After Flynn resigns, Dems ask what did Trump know and when

The message Flynn delivered was taken very seriously by Moscow. For the first time ever, Putin did not mirror Obama's punitive measures.

That's because Putin was secretly aware that Trump had figuratively tossed Obama's sanctions out the window via Flynn.
Do you have some way of proving that claim? As to Obama - of course, why get into a spat with a guy on his way out and merely posturing?

My concern is, why? Was he told to? He was military, I don't see him going behind the back of his President on his own. If he was told to have the talk, someone tossed him under the bus, didn't they.
And why then, what was the urgency? It was down to the countdown to the inauguration, why did someone feel the need to talk about sanctions to the Russians at that point?
Hearing rumours now that there might have been even earlier contact. This story won't be wished away.

Questions, but no answers - so what is your concern? But, you are right, this story isn't going away. Nor will any other made up story used to attack the President, it is the style of the modern Democratic Party - destroy the Constitution of necessary but undo the last election.

So then Trump fired him for no reason. Just because of speculation. The erosion of trust was because he said nothing at all. Okay.

No. If you were paying attention, and judging from this post you absolutely aren't, he was asked to resign/fired because he was not honest with Pence. We do not, at this time, know the content of either Flynn's conversation with his Russian counterpart, nor do we know the content of his conversation with Pence.

They (some of the inner circle of the White House) know the content of these conversations, we do not. Nor does the press know the exact content of these conversations. Nor does the Democrat leadership calling for an independent counsel, which considering the number of fishy things that went down in Obama's White House, is fairly hypocritical.

You think this was all 'made up' by the Democratic Party? Were they responsible for the God-awful weather we had here last week, too?

Yes, he was asked to resign because he's a liar. He lied to Pence when he said he didn't discuss sanctions. That's what you're saying. You don't say someone is not honest with Pence if you don't know what he wasn't honest about.

Pay attention.

I've been blaming the ****ing Russians for the 3 ****ing snow storms that we had in NH. Shame on me. Apparently the damn Democrats were behind it.

As a civilian and a proposed part of the next Administration I am aware of no restriction to talking to anyone. Obviously he was not in a position to make agreements, but talk????

Now, since you cannot state what it was he discussed, just what is your problem with the phone call??

A "proposed part of the next Administration". I've never heard a person referred to that way.

I don't care about the phone call. I care about our President knowing he was a liar and allowing him to continue to get the daily briefings. I care about the President not telling his own Vice President for weeks that he was lied to, and sent out on national television to continue the lying. Flynn's gone. Trump isn't.

Nah, not the Demokkkrats.

That was we gays that did that. :2razz:

No - as political opportunists the Ds are just jumping from phony crisis to phony crisis, anything to obstruct, delay undo the attempts of President Trump to fulfill his campaign promises.

And no, the weather isn't their fault. Everyone knows it is the fault of the Republicans - ask Al Gore.

He was mentioned for the job but not yet official or confirmed - hence "proposed part".

Are you concerned that the intel community illegally leaked confidential data for political purposes? It seems to me that for the safety of our nation, that is more important than what the Prez and his people talk about among themselves.

I'm concerned about leaks. I was concerned about them a few months ago. Years ago, in fact. I don't know that it was for political purposes. Can you provide a link to support that please?

Do you really not see leaks about Trump to be politically motivated? What other purpose could it serve?

He was a civilian at the time, and Russian sanctions were the responsibility of the sitting President, who wasn't Donald Trump.

It's actually a very big deal.
To be fair, we don't know what was discussed.

I agree. Not until we get the tape. I assume he discussed sanctions because Trump fired him because he lost trust in him for lying to Pence, so unless there's something else he lied to Pence about...

It's not political, it's patriotic to protect America from being blackmailed by Russia.

General Flynn was a member of President Trump's transition team. That means he was a few pay grades above a private citizen.

And of course he was a civilian. President Trump is a civilian.

Your statement is obtuse. You know what he's saying. If you're not a member of the administration you cannot discuss matters of the country with leaders of other countries. We do have laws.......someone needs to tell the "law and order" president about them.

The Logan Act (1 Stat. 613, 18 U.S.C. § 953, enacted January 30, 1799 ) is a United States federal law that details the fine and/or imprisonment of unauthorized citizens who negotiate with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States.

You must have missed the part where I pointed out that General Flynn was a part of President Trump's transition team.

You want to post laws? Here's one...

The Espionage Act: Whoever knowingly and willfully communicates … or otherwise makes available to an unauthorized person, or publishes … any classified information … obtained by the processes of communication intelligence from the communications of any foreign government … shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.

You are assuming you know the details, just like the press. I am paying attention. Enough attention that I understand we don't know the details. Why are you assuming you do?
