Ringling Bros. Circus to Close After 146 Years[W:30]

Why do your posts rarely make any sense, often have nothing to do with my post that you quote and usually they read like cryptic manic cult messages.

I would have to assume the reason is that you dont work at my level.

That's OK.

Ok? it's more than ok, it's actually GREAT!
I'm very happy that nobody has ever told me my posts don't make sense, don't have to do with what is being discussed and seem like manic cult messages. Maybe you can raise up to the level of the rest of us soon.

In lieu of a circus I'd prefer to see Trumpanzees in a lab being analyzed by scientists trying to figure out what went wrong.

Hillary Clinton deliberately avoided Congressional Oversight by concealing her server. By avoiding Congressional Oversight, she avoided being held accountable to the people she is supposed to be serving. One could make the argument that such behavior borders on tyranny, let alone a dangerous abuse of power, yet there are people who want to give her the most powerful position in the world.

Those are the people that need their head examined.

I already made my post to the OP. Ringling was not the only circus in town. Our political system has them beat head and shoulders, that along with all other media/electronic forms of entertainment they were doomed.

There your posts go again. HAHA

It has lost its appeal. Animal acts and such are so 20th century.

Or 19th....

It is indeed the end of an era and this was the last vestige of PT Barnum and all that went with him. The kid in me feels nostalgic about this - but the adult says this is a positive development especially for the exploitation of animals. I feel bad for the talented and gifted performers many of whom are simply amazing.

To me, still kind of a shame. Loss of a piece of history. My Dad took me to see Ringling Brothers/Barnum and Bailey when I was a kid. Kind of a big deal then. ~40 years ago.
I remember going to a show back in the 70's but that's all I could remember. I must have been around 4 or 5 at that time.

Then the sounds and smells and spectacle must be there. Or are they lost?

Back then, it wasn't widely known how poorly the animals were treated and cared for. Pity the problem couldn't have been corrected, but the viability of traveling circuses has been plummeting since cable TV, internet and Xbox became children's preferred pastime.

Let me add that we are also, in some ways, smarter as a society. Even if the wild animals were treated well, we know now that it would still be cruel to subject them to a life of a travelling circus. Elephants, for instance, have a natural urge to migrate. They also are very 'family' or 'pack' oriented. Take that away from them and they are pretty miserable. This is why even zoos are cruel when it comes to elephants.

All it says is that I don't pay much attention to liberal nonsense.

It tells me that you don't notice the freakiness of obese people in American flag garb stuffing their faces with fatty foods. I wonder why that is....

People with talent who can perform entertaining acts still have potential. Circ du soleil is extremely popular.

Same here. I still fondly remember when my parents took my brother and I to Ringling Brothers at Madison Square Garden 40-45 years ago.

A few years ago my wife asked me to take her to the Big Apple Circus in New York for her birthday.
Around New Year's we were talking about that and wondering how circuses in general were doing in the modern world with all the available entertainment, instant information and the general jadedness of people. Guess I got my answer.

you appear confused. its the Hillary fan boys who had things go wrong. The MSM and the Hollweird fruitcakes promised them that the lying Bitch was going to win and lo and behold, she got her ass handed to her. The real circus is the freak show we see from all the crying hillary faithful caterwauling like some strange rabid creatures in the deepest jungles of the Amazon or the most desolate veldts in East Africa

I'd like to know how much of a role homoerotica played in the Trump election. Shirtless Putin, young Trump, Milo Boi, Peter Thiel in shades, all of these images grace the front page of Drudge on a regular basis. Hell, even Melania looks like a dude, when you think about it.

Hillary may not be a sex kitten at age 70, but at least she ain't a dude. :)

Because he's a cryptic manic of course :)

This is good news and a long time coming. It took forever for RB to accept the truth that their animal acts were cruel. They should have done away with them years ago. Many circuses without animal acts do very well. The animals in the shows will now all go to sanctuaries and good homes. There is nothing worse than making animals perform as they do, stealing baby elephants from their families, and perpetrating cruelty to break their spirits. Goodbye and good riddance.

That is a excellent observation. It seems that the Circ soleil has replaced the old style circus format - sans the animal abuse - and that is a good thing.

I do have some wonderful memories as a kid of the circus however. And two years ago I took my grandkids age 3 and 5 at the time to a small touring circus of about thirty performers that came to town under the big top tent and the looks on their faces watching a man blow a cloud of flames twenty feet into the air and feeling the heat was something that was priceless. They trotted out this old ancient elephant who should have been retired long ago and gave the kids rides for five bucks each and that was something they still talk about today.

The Circus was always a combination of magic, wonder and decadence and it will not be forgotten.
