Donald Trump is ready to take an ax to government spending.Staffers for the Trump transition team have been meeting with career staff at the White House ahead of Friday’s presidential inauguration to outline their plans for shrinking the federal bureaucracy, The Hill has learned.
The changes they propose are dramatic. The departments of Commerce and Energy would see major reductions in funding, with programs under their jurisdiction either being eliminated or transferred to other agencies. The departments of Transportation, Justice and State would see significant cuts and program eliminations.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting would be privatized, while the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities would be eliminated entirely.
Overall, the blueprint being used by Trump’s team would reduce federal spending by $10.5 trillion over 10 years.

Great freaking news

We have a bloated government....

Nothing wrong with shearing the sheep as they say

Every department...I don't care if he starts with 3-5 % cuts....it is music to my ears

If Trump can get congress critters to do that then he just may get them to spend more wisely in other areas. The problem, as I see it, is that Trump wishes to cut federal tax revenue by more than that and to add more federal spending in other areas.

My hope is that Trump can redirect the savings into LOCAL infrastructure development. Renewable energy projects are my favorite, but I don't think they are a priority on Trump's agenda. "Hope springs eternal." Those projected savings amount to a Trillion dollars a year, and that is real impact. I hope it's not a fool's dream.

I wonder how many widows and orphans will be dying in the streets according to Democrats.

They run stories of homeless people dying if the GOP makes even a whisper of cutting proposed increases to a program, I'm expecting a slew of summer blockbusters of starving people, week long exposes on CNN of the new reality of dead Americans and MSNBC to spend a month following funerals of dead people from "lack of government"

Dramatic cuts, eh? ;)

Dramatic cuts? Really? If Trump hasn't been circumcised - he soon will be. I'd say somewhere within his first 100 days. They say that's a very painful experience for a 12 year old living inside a 70 old body.

They use that line for refugees too ! I see more and more couch potatoes forced to work for once in their live .

The answer is more than currently are dying in the streets if their support is pulled out from under them.

Such illogical thinking. Just arbitrarily demand all departments cut. No matter what they do or job they perform or what the demand is for their services... just cut them because numbers are pretty.

Roll up the BLM and Forest Service into one org.
Get rid of the Dept. of Education (that should be the State's job).
Consolidate the military into one branch.
Get rid of the Dept. of Energy.
Stop stockpiling oil for use as a tool to manipulate oil prices (having a reserve in place is fine, as long as it's only used to bust oil embargoes or handle shortages that put out nat'l security at risk).

That is not how it is going to go, as the article stated, the cuts will implemented by Congress and they are going after their favorites, the arts, renewable energy, the EPA along with several other departments. Then they will be going after Medicare and SS, that will be the time everyone realizes they just got screwed. The real outrage will really set in when after having their benefits cut that while Congress and trump are telling us that they have to save money by cutting programs they do not like they will be increasing spending in other areas, WTF! Oh and it gets better, along with all that there will be tax cuts for the rich and for businesses so due to the actual increase in spending and debt the tax burden will passed on to the same people that elected them, the middle-class. Notice I have not even mentioned ACA, that is another major hurdle that best be crossed with care. Does not sound like things are going to be all that rosy, but hey we can hope it all works out, but then again if it doesn't they Dems will be happy to take their place over the next two elections and they continue their brand of nonsense. We shall see how it works out but I have a feeling some of the actions they talking about are going to make things a whole lot worse for a whole lot of Americans.

They are going to halt a macro economy at the top and then they will wonder why the economy tanks while pointing fingers later.

Can I have a little more gloom with my doom? The sky is falling if you haven't heard.

Did I? You sure? How do you know this and what are tomorrow's lottery numbers?

Wrong and hysterical...

My bad. You riding in on white horse to trumps defense kind of threw me.

If they can cause the coming crash quickly enough, then they can blame it on Obama.

Fool's dream? I see Trump's presidency way less productive than you do, Dave. I mean Trump actually doing good deeds for the nation while simultaneously draining the swamp - is going to be a monumental task. To begin doing anything, Trump will first have to break his addiction to Twitter.

How I see it is:

Trump will have to figure out the White House maze..."leaving his bedroom to search for the Oval Office", and if by some happenstance he finds it, he'll discover that being president requires him to work for all of the citizens in the US, not just those who continue to work for him at Trump Incorporated. I think protecting his so-called billions is still way more important to him, and so much so that his attention won't be focused on doing his new job (working for someone else like 310 million citizens in the US), but rather maintaining the Trump Brand (which is working for himself). In other words, being prez of the US will be his part-time job.

I wonder how many staff and appointees who show up to the Oval to break the news to Trump that he's actually the President of the United States, and remind his that he made some serious promises to win the presidency that he needs to keep, which requires him to do the people's business, will hear, "Your Fired!"?

From the noticeable sarcasm that you see in my post, it's pretty apparent that I just don't have very much faith in Trump, but we'll see how it all begins to unfold starting tomorrow. I do really hope that you're right and that I'm wrong. It's in everybody's best interest that Trump will do his job as you envision that he will.

As much as I dislike Trump, I don't want him to fail as President of the United States. And do hope that he's capable of delivering the following: He will work toward forming a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, and will solemnly respect the Constitution of the United States of America.

Don't believe I did that either, I just don't think the end is nigh.

Neither do I. You just took it to extremes to exaggerate what I said then played the victim.

Didn't your lib Chrystal ball tell you just 3 short months ago that trump would never be president?

Now here you are again making predictions as if you really know what happens next when you obviously don't.

Ah, great, another "LIB" slam. Mac, with all due respect, you don't have a clue what my political philosophy is or isn't (liberal, conservative, or a mix). But sooner or later you'll realize that your political philosophy doesn't mean anything to Trump. If you think Trump is the champion for conservatism, you have a huge surprise coming.

My predictions are as valid as yours are. If you think Trump will be the greatest thing since Barry Goldwater...good on you.

But re-read my last paragraph to brother Dave:
