking the mother in law and 20 other family members it was a vacation.

Your source never cites any official numbers, they just speculate how much tax dollars was spent on Trump travels. The Trumps may have paid for it themselves, they can and are the types who would.

What pissed most people off about Obama opulent vacations is: without Tax payer funded public office they would be riding Greyhound not flying in private jets.

The only time that I "complained" about any of Obama's trips was when he took his family with him for a vacation to another country. That said, I think that this may be a bit much even for me. Assuming that it's true of course. Frankly I can't put much trust in ANY media anymore. But yeah, if it is true I think Trump needs to settle his ass down. (on more levels than one)

If it's Trump hypocrisy, No. No, Trumpers here don't have the stones to admit double standards. Trumper's will never admit that criticisms levied at Obama, don't matter once a conservative is in office. They think Trump still has time to "prove himself" Problem is, if he continues in this trajectory, then he's just going to prove that he's a liar and a con man. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, probably a duck. They'll blame the media, and "the left" for being biased and one sided. But, it's all projection.

Especially when it concerns the deficit Trump's tax cuts are going to explode. $5T over 10 years. Since a republican is in office, spending programs on walls and infrastructure are A OK. We're deficit hawks but, not about tax cuts. That's Conservative ideology 101.. give the rich huge tax cuts, create a budget shortfall, point the shortfall as an excuse to cut spending, and then sell off underfunded public institutions to private interest.
