More irony, please.
You should really understand a word before attempting to use it.

Well I'm in trouble. We don't practice any religion here, including Christianity. My husband is a recovering Catholic and I wasn't raised anything. We respect it, but don't practice or live by it. I guess I'm not American.
No surprise there...Christians are amongst the stupidest people I have ever known.
Your average Christian in America is none too bright, none too rich and none too powerful (with exceptions).
You have to be pretty brainless, imo, to believe in such jiberish as the God club nonsense...that goes for all major religions.
And the Bible is full of ****...it is okay (according to the Bible) to own slaves and beat them to death - so long as they don't die for a few days.
The Bible is brainless twaddle...leap of faith garbage.
If I didn't know better I'd swear you were my husband. That's exactly what he says.
My dad explained it all to me when I was in grade school. In his day, if someone had 3 daughters, they sent the smart one to college, the pretty one got married, and the stupid ugly one got sent to the nunnery...
Whether a Fallen Christian or a Never Was you are still affected by the Judeo-Christian culture and values that America was founded on
most immigrants during the first 200 years were Christians or Jews and belief in God influenced this countries development
Now the country is changing and we have more muslims, hindu's and Never Was's
As long as they remain tolerant of the Christian tradition which is to say remain loyal to America I think we can make it work
They should have beat you a little more and knocked some sense into you! :doh
Funny, all I remember my Dad saying is...'son, I am leaving your mother - can you spot me $50 bucks? I'll pay you after the Daily Double tomorrow...promise?'
You are getting worked about the wrong religion. In my opinion a true Christian is a beautiful thing, and it is not easy. I couldn't do it on my best day.

I am not worked up as much as too busy rolling my eyes...anyone that believes in some dumbass God that bans you to eternal damnation simply if you don't take him as your personal savior but Hitler on his deathbed can get into Heaven just by asking for forgiveness of his sins...anyone that believes that nonsense is probably so dense/gullible that they would make a used car salesman salivate.
So you think those brainless idiots that stand up on Sunday tv shows and let these rip off artists cure their ails are beautiful? You think some ding dong that blindly takes some God as their whatever even though there is zero proof that he ever existed is beautiful?
Each to their own.
Ignorance is bliss after all. And many Christians are full of that alright.
I have read that New England is the least religious region of America. Why not drop the New and become part of England again?
Regards to your husband from another recovering Catholic. One day at a time, as they say in AA.
Denial ain't just a river in Egypt. Please try to stick with the topic of this thread. This thread has NOTHING to do with immigration. The Pew research finds that approximately one third of Americans believe a person can't be American if they aren't Christian - not talking about immigrants, wetbacks, towel heads, etc etc. Just talking about Americans and how their religious views affect their relationship with other Americans. The survey also compares American views on religion and its relationship to how a populace views their fellow citizens with those of other nations.
Forget Obama, forget immigration - this is about religion. Is a person born in the United States but who is not a Christian seen by you as an American? Is a pagan believer an American? Is an Orthodox Jew and American? Is a Sikh an American? how about Buddhists, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Wiccans?
I don't mind the Muslims, Hindus, Never Was people, Buddhists, Quiverfulls, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Scientologists, Wiccas and so on. Everyone should have the right to practice their religion.
This country was also founded on the cultural belief that blacks weren't full and free people, Indians were pagans and it was God's will that they succumbed to English diseases, and women didn't deserve the right to vote or own property. Luckily we've evolved.
And it was Christians who led the fight against those ideas
The Puritans were Christians. They're the ones who believed that Indians died because God wanted the English immigrants to have their land because they were heathens. And they also believed women to be second class citizens not worthy of a vote or the right to own property. They also owned slaves, both blacks from the Islands (including Barbados) and Indian women and children, after they massacred their men. So no, they didn't fight it.
Because they have little religion in England? The Church of England would probably disagree with that.
Almost all of our friends go to church here. Most to Congregational and Presbyterian churches. I haven't seen evidence that it's not very religious up here.

Ok
But later Christians guided by God's hand thought differently
