Trump Strategist Steve Bannon Says Media Should ‘Keep Its Mouth Shut’

I say to the press, "We get it. Stop already."

Look, Donald Trump has been talking trash and spouting off alt-lies since day one. At first, it was engaging. Now it's just boring.

They say if dog bites man, it's not news. But, if man bites dog, it's news.

Trump lies. Get over it. When has ever not talked stupid ****?

Sometimes, I think he says this **** to keep media on a leash, chasing their tails, while the real issues of the day are cloaked in indifference.

Kind of like the Wizard behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz.

Get over it media. Trump will be Trump. We get it. The media is beating a dead horse.

Get on with discussing the real issues and expect more lies. You don't have to report them. We already expect them. Forget all this wah-wah-wah **** and move on.

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

Bannon gave an off the cuff remark, telling them to STFU - and now the media are getting their knickers in a huge twist about it.

They're all taking out life insurance policies as we speak - the poor dears.
Bunch of coddled self-pitying self-promoters.

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

trump and his henchmen really are fascist deep down and dirty and only the MEDIA will contain them.

Otherwise, we're ****ed .

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Get it through your thick skull, Bannon. The First Amendment ain't going NOWHERE.
It's not just the First A..
The PURPOSE of media Is to - Broadcast - to the public through print or electronically.

Bannon is single-handedly writing legislation? Since when does Bannon consist of the entirety of Congress? Somehow Bannon is preventing the MSM from engaging in the fan-fiction that they call the news?

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

I think it is great! It's about time someone came along and told the press to pack sand.

This admin is not made up of *****'s like Bush 41 & 43.

Screw the press, they are going to write what ever BS they want anyways no matter how congenial the white house staff is.

you feel that way about fox news and breitbart?

Bannon is like H. R. Haldeman on super steroids

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

Bannon is a third rate thug with a fourth rate mind. Read Shirer's epic THE RISE AND FALL OF THE THRID REICH and you will see a whole clown car filled with types like that .

Lol.....Godwinning, once the go to for your generic internet troll is now considered a intelligent rebuttal by the Left.

The " unhinging " continues...love it

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

They seem to be picking a fight dont they......

D's should be concerned about walking into an ambush as they try to respond.

Democrats launch scorched-earth strategy against Trump - POLITICO

I have been saying all along that Trump is the "Go big or go home" guy, and that has not changed. With as wrecked as the D party is the hope that they can go to full war with the Rebellion and win seems fairly remote.

There is no rebellion to win.

The name of the game ( I registered the name) is Make the fascist cry. I should have the home board version and first gen video games out by April.

The media could not contain the last president from spying on citizens. It couldn't stop him from bombing hospitals. They wouldn't correct the false narrative of hands up. They even helped reinforce the outright lies told about keeping healthcare.

We survived the way the media distorted reality and lied the last 8 years we can survive the next 4.

You might go take the temp of some globalists on that theory of yours....

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

he always looks like he needs a bath. Vile looking creature. But even worse is his personality and past acts. Whoever thought it was a good idea to bring him into the trump wh and give him so much power should be fired.

lol wut?

Re: Trump Strategist Steve Bannon Says Media Should ‘Keep Its Mouth Shut’

Man, are you blind. There has been a uuuuuuge mistrust of the media before Trump even announced he was running for president.

Most certainly true.

The behavior of the press this last election, the 1/2 truths, the cheating and leaking questions, the collusion with a political campaign were all so blatantly obvious and then truthfully and accurately documented, so much so that all those documents still stand unrepudiated, that it's beyond the pale; the media lost nearly all the trust of the electorate, with the exception of the Kool Aid drinkers, who are still parroting the talking points from the media, even in spite of all that came before. Unbelievable.

The media and the political left (but I repeat myself) are still in denial about it all. I expect the there to be major shake ups and continue major meltdowns in the media and the political left for next 4-8 years. It may take them that long to come to realize how far they've fallen, and how much power they used to wield but no longer do. Frankly, I see this as a positive thing for the nation, the biased left stream media and the political elite and leftists losing all that power.

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

I would consider warming up some to Trump if he would rid himself of Bannon. That man makes my skin crawl.

