PC police set their sights on ‘expectant mothers’ | New York Post

Doctors have been warned not to call pregnant women “expectant mothers” to avoid offending transgender patients.

They are told to call them “pregnant people” instead.

In a 14-page booklet called “A Guide To Effective Communication: Inclusive Language In The Workplace,” the BMA says: “A large majority of people that have been pregnant or have given birth identify as women.”

“However, there are some intersex men and trans men who may get pregnant.”

“We can include intersex men and trans men who may get pregnant by saying ‘pregnant people’ instead of ‘expectant mothers.’”

OK, liberals, just stop it already. If you expect us to recognize you as legitimate members of the human species, this comical nonsense has to cease immediately.

Nope. Pass.

By the way, I find your position hilariously contradictory. On one hand, you assert that words have meaning (doctors should not abandon the phrase "expecting mother"), by suggesting that those changes are trivial (referring to the change as "comical").

Which is it? Either the change is trivial (in which case, you can make fun of it, but should not have an issue with it) or it is not trivial (in which case, you should not treat it as trivial, even if you disagree with it).

Similarly, I find it hilarious that you are offended by proposing that doctors change their wording, because of... doctors trying to avoid offense by changing their wording.

Maybe you should stop being such a Special Snowflake, Erod.

The British Medical Association (BMA) advice comes weeks after The Sun revealed Britain’s first pregnant man.

When the American Medical Association starts proposing this type of thing I'll voice my concern. The British can do as they please.
