Shared information could be leaked to Russia and onward to Iran, American officials implied to Israelis in closed meeting, saying Kremlin has 'leverages of pressure' over Trump, Ronen Bergman reports.

Israeli intelligence officials are concerned that the exposure of classified information to their American counterparts under a Trump administration could lead to their being leaked to Russia and onward to Iran, investigative journalist Ronen Bergman reported by Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot on Thursday.


The intelligence concerns, which have been discussed in closed forums recently, are based on suspicions of unreported ties between President-elect Donald Trump, or his associates, and the government of Vladimir Putin in Moscow.


As Russian intelligence is associated with intelligence officials in Tehran, highly classified information, such as Israel's clandestine methods of operation and intelligence sources, could potentially reach Iran. Such information has been shared with the United States in the past.

When you take into account the intelligence Israel provides for us and what it will mean for our Middle East efforts if it dries up, this could drastically affect how we're able to track and deal with hostile countries in the region. So far, it seems the only people left on earth who don't believe Trump is in Putin's back pocket are Trump's supporters themselves.

Republicans have to be aware of how disastrous Trump will be for our foreign relations. If they have a shred of concern for this country, they will start impeachment hearings on January 21st.

That's a possibility. I'd like to believe that our people in intelligence are these stoic professionals who'll do their jobs in spite of a hostile CIC, but I think we all knew deep down (or maybe not deep down at all, whatever) that directing such abject hostility at the intelligence community as Trump has done could result in something like this happening.

I think leaks will make Deep Throat look like a piker. I include all Govt Depts. in this.

The worst case scenario I saw in the intelligence community is that as Trump put his own people in charge, career intelligence professionals would find other means (leaks) to getting important information out there as inconvenient info was muzzled. The reality may already be panning out, and it actually seems to be a lot worse than my worst case scenario.

In fact, I imagine Wikileaks may be turned around and used against Trump in the coming year, and that the political partisan bickering (and schadenfreude) on this site will be epic.

Crats, senior and down have their own way of impeding, slowing and derailing policies. I am of the opinion that leaks will become the order of the day.
The way Trump attacked & belittled the Intelligence community, beggars the mind.

I genuinely don't think he even grasps the concept of working with people. I think he's permanently on the setting that if he doesn't like it, he can fire it.

He best learn quickly. Myself I will be watching the first few months as they are critical as to how the US will engage or withdraw from the world.