How does one warm up to a crocodile in heat?

Re: Steve Bannon: "Media should keep its mouth shut".

The media should really get their facts straight and, every time they refer to Bannon, call him "wife beater Steve Bannon."

Steve Bannon beat his wife, including choking her. Then he threatened to ruin her life if she pressed charges. And nobody cares that he's a top White House advisor or that he beat his wife and threatened her. America is great again!

I agree with almost all of this. Watch for something to happen next Wednesday. Trump is going to announce who he wants to nominate for justice on Thursday. I bet he pisses on the press somehow on Wednesday to get their attention going in another direction.

Like their campaign to elect Hillary? The press got caught. The press has no validity. They flushed it. When they earn back the trust of the public then they will have some power. Until then they are the ones that are ****ed.

Hopefully Tump will ban the MSM. Can't wait for all the liberal snowflakes to complain when he sends his men in to close CNN's offices.

If the press flat out lie - Trump can sue them (he has done it - what - hundreds of times before? Dozens at least). But telling the press to shut up is going to get you nowhere.

Forget the dumbass reporters. The people behind the scenes in the press are some awfully smart people. Mixed in with all the 'freedom of speech loving' think tanks and professors at top universities? And all the brainboxes who use the internet?

If Trump wants to start an all out war with the press - he will get annihilated, imo. No matter how many people he has on his staff - they will not even come close to the hundreds of thousands of people who will look for every tiny weakness, every tiny slip and exploit it fully and on all forms of media.
Trump has INCREDIBLY thin skin. You don't think if he starts a war with the press that the latter will not try every, tiny little thing they can think of to get under his skin? They know his weaknesses - and they will go nuts with it.

You simply cannot attack the press like that if you want a second term OR you want to get your agenda filled in the first term...not in 2017.

Bannon is a ding dong - so few will take him seriously. But if Trump's staff starts echoing this childish cowardice - kiss a second term for Trump adios. Trump lost the popular vote by millions and that was going against a candidate that almost everyone hated and the conservative press were helping him.
But if he goes to war against the ENTIRE PRESS...he is toast in 2020. Guaranteed. And if it gets bad enough, Congress will desert him and he will be quacking after just a few months - maybe a year at the outside.

So far in Trump's first week, he has done almost all the wrong things when it comes to the press. He does not need to coddle them. But to try and bully them? That might have worked during Nixon's time when all there was was a few tv channels, newspapers (that idiots rarely read) and some radio. But today? Forget it. The media is EVERYWHERE.

And if the Trump administration embrace this attitude - they WILL regret it.

And yes, it IS cowardice. Someone of strength can handle whatever is thrown at him/her. A coward tells people to stop it. Why? because he cannot handle it. Bannon is a coward for what he said.
If he had said - 'I have NO RESPECT for most of the press and we will hold those that lie to the utmost account on every, single thing they say'. Fine. But no - he basically just told EVERY, SINGLE person in the Press - be they lib or die hard Rep - to shut up.
Stupid and cowardly thing to say in my opinion.

I won't argue your point, but It's not just about Trump as far as I am concerned.

If Trump wants to act like an ass with some of his idiotic comments, then he should be be exposed, and I'm not going to defend his babble.

The media however, thrives on their "gotcha" moments and other petty issues to stir up what ever side they are on. I don't care if it is Fox news, Breitbart, or MSNBC.... it's trash journalism. I expect more from the institution that probably benefits the most from the 1st amendment. There has always been some element of trash journalism, but not on the scale of the last 25 years or so.

It's a pretty sad situation.

I agree with you there...VERY sad.

I just think Trump would make things easier on himself if he just smiled and nodded with the press and did not take them so personally.

Just answer a question and move on to the next one...no emotion, no reaction.

He better grow a thicker skin quick if he wants a second term - or avoid a heart attack, imo.

I tell you - I would not mind being POTUS. But I would not want my entire life and everything I have ever said ripped to pieces by the press to try and attain it. And I think that is one of the reasons why truly great Americans shy away from running (and NO - I am not for one second calling myself a 'truly great' American..about a million miles from it).
