Detroit is the way it is because of years of racist Democrat policy, first in slavery and civil rights abuses and then in creating an environment where welfare can take the place of a father. Detroit's been run solely by Democrats for over 50 years straight.

I mean i've run into problems just getting into Canada as an American, because the border agents thought a car of 19 year olds (going to drink) was suspicious. That's not exactly a national security threat as Trump is claiming. His hysteria puts border agents on alert, so i'm pretty certain any kids from this international school who look brown are going to get stopped. Border agents have a ton of leeway. I wouldn't make the effort to enter this country period right now unless i'm white. Which is exactly what the deplorables want

The guy has been president for 3 weeks. Did the supposed 'problems' you encountered crossing the boarder happen before or after he took office?

From my reading, this is more about exposing the kids to possible border crossing issues, rather than an inherent danger within American society.

And after the past several weeks, it might be a legit concern.

My son grew up in a very multicultural place. He and a group of friends set off to Seattle to a concert a few years ago and had big trouble at the border. One of them was a Lebanese citizen but was born in Abu Dhabi, while his father worked there. The border guards couldn't seem to get it that in some Muslim societies you get your nationality from your father, not from the country you were born in. After an hour that guy was refused entry so they all came back home.
Maybe the concern is that they don't want a teacher to have to deal with that kind of complication.

They could be a Syrian Canadian with a dual passport, or a somali Canadian with a dual passport or a permanent resident of Canada from one of the 7 countries listed.

From the posted comments it is rather obvious that some did not bother to click on the link in the OP. A little bit of racism, some Islamophobia and general ignorance are apparently just fine with a few people

That was before the most recent court rulings but, as Canadian authorities have acknowledged, there is still much uncertainty.

While there are regulations and guidelines to follow, Masse said individual border agents are given much discretion on deciding for themselves who gets into the U.S.

One must wonder about the limits as to the "discretion" allowed to border agents when we have reports of children under the age of 12 being handcuffed while detained and families held for 20 hours and given no food.

You either haven't read or tend to ignore the reports about those who have been detained at the border. In every case those detained have been separated from the group or people they are traveling with, this has included minors.

I am thinking you never crossed the boarder in a school bus between Windsor and Detroit.

The boarder guards have the authority to detain a person for hours if they so desire. School trips are on a limited time.

They need to get the students back on time.

I went on school trips from suburbia Detroit to Windsor as a parent chaperone a few times.

If I'm not mistaken if one is rejected entry they are escorted back to their side of the border. They don't just keep you there in limbo saying "you can't come into America but you're also not going back to Canada either."
