That's false, obviously. When the law enters the gray area, which is by definition where the appeals courts and USSC operate, competent, learned, intellectually honest judges and lawyers often just disagree on the merits. That's in part why at those levels there is often not a unanimous opinion, but rather big splits - sometimes at the USSC, the 9 justices will have 3 or 4 different opinions, agree in part, disagree in part, etc.....
In that case the law is an ass
And that's why the public is losing respect for the courts
Particularly the activist high court which has no higher court to overturn its decisions
