Obamacare takes first real step closer to repeal after Senate vote

I don't think that's quite accurate.

They have something, but the exact way to replace the 2,700 page monstrosity that involves the IRS and has more tentacles than a massive tumorous cancer isn't easy... like returning a poorly prepared hamburger.

It's week 1 and they've started. That's great news.

If the Republicans can come up with a better plan I will be among the first to congratulate them. But repealing before they have a replacement is gross irresponsibility. And know who has shared that opinion in the past? Trump.

I may be wrong, but I think insurance is like a legal contract with a fixed time period.
Policies purchased while the current law was in place, would still be legal contracts if the law no longer existed.
This would only limit the damage to those whose policies expired in the time period between repeal and replacement.
I think the new legislation, should be written in such a way as there is no time between.

The same way the Democrats rammed Obamacare down the throats of all people is the same procedure the Republicans are using to repeal it.

Lots of whine being served on the left last night during the vote while there were no shortage of cheesy smiles on the right.

Dozens of different suggestions... PERFECT! The more the better.

They will sort it out, and that's fine with me. I did not expect them to repeal and replace in 24-hours.

Lay it out in detail? Like the Demokrats did?

Once again... PEREFECT!!!

Lots of ideas, potential solutions... hopefully a free market solution eliminating the government as much as possible.

So no? You don't have any idea what the plan is and they haven't actually come up with their solution yet? Exactly. If neither you nor the GOP can tell us what the plan is, you don't have one.

Gross irrepsonsibility was the Demokrat party using parliamentary tricks to foist this sack of **** on the nation.

Gross irresponsibility was foisting this dung on the nation after the state of Massachusetts of all places voted in a Republican to replace a DEAD KENNEDY. They did it precisely to stop ObamaKare.

Gross irresponsibility is claiming you would have open sessions on CSPAN, and then not even letting the public know what the **** was in that steaming heap of **** before shoving it down our throats.

The Demokrats foisted a huge failure on the nation all on their own... and it caused massive misery.

Add the press... the propagandists... who failed yet again to do their job.

"Gross irresponsibility"... where was the concern for that when ObamaKrap was spread like cow **** across the nation?

ROTFLOL... tightly wound it seems. I understand... ROTFLOL...

Plan?

Free market based.

That much I know.

I'm neither a congressman, senator, nor spokesman for the Republican party... and not a consultant in that field, so it's not my job to tell you what their multiple plans are, could be or will be.

I'll hear it as they grind it out, and will comment then.

I don't have one... yes I do.

Get the government out of healthcare, and have people pay for their own either personally or through insurance. If you don't have coverage, then go to emergency, or clinics that provide care for free.

And... let the entire nation be the market... allow folks to purchase insurance from any state.

Competition drives costs down... that's why 10,000 buck cell phones cost 1% what they did 30-years ago.

ROTFLOL... tightly wound I see... ahhh... don't worry... it'll be over in 8-years.

Yes, it is. It just looks spiteful to work so hard to repeal something they claim is broken without a solid fix. I do hope though they surprise me with an excellent plan.

What would be "excellent" to you? And realistic? We cannot afford to cover everyone, the current "plan" is destroying the system.... you aren't going to get a Single Payer system (thankfully).....

I don't dispute that. But one party doing a crappy job should not be an excuse for the other party to do a crappy job. If we are just going to keep using the excuse that the other guys sucked too then things will never improve.

Step two is the Democrat's problem. They can score big points with a workable solution, but they won't because they can't.

Republicans have been thumping their chest and bragging nonstop about how they won, get over it... and now getting legislation passed is the democrats responsibility? WTF ever.

Yeah!

Let's let the free market fix it all!

Or... Conspire to collectively raise rates, deny coverage at will and provide as little care as possible.

Oh glorious freedom!

The only way you're going to please statists is a statist solution. That means that the more the government controls the system the more they will like it.

LOL... just like ObamaKare?

If so, we ought to send you to Congress.

If you misspell C's with K's, is that actually supposed to mean something?

Yeah!

Let's let the free market fix it all!

You just described Obamacare. :lamo

I don't expect them to do a crappy job, and frankly... they can't do a worse job.

I look forward to a free market solution.

Did not occur to him. DID NOT COME CLOSE TO GRAZING HIS BRAIN MATTER.

Add... not only raise taxes... ties your healthcare directly to the IRS.

Not able to keep your MD.

Rate cuts by $2500... nope... double, triple and more... with 2017 going through the roof.

Yeah!

The irony of your attitude towards the free market in favor of a government run, bureaucracy for healthcare is breathtaking in it's depth. Do keep on marching to that failed tune.

Oh, btw:
LONDON — Britain’s National Health Service is in crisis. Every day the country’s newspapers are filled with harrowing reports of overcrowding in hospitals, operations being cancelled, doctors and nurses struggling to cope, and accident and emergency units being unable to meet targets. This week it was reported that at least 23 hospitals have declared a “black alert” after becoming so overcrowded that they can no longer guarantee the safety of patients and provide a full range of services. This follows a warning from the Royal College of Physicians that vital services are “struggling or failing to cope” and the conclusion of the Red Cross that the NHS is facing a “humanitarian crisis.”

Yeah, the vaunted British single payer NHS is at the point the RED CROSS may have to come in to save them...

Brilliant plan JB, brilliant, have anymore pearls of this wisdom for our amusement?

According to Jetboogieman, dependency on the Government is freedom, self reliance is slavery.

You do realize the free market is responsible for massive breakthroughs in virtually everything?

From hockey sticks, cell phones, automobiles, food production safety...??? The massive improvements in life?

No... you don't.

Or was it the Communists? Nope... don't think so... they stole technology, and still do.

Government cradle to grave care is freedom!!!! Didn't you hear? :p

I'm always amazed at the number of people on the Left who react to this obviously effective twist.

Seems to get your ilk a little irritated.

I thank you for your post.

Must be well over 100 responses by now.

Looking forward to the next one... and next one... and next ones...

:)

I don't have a plan and luckily it's not my job to come up with a comprehensive "excellent" plan.

I do know the costs are out of control and nobody in our country is winning when a child has a fever and their parents are afraid and don't know what to do because the last thing they need is a $500.00 bill just to take their baby to get a check up.
