Obama approval hits 60% as end of term approaches

Really? if his approval was that high, do you think Hillary would have actually lost?

They sampled more democrats than republicans, they don't say where in the country they polled the "independents". do you REALLY believe this poll?

Why not? Bill Clinton's approval ratings at the end were at least as good. Didn't stop W from winning.

Bill clinton is a sexual offender..... How many times did you vote for him again?

So you like sexual offenders when they're Republican. Okay...

Anyway, that's why I didn't vote for him.

Yet another person who is blisteringly clueless as to how scientific polling works and has no interest in finding out.

He probably thinks the poll is predicting that Obama will be President.

Considering that every poll has him sitting in the high fifties approval, it looks like you're going to have to go to Hot Air or Breitbart to be spoonfed the numbers you'd prefer to see.

I think obama could be over 50%

But all the polls under sample republicans and over sample democrats

I need the methodology, can you quote that?

Here:

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports?

Methodology - Rasmussen Reports?

There is no way obama has a 62% approval rating.

50% ish.... sure maybe.....

Well what you personally believe is irrelevant, really.

Most polls I've seen have Obama's approval rating at least 55% or higher. For the most part, it's probably around 55%-60% when averaged out.

But specifically with this pollster, I see Rasmussen as more accurate now than I did before, because they were one of the few polls that had Trump in the lead during the general election.

All of them, huh? Okay. Like I said, to Breitbart and Hot Air you go.

They sampled more Democrats than Republicans because there are more Democrats than Republicans. A lot of Republican voters self identify as Independents.

Moreover, Bill Clinton left office with the highest approval ratings of any president since FDR and yet Gore still lost.

No

I just don't let lib follow-the-crowd mentality influence my opinions

So I note the polls but don't live or die by them

This is the breaking news section, I hope this is ok, given it's #fakenews....

Your dislike for a news report does not make it fake.

So even by once again stacking the deck by using the same polling peoples they got for the other poll, they got what they were looking for.
Or, not.

Election polls did a poor job this time, because they didn't accurately represent how many people were undecided until the bitter end. Approval polls are different. They don't have a deadline, and they easily show undecided rates. E.g. about 10% of people don't have a firm opinion on Trump approval/disapproval; for Obama it's 3%.

We should also note that the polls do show Trump's approval rating increasing, though he's still disliked more than any incoming President in recent history. If they were putting their thumbs on the scale, why show any increase in his approval rating at all?

Does ANYONE really believe Obama's actual approval rating is 60%?
I use RCP, which has Obama at around 56%.

That makes a great deal of sense to me. The economy isn't improving for everyone, but it is getting better for many people. Obama current comes across as confident, competent, calm, and in control, a statesman. Trump... does not. He is, at the very least, a highly polarizing figure, who lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million, who won the electoral college with the narrowest margin in decades.

Even the ACA is jumping in approval ratings, and is more popular than ever. This is also reflected in the massive numbers of sign-ups at the end of 2016, as in after the election.

So yes, this makes a great deal of sense.

"METHODOLOGYA total of 1,000 adults were interviewed by telephone nationwide by live interviewers calling both landline and cell phones.Among the entire sample, 32% described themselves as Democrats, 24% described themselves as Republicans, and 44%described themselves as independents or members of another party. All respondents were asked questions concerning basic demographics, and the entire sample was weighted to reflectnational Census figures for gender, race, age, education, region of country, and telephone usage.Crosstabs on the following pages only include results for subgroups with enough unweighted cases to produce a samplingerror of +/- 8.5 percentage points or less. Some subgroups represent too small a share of the national population to producecrosstabs with an acceptable sampling error. Interviews were conducted among these subgroups, but results for groupswith a sampling error larger than +/-8.5 percentage points are not displayed and instead are denoted with "NA"."

After seeing the recent alternatives - Trump & Hillary? I'm surprised it's not higher!

CNN's a coupla' points higher, but it seems in the ballpark. He's been averaging 55-57 in the other polls, and nearly challenged Bill Clinton/s record high!

Leaving office is the best thing he's ever done.

Who cares? Most people are too ignorant to even answer these polls.

The fact that Bill Clinton and FDR had high approval ratings should tell everyone how ignorant people are.

Obama is the Cousin Paulie of Presidents. He's lovable as long as he has no responsibilities, terrifying when he's trying to help.

Sure. Given the contrast between his measured, intelligent and nuanced approach and Trump's series of bullying tantrums disguised as tweets... it is easy to understand why so many in our nation see beyond partisanship and approve of Obama.

I guess that is why Hillary is going to be president.

Hillary Clinton was not as likable as Obama. That's why she couldn't gather as much support as Obama received.

She is:

1. A criminal.

2. Pathological liar.

3. Felonious Bill's heavy artillary when it came to women.

4. An Alinskyite.

She had no coherent vision, and it's funny that at the end of the election, when candidates generally reinforce their message of what they would do for the country, she was going low.

She also had the entire Goebbels Inspired Media Propgandists (GIMPs) on her side... hiding stories, and trying to beat up on Trump.

Likeable is a quality some look for in a president, but I prefer competence.

Uh huh. If you were to apply the same standards to Trump that you're applying to Clinton, you would be crying for his imprisonment.

2nd time I am going to ask you for specific evidence. I'm betting I wont get it.
