Obama's sanctions against Russia's FSB are now lifted (ie. no longer in effect)

TASS: World - US eases sanctions against Russian Federal Security Service

According to the license, "all transactions and activities" with participation of the Russian Federal Security Service, prohibited earlier by executive orders of the US President of April 1, 2015 and December 28, 2016, are authorized with certain exceptions.

In particular, "requesting, receiving, utilizing, paying for, or dealing in licenses, permits, certifications, or notifications issued or registered by the Federal Security Service (FSB) for the importation, distribution, or use of information technology products in the Russian Federation," is allowed.

Well comrades, it's turning into quite a favorable news day. All this time being a Paid Russian Troll - without being paid or being Russian - is finally paying off. What's that I hear? Is it the sound of Lefties sobbing?

Yes. Trump's been very encouraging of the FSB and its activities right here in the home land. But this wasn't even his idea, right?
So what's your point?

"Come on in, KGB! Pleased to meet you. Do go ahead and make yourselves at home, because we know that once you're here, you may never go away."

To the left, Russia was only cool when they were Communist. If you even made the assertion that Russians were in our government back then, you were a crazy-ass McCarthyist who had no idea what he was talking about.

Now that times have changed, it's perfectly acceptable to taunt nuclear powers if election meddling?

In either case it is obvious that election meddling is wrong. I just find it hilarious the left decided to don the mantle of Patriotism all of the sudden when it was convenient.

I wish I knew more about this. I'm not quite understanding this. Did these sanctions have an expiry date? Why would we be easing sanctions on light of the investigation into hacking? And why were they put on in the first place?

This sounds incongruous.

Harwood the reporter on CNBC & not a Trump lover said this is much ado about nothing. These are some technical changes which Harwood termed "not newsworthy".

Thanks for this, Washunut.

Well duh! The Trump administration's middle name is incongruous.

Funny he hasn't said a word about Russians latest aggression in Ukraine. Of course he once said he didn't believe Russian was even there or behind that.

You Lefties would know - since you were trying to invite them in throughout the Cold War - when it actually mattered. Who gave them the secrets to the Bomb? Wasn't anyone from the Right.

Trump should just completely remove all sanctions. There's no point in taking a measured response. The MSM have already shown that they're going to lie and make stuff up no matter what.

I think when Russian starts making it's move on NATO countries Trump won't lift a finger.

Ukraine - bah - Ukraine is weak.

Initially, the sanctions put in place by the Obama Administration were a straight restriction against the sell of goods to the FSB as an intelligence arm in Russia. According to this article from Reuters.com, the U.S. Treasury Dept has been working on a deal since December 2016 that would allow U.S. tech companies to sell portable electronic devices, i.e., cellphones, tablets and some commercial software - all encryption capable - to Russia through the FSB. I guess U.S. tech companies (and the State Dept.) figure as long as you can keep data secure using these imported commercial products, it should help keep the KGB spies honest.

But that's what I got from the article. It boiled down to keeping American tech jobs gainfully employed by not cutting out a viable Asian market.

To Bannon With Love; while trump, his lying spokespeople, and the trumpistani deflectors and deniers are saying that the sanctions were NOT eased. Who's lying ?

Russia intensifying its war against Ukraine rewarded with easing of sanctions on Putin and his KGB that hacked Clinton .

Still not able to tell the difference between a hack and a leak?

Hack, schmack - people voted with their eyes wide open. If Putin himself had flown to the US to stump for Trump directly, it still wouldn't have made a difference. 8 years of hard-left policies, and they keep fantasizing Americans want more. Sorry, it's time for a change.

To Bannon/trump With Love;

Tass is bragging Bannon/trump eased sanctions on putin's KGB.

Putin blames Ukraine for increased Russian aggression.

Putin's Iran continues to laugh at Bannon/trump .

Dat strawman.

You do realize that you are bitching about a change made under the Obama administration, right?

Harwood the reporter on CNBC & not a Trump lover said this is much ado about nothing. These are some technical changes which Harwood termed "not newsworthy".

The problem I have is that had the exact same adjustment originated in the Trump WH instead of the Obama WH Harwood would have reported this entirely differently. Since he couldn't avoid the fact that the change originated in the Obama administration he decided it is "not newsworthy".

Yesterday was a banner day for the media.. we got three whole fake news stories about Trump dominating the morning news.
