PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) - A four-month old girl with a heart condition was supposed to fly in for an appointment for surgery at OHSU next week, but she and her family were not able to finish their trip because of President Trump's executive order on immigration.

Four-month-old Fatemah and her family do not have permission to come into the United States even though they filled out the paperwork for tourist visas for the surgery, and even though her grandparents and uncle are American citizens.

Can't have that baby coming to America, no matter what the reason. She could be a terrorist.

This, folks, is exactly what insanity looks like.

Meh, you're just miffed that the Trump Administration's insistence that the ban is necessary to keep the jihadi boogeyman at bay has been exposed as a lie and all he's protecting us from are dying babies and old women.

We've been seeing it for some time, it's what all this war on terror and muslim boogieman stuff was based on in the first place.

I laugh at any partisan who mentions a "high road". Partisans don't know what the high road looks like even if you give them pictures and a map.

I find it funny for partisans to try to call other people out for being partisan is all.

See now that Trump is in, all of a sudden arguments are flipping sides.

Please explain how my post was partisan

No, this is what imperfection looks like. ONE phone call to the WH and I'll bet that this case would not only be approved, but expedited. You want a perfect implementation, but it's not going to happen. There will be corrections along the way as situations like this occur and get handled. That's how things work in the real world....

When your country is a TERROR supporting nation, it has a few draw backs for its people and now this is one of them! TOUGH

If Iran was like lets say Denmark or any other non supporting terror nation the kid could come here no problem

The father has no one to blame but his homeland and its leaders

Re: Family of 4-month-old set to have surgery at OHSU impacted by Trump's executive o

Maybe this child when it grows up will begin the global reformation of Islam, until then, sorry you were born in a nation that has active terrorists activity.

Sucks but it is for our protection, even if it inconveniences you and your parents. We kill 300,00 babies a year here for the sport of it, this will not affect the bleeding heart liberals one iota. Sure they will use it for propaganda, but in reality they can't possibly care about this deep down inside when they support killing babies here right up until they come out of the womb.

Sorry, not buying it.

I'm getting all misty eyed from the overwhelming compassionate conservatism displayed in this thread.

Re: Family of 4-month-old set to have surgery at OHSU impacted by Trump's executive o

And it's all thanks to God Emperor Trump for making us 0% safer!

Seems a little early and out of your realm of knowledge to say that this doesn't make us any safer.

Re: Family of 4-month-old set to have surgery at OHSU impacted by Trump's executive o

That's actually a pretty sad story. I would be beside myself if I were her parents.

Yes, seems a bedrock of western democracies helping in situations like this one were caught up in new policies.

Don't all those other countries have better healthcare that the U.S. anyway?

True ...why cant they take her to England or Cuba

Canada? France? Indonesia? France and England are closer, anyway.

I wonder if it's because 1) the healthcare in those countries is substandard to ours, or 2) those countries are less willing to allow Fatemah and her family into the country.

Riyadh’s cardiology center among world’s best

The number of cardiac transplant operations carried out by the Cardiology Center at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) has reached 207 so far, thus placing the center among the top global heart transplant centers, local media said quoting data released by the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT).

The HTP raised the success rate of its operations to 89 percent which outperformed the average success rates of 250 cardiology centers in 45 countries including those located in reputed American and European centers which are members of the ISHLT, he noted.

Re: Family of 4-month-old set to have surgery at OHSU impacted by Trump's executive o

Wait, wait... hold on a second, Reading the story, Ok sad yups, but I have a bunch of questions

1) Is the 4 month old a legal US citizen i didnt catch that in the story.
2) Is the Parents Citizen, The Grandparents and the Uncle are, But are the DIRECT parents citizens?
3) They Filled out the forms, but it was not Approved yet? (vetted)..... Plenty of application Visa get turned away...

So the parents of unknown citizenship at this time, the child of unknown citizenship at this time, fearful of the care they daughter might received in another country. Wants to received the best medical care they can, wants to come to America to do so, So filing for appropriate Visa's etc etc and thats great, When its time, the rules unfortunately changed and they are unable to get the care they wanted?

1) If they are truly Citizens, it doesnt Ban American Citizen travel, if I am not mistaken.
2) As generic as I am going to say this, I made an appointment to a doctor, they said they would take me before hand, then a couple days prior too , they call me back and say sorry we cant help you, while that sucks, it is within their very right to do so and I must suck it and make other arrangements. If I had signed a binding contract then it is what it is, and they are responsible, but they were in the process of visa's etc. Not completed and on the door step and turned away.
3) The child is not being limited of care, they just want to be treated in the USA. But they can still take the child to their country of origin, with that, I am sure they will be able to appeal I dont think the story is completely over.
4) Hate to say it, but if it was a 4month old legal Citizen, and a 4month old non legal citizen wanting to take advantage of our health care system, whos in line first?

No. This is what government solutions look like. By definition heavy handed, one-size-fits-not-quite-anyone, and riddled with unanticipated negative consequences. This is what government does.

Did you even read the article before your brain spun out this post? She isn't a citizen. Her parents aren't citizens. Her uncle and grandparents are citizens. It's laid out right in the link.
