Trump eyes 10 percent spending cuts and 20% Slash in Federal workers

Is Trump being impeached? I didn't hear that he was. So what does that have to do with my post?

I would have to go back and review since it was several days ago but I think you were not yet reconciled to the fact that trump is the new president

and the only way to make you happy is to remove him from office

Oh brother. What a really stupid post. I'm embarrassed for you now. You can't even debate.

That was not a debate point

You asked me a question and I gave you an answer

Exactly right

Without the private sector there would be no money to support any government employees

Without the government, we would have no money. We would have to barter everything.

Think about this, before our government issued any US dollars, was it possible for them to levy taxes denominated in US dollars? The government had to create dollars and spend or lend them into circulation before it could collect US dollars in taxes. Government spending comes first, creating an economy which can be taxes.

The government can create all the money it wants to, there is no limitation other than our tolerance for inflation, and the creation of money itself isn't inflationary, inflation is created by having a lack of production to meet demand.

No one is suggesting no government

But if it comes down to it government money could be worthless as it was in post WWI germany and people will barter for the things they need

I suppose under the right conditions, anything could be worthless.

Not everything

Food is never without value, particularly if there is none to be found in the local grocery store.

Gasoline, if the refineries are shut down

And ammo for your rioting-obama-voter adjustment tool if you happen to have one and didn't stock up beforehand

Those can all be barter items in an emergency and never without value to someone

When was the last time you bartered ammo for anything? Seriously, that's just conservative la la land stuff.

I have not bartered anything recently and pray to God I never will.

But don't assume that the government will always be able to take care of your basic needs because under the right conditions it will fail

Bartering is awesome. I do trade deals all the time, namely because I can set my own value on my stuff relative to the other party's need, and the government doesn't have to be involved at any step.

Yes but we are talking about an emergency situation when government has failed and chaos reigns throughout the land

How long is the emergency? If it's a week, I'm all set. If it's something more permanent, I'm all set. It's that intermediate term that is a problem for most, where the government only has one tool in its toolbox - force. Like in parts of Syria, for example.

I don't know how long it might be or if it ever will be

But if some crazy muslim computer hacker melted all the financial records most Americans would not have a pot to piss in for as long as it takes for the banks to recover
