Sen. John Barrasso, Wyoming Republican and chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said it was necessary to suspend committee rules and vote on Mr. Pruitt’s nomination because of Democratic obstruction. Democrats boycotted Thursday’s hearing, a day after also boycotting a Wednesday forum where Mr. Pruitt could have been approved.
“Elections have consequences and a new president is entitled to put people in place who will advance his agenda,” Mr. Barrasso said. “The leadership of the minority chose to do a blanket boycott … The minority wants political theater. The nation needs a new EPA administrator.”

Democrats argue Mr. Pruitt did not adequately respond to their questions about climate change and other key environmental issues, though Republicans countered that the attorney general spent more time before the committee and submitted more written answers than any recent EPA administrator.

They didn't learn from yesterday. I bet this happens again tomorrow.

More partisan stupidity from both sides. First of all, Democratic legislators need to get their butts back to work and do their job. Republicans have majority of House and Senate and they have the Presidency. Do Democrats really think they are going to get people running agencies that they are going to like? Of course not. It's the way life is. Grow the hell up and focus your efforts on things which are important. Protest those who aren't qualified for their position and stop playing games simply because you don't like the political lean of the nominee.

However, on the other side, how utterly hypocritical can any Republican be when they say things like "a new president is entitled to put people in place who will advance his agenda" when the Republicans were CONSTANTLY doing the exact same thing during Obama's tenure. Hell, Merrick Garland STILL hasn't received a Supreme Court hearing. Makes Republicans a bunch of hypocritical jackasses.

The fact that people on both sides will throw their stupid partisan stupidity at this story and explain why their side is/was right and the other side is/was wrong is ridiculous. Republicans are hypocritical jackasses, and after years of condemning Republicans of doing the same thing Democrats are now doing, the Democrats are hypocritical jackasses.

It sure would be nice if there was at least one group of people who could act like civil and rational adults, but as long as voters continue to buy into the useless partisan nonsense, things will never get better.

You'd have my vote for president :)

Welp, that's the end of that, and of course the elimination of the filibuster for the SCOTUS appointments will be following shortly. Brave new world, everybody: every Senate minority from here on out is powerless.

Thank you Democrats!

It would be so very cool if Pruitt gets sworn in and decides it's time to blow the whistle on the corruption known as the IPCC.
If you think Trump is stirring the pot now just wait.

I think one of the things he will look at first is the water control and water rights issue.

And some snowflakes think the Democrats can block Gorsuch. LOL!!

They have been wrongly claiming that it takes 60 votes to confirm Gorsuch. If they don't get their information straight they are going to be in for a big surprise.

The Democrats should learn not to count their chickens before they hatch.

Greetings, NonoBadDog. :2wave:

It's interesting that they don't appear to understand that Obama is no longer the POTUS, since the questions that they asked were NOT the areas the Trump administration has indicated they are particularly interested in at the moment - climate change, EPA regulations, etc. Trump seems to be more interested in jobs and infrastructure repair and/or upgrade as necessary, since he understands that most people don't want to be on a bridge that collapses because rust has eaten through the steel girders!

True. Trump is primarily interested in the country becoming productive again. It won't be very long at all now until we hear that Trump and the GOP are poisoning our air and water. It's standard procedure. Naturally, everybody on the political right wants to see their loved ones die from polluted air and water. I just can't imagine how stupid a person would have to be to believe that line, but I can just about guarantee we'll see it shortly. Pelosi would say that. She knows her base.

I think he is using a different approach, like you say. More of a business approach and it is driving DC nuts. He doesn't keep DC hours. He doesn't use the normal lanes of news communications and that drives the press nuts.

Well, he does have a history of confrontation with the EPA so I expect that's on his plate.

As for the IPCC, unfortunately since they've already begun AR6 activity, I expect the Government appointed scientists may already be in place.
But I hope there's an opportunity to get some balance on that thing.
There's so much going on there that needs to be more widely known.

"Make American sick again" ... a classic.
Did you see the clips of sweet Nancy telling the crowd to sing a song again because she was having sound problems, and prompting a Congressman at a hot mic to "tell 'em you're a muslim ... tell 'em you're a muslim".

I did. Pelosi missed her calling. She should've pursued a career with one of those aggressive pyramid schemes, like AmWay. "Tell 'em how much you love the moisturizer. Tell 'em about the wart remover! It's your big shot. Don't waste it talking about the B12. Tell 'em about that wart remover!"

I wouldn't be surprised if Nancy staffs, runs, and IS the National Sleep Foundation that declared that the My Pillow was their official pillow.

Yeah, doesn't he though? :lamo

It's fairly obvious that Trump doesn't believe in climate change, but he does appreciate that air pollution is a modern reality right? Right?
