Trump to Announce Alexander Acosta as New Labor Secretary Pick - NBC News

Acosta served as assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division under President George W. Bush, selected by the president in August 2003. Acosta was a member of the National Labor Relations Board and also served as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division. Most recently, he was the dean of Florida International University College of Law.

He appears to be a much more solid pick for the job.
I doubt there will be much opposition to him. if dem's try then they are clearly just being
the party of no.

I don't know much about him, but he sounds like a safe pair of hands.

Looks reasonable at first glance.

yea I don't see much that anyone could complain about.

If the pick is as reasonable as assumed - and that I really don't know - maybe government is beginning to function again. ;)

I can accept that pick. He's got experience. He also has never engaged in wage theft or beaten his wife.

You can thank Oprah for this reasonable pick.

Great example of fake news. Congrats.

Trump retreated somewhat. A far better nomination than Puzder.

I agree he's a better pick for the job but he ain't really a drain the swamp kind of guy. Perhaps Donald is starting to learn that it really isn't as easy as he made it sound to the legions of faithful.

Or he is appointing the best guy for the job.

That would be a refreshing change. As far as I can see the only person he's appointed who's actually qualified for the job is Mattis.

opinions are great things. you are able to have one.

honestly he has a pretty good cabinet.

Yup. And I'm not shy about giving it.

Many of his picks seem capable in their areas of expertise but few have them have expertise relevant to the jobs their going to do. Tillerson seems extremely capable but what does he really know about foreign policy?

And few of them actually know how government works. The federal government isn't a private enterprise and can't be managed like one.

I'd argue that Tillerson knows foreign policy and how the government works far better than people like Kerry or Hillary, who don't really understand the interworking of foreign business, politics, and procedures like he does.

That's our problem in government. A bunch of attorneys who never practiced law making decisions about business, economics, military, and foreign policy without a stitch of an idea what they're doing.

Well, Acosta is also qualified. That makes 2.
