First on CNN: Top Senate Republicans urge White House to withdraw Puzder nomination

Wed February 15, 2017

Top Senate Republicans have urged the White House to withdraw the Andrew Puzder nomination for labor secretary, a senior GOP source said, adding there are four firm Republican no votes and possibly up to 12. Puzder needs at least 50 votes to pass with the tie-breaking vote of Vice President Mike Pence, and Republicans only hold control of 52 seats. Puzder, the CEO of the company that owns the Hardee's and Carl's Jr. fast food chains, has faced fierce opposition mostly from Democrats in part related to his position on labor issues as well as the fact that he employed an undocumented housekeeper.
Trump nominated one of America's most anti-labor CEO's as his Secretary of Labor. If at least four Republicans are a firm no, then not even Pence can salvage this douche.

Sources say he will withdraw citing being tired of the abuse he and his ex-wife have been receiving.

I think the answer is that the GOP would rather approve someone with a high level vision they buy into regardless of their qualifications than someone with the chops to implement a competing philosophy.

How do you define anti-labor? Are you using it synonymous to any-union? You know those aren't the same things, right?

He's out.

Labor pick Puzder withdraws from consideration amid controversy | Fox News

He said in a statement Wednesday afternoon:

"After careful consideration and discussions with my family, I am withdrawing my nomination for Secretary of Labor. I am honored to have been considered by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Labor and put America's workers and businesses back on a path to sustainable prosperity. I want thank President Trump for his nomination. I also thank my family and my many supporters-employees, businesses, friends and people who have voiced their praise and hopeful optimism for the policies and new thinking I would have brought to America as Secretary of Labor. While I won't be serving in the administration, I fully support the President and his highly qualified team."

The Latest: Puzder Withdraws Nomination for Labor Secretary

February 15, 2017

Andrew Puzder says he is withdrawing as President Donald Trump's nominee for labor secretary. The fast food executive says in a statement provided to The Associated Press that he was "honored to have been considered by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Labor and put America's workers and businesses back on a path to sustainable prosperity." Puzder says "while I won't be serving in the administration, I fully support the President and his highly qualified team." Puzder's confirmation hearing was scheduled for Thursday. But some Republicans had raised concerns about his failure to pay taxes for five years on a former housekeeper who wasn't authorized to work in the U.S. Puzder is CEO of CKE Restaurants Inc.
Good riddance.

LOL, as if people wonder daily what the Labor Secretary is up to.

This is like celebrating a preseason victory in the NFL.

Is that what it's like Erod?

Do a column comparison between Puzder and DeVos and tell me the difference to do with why Puzder is going down and DeVos did not.

possibly up to 12.
This writer really could have spiced it up if he had said, when it comes to no votes, there are over 9000!

But I still can't comprehend why he's withdrawing his nomination. If that's what helps him sleep at night more power to him. The "controversy" was that he approved racy ads. I do think that it's Hilarious that a fast food exec decided to withdraw his om nom nomination due to a giant nothingburger.

No.

On the eve of Puzder's long-delayed confirmation hearing, some Republicans said Wednesday they're concerned over his failure to pay taxes for five years on a former housekeeper who wasn't authorized to work in the U.S.

The anti-illegal immigrant President nominated someone who hired illegals and then DIDN'T pay their taxes. lol
