'U.S. Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch told a Democratic senator he found Donald Trump’s comments "disheartening" and "demoralizing" when the president criticized the judiciary over a federal court order that blocked his immigration ban.

Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut told reporters about Gorsuch’s comments after meeting privately Wednesday with Trump’s first U.S. high court nominee. Ron Bonjean, a spokesman aiding Gorsuch in the confirmation process, confirmed Blumenthal’s account of their conversation in an e-mail and said Gorsuch "used the words disheartening and demoralizing."

"He certainly expressed to me that he is disheartened by demoralizing, abhorrent comments made by President Trump about the judiciary," Blumenthal said outside his Senate office. "But I will be asking for more specific and forthcoming comments to those kinds of questions before I determine how I will vote.”'

I'll let you know what I think after I read Trump's inevitable barrage of ugly Tweets about this so-called SCOTUS nominee.

By the way, I agree with Gorsuch's assessment of the asinine words of the man sitting in the Oval Office.

What do you expect from someone who said this on this topic: ""I was a good student. I understand things. I comprehend very well. OK? Better than, I think, almost anybody. And I want to tell you, I listened to a bunch of stuff last night on television that was disgraceful," Trump said, referring to the appeals court proceedings." and clearly is better than everyone else?

He probably said disheartening and demoralizing. I'd tend to agree with him. What he didn't say is abhorrent.

D's are going to find it impossible to stonewall this guy, he is a very good politician.

I agree with Neil's statement. It would to Trump some good if he would try not to insult and demean everyone he disagrees with for a change.

I don't think we have ever had a president that was more mentally unfit for the office as Trump. Would be fascinating to be able to read a history book's chapter about him 100 years from now.

He made it all the way to the presidency insulting and demeaning everyone he disagrees with, so why would he change now? If you continually hold President Trump to the standard of common decency, you are in for a disappointing 4 years.

Maybe he's not one of "them" after all.

Oh, I'm not expecting Trump to change. This is who he is.

It's just wishful thinking on my part.

"The courts seem to be so political, and it would be so great for our justice system if they would be able to read a statement and do what’s right, and that has got to do with the security of our country, which is so important," Trump told a conference of police chiefs and sheriffs in Washington.

Ummmm...the courts ARE too political and the justices DO use their political views to reach rulings.

Also...

has questioned the credibility of a Republican-appointed judge who dared rule against his legally dubious executive order and he has tested the bounds of our Constitution in the first days of his presidency like no other occupant of this office,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer

:lamo History is not Schumers strong suit. Did he ever hear of people like Lincoln, FDR and LBJ.?No? Lol.

Where is trump wrong?

he is correct in the fact that he has the power to do this. congress gave this power in 1952.
Nothing he is doing is unconstitutional.

Gorsuch Calls Trump’s Comments on Judiciary ‘Disheartening

my guess is that he has marching orders to oppose Trump on this from Trump himself. that would be a pretty smart move. all he has to do is signal that he isn't in lockstep, and that will do wonders to grease his confirmation. when you think about it, all any nominee has to do is throw a tomato or two, and then they're in.

Nomination revoked!

Lincoln was suicidal. But I know what you mean, he's petulant. I brought this up the other day, but he kind of reminds me of Steve Jobs, who was also extremely arrogant and petulant at times but also obviously incredibly successful. According to some of Job's employees, there were two kinds of people as far as he was concerned, gods and ****heads, which is kind of like Trump where people are either amazing or disasters. Jobs would also flat out lie at times and take credit for ideas his employees would come up with. It's funny but for someone who seemed to bend reality so often in order to will people to do what he wanted them to do, which he very often did, Jobs really (obviously) had some excellent ideas or at least recognized and adopted amazing ideas and at the end of the day most of his employees and Apple die hards really loved him. Will Trump ultimately achieve incredible results for America like Jobs did for Apple, that remains to be seen and therefore I agree with you last sentence.

LOL, I'm sorry, but that's highly doubtful. The man is not that nuanced.

The question is why the nominee might have said it to the Senator and why the Senator retold or invented the story.

LOL, I'm sorry, but that's highly doubtful. The man is not that nuanced.

he has advisors. at least a few of them are probably clever, and he randomly listens. i'll be curious to see his response to the attack. that should be somewhat informative.

LOL, I'm sorry, but that's highly doubtful. The man is not that nuanced.

False, it was widely reported that Trump told his cabinet to tell Congress what ever they felt was the truth, to not feel like they need to defend Trumps views, which most have done.

Probably? Yet you assert that he did not say it?

I didn't hear it, but I believe he said disheartening and demoralizing. I do not think he said abhorrent. Those were the words of the Senator. If you don't get that, not my problem. No one couches their criticism using disheartening and demoralizing and then throws in abhorrent. It's not being reported that way in other sources.

It almost makes you wish the Left hadn't forced their agenda down the country's throat, huh?

I wonder Gorsuch really said that. You know what they say about second hand information.

A powerful argument for putting Gorsuch on the SCOTUS.
