HOUSTON — They gathered after nightfall at an undisclosed location downtown.
People representing more than a half-dozen protest groups that are set to march and rally here Super Bowl weekend met to coordinate their efforts — in a way New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick would have appreciated. That is to say, the protesters discussed using encrypted communication that would keep opponents from intercepting their messages.

It was so secretive Tuesday night, not all of the group representatives got the full game plan, said Blake Stroud, who created a group called #ResistHouston to connect the protesters and provided USA TODAY Sports with an account of the meeting.
“I guess they’re going for the element of surprise,’’ he said.

The goal: Present a large, loud, peaceful and, in the end, united front, mostly targeting President Trump and his policies on immigration. No fewer than five marches and rallies are scheduled across Houston for Friday through Sunday, and the protests will culminate on game day outside NRG Stadium, site of Super Bowl LI.

These folks really know how to make friends and enfluence people don't they?? I predict there will be around 50 million pissed off football fans out here if they manage to disrupt the game, even some Democrats.

As long as it's peaceful, that's fine:

You do realize, of course, that constant, in-your-face protests aren't going to persuade anybody, right?

Ya know how you don't hear about a lot of violent protests in Texas? There's a reason.

It won't be peaceful. The jackwagons are organizing to be there, from out of town.

Greetings, humbolt. :2wave:

Quell surprise? ... They're getting careless. Passenger lists are not released, which is why I questioned how so many protestors had suddenly become clairvoyant.... :lamo

It's almost like they didn't care who might be on those flights. "Tell them you're Muslim....tell them you're Muslim."

Targeting?!?!

What is this, Sarah Palin's America?

(Tongue-in-cheek throwback to DailyKos outrage of 2008)

Well, if they do that, I suspect that the outcome will finally come to a head, trust me, football fans love football, and N OTHING interferes with football, and, well, the carry guns and stuff. this might be the end of their little temper tantrums. The money they're making off Soros seems tiny in comparison to dead rioters on the ground. Texas allows their citizens to protect themselves against violence. I really, super duper hope they make this error in judgement.

Tim-

If they disrupt anything or vandalize anything they'll go to a Texas prison for a long time. It ain't California.
That's a good point. Most of these violent and destructive protests have been in liberal havens.

That I don't know. It took a long time to end the war ('Nam).

But regardless, they have every right to exercise their 1stA. If they're smart, they'll include voter registration into this.

Doesn't seem to be very secretive lol.

This might get real interesting. Texas is a little different than other states when it comes to protecting private property.

A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property:

(1) if he would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.41;  and

(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:

(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime;  or

(B) to prevent the other who is fleeing immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the property;  and

(3) he reasonably believes that:

(A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means;  or

(B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.

This isn't Nam, dude. This is obnoxious alt-left crybabies having a temper tantrum not a political movement.

Protest is the most American thing there is. A society that has free speech has nothing to fear.

(BTW, its "influence")

Free speech is fine...Until your free speech infringes on others rights and safety...Then it isn't.

A secret Trump protest planned for Houston at the Super Bowl???

Okay. I won't tell anybody.

Mum's the word.

My lips are sealed.

LOL

In terms of efficacy of the revolt - maybe, maybe not.

But we haven't seen anything like this since 'Nam either, including the anti-Iraq War movement.

And I predict Trump will continue to alienate, and likely run afoul of the courts. His Travel Ban has already been restrained, and very possibly headed to the SCOTUS.

I can only imagine you during the Boston Tea Party.

The anarchists that disrupted and broke the law need to be punished....but they are not representative of the opposition, they are just goons that want to break stuff.
