[FONT=&quot]Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr., one of the nation's most prominent evangelical Christian leaders, has been asked to head a White House task force on reforming the U.S. higher education system, the Virginia college told NBC News on Tuesday night.

[/FONT][FONT=&quot]Len Stevens, the university's chief spokesman, told NBC News that Falwell would bring a focus on "overregulation and micromanagement of higher education" to the task force.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Falwell wasn't immediately available for comment Tuesday evening. In the past, he has argued that the federal government imposes too many regulations governing accreditation and financing of U.S. colleges and universities.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Falwell is a lawyer and the son of the private evangelical college's founder, the Rev. Jerry Falwell, co-founder of the Moral Majority and an architect of the conservative Christian political movement that helped propel Ronald Reagan to the presidency in 1980.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]He has said he was offered the position of education secretary in the Trump administration late last year but declined because he wanted to stay close to his family in Lynchburg, Virginia, where the university is based. He enthusiastically endorsed Trump's eventual nominee, Betsy DeVos.

Great! We have Sec. Bazillionaire DeVos, who in terms of education doesn't know her hole from an ass in the ground, who will "lead" America to educational greatness through publicly funded charter schools that will exercise religious freedom (at taxpayer expense) where the religious educational component most assuredly won't be about Islam or Judaism or Buddhism or the like.

Just to help that along we have Falwell, Jr. who is yet another bone thrown to Trump's religionists. Falwell is a great addition because, you know, Jesus and stuff like that. Education?

Conservatives really don't even care if Trump is a good prez or not. All they care about is pissing off the opposition. Their WHOLE agenda now is just hate. They're agenda is hate.

Trump can ruin the country, but they won't care as long as he's still pissing off the opposition.

This SCOTUS pick does not change the balance of the court though. It just takes it back to what it was when Scalia was alive. They need to save their political capital to fight a possible replacement for Breyers or Ginsburg.

This is stupid having a president of a private university head up a task force looking at higher education. These things should be restricted to fine public institutions like Harvard or Yale.

BTW, what do tasks forces do?

I might have disagreed with you a few months ago. But judging by the reaction since the inauguration of cons (like on here)...I am afraid you might be right.
Much of the right just seems to be spewing forth hate and bile.

Hopefully they are just getting the frustration of being powerless for so long out of their systems.


Once again, I despise both parties.

Yeah, they pretty much have forfeited any pretense of moral high-ground anytime in the future with this election. Which is the only ground the pretend to walk on.
 
Since when is education a delegated power anyway?
The federal government has no business "reforming" higher (or any) education.

The purpose of a government task force is to justify a predetermined goal.
