Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him

Good question! Probably because it wasn't substantiated.

If that's so, then the Hillary camp had the integrity not to use unsubstantiated rumors as campaign fodder. Do you believe that to be the case?

Holy geez.

The introducer and Pence are concentrating on the Russia thing.

I'm not sure that's a good idea, but it is very Trumpian.

And Trump himself is going after the intel community ...

This is what the media wants us to believe about Trump:

LOL!! If this were a movie, it would bomb because it's totally ridiculous.

You do know that when your boy Trump pushes the BS that Cruz's dad was part of the JFK assassination, you can't bitch and moan now when someone else pushes some crap like that Trump pays to see women pee.

Re: Russian hackers claim to have compromising information on Trump - CNN

Hostile foreign powers influencing elections is something we do, not something done to us!!!

Damn straight! 'Murica!

Re: Russian hackers claim to have compromising information on Trump - CNN

So now NBC News is reporting that, according to their intelligence source, the 2-page memo reported on by CNN was NOT presented to Donald Trump or Obama as trustworthy information, but instead was an example of disinformation that Trump may face as President.

It's been fun, everyone, I'll get the lights.

I thought Pence was quite good. Very measured. The guy who did the intro right before him was wound a bit tight. Trump was good for the first 30 seconds, but then he went on to blame while pretending he wasn't blaming the Intelligence agencies. Great start.

But one thing I do know. The inauguration will be beautiful. November 8 was beautiful. The inauguration events will be beautiful. Just beautiful. Simply beautiful. (He sure loves that word)

... because the previous one was a DISASTER! ABSOLUTELY A DISASTER! :lamo

Yes, because journalism is verifying facts and reporting them, not selling political propaganda as valid news.
What nonsense. They're reporting on the existence of a memo, that journalists and legislators and intelligence agencies have known about for months, which suggests that Trump was being blackmailed by the Russian government.

CNN is not obligated to run its own covert intelligence gathering agency, in order to verify every leak that crosses its desk. And they were very clear that the memo was not verified.

And No they didn't disclose the source in the second paragraph. They tried to make it sound like the original source was MI6...
By saying that a FORMER British Intelligence agent worked on it?

CNN and Buzzfeed are going to get Gawkered

Wrong. They did nothing illegal; it is well-established law that they can publish leaks of this sort.

I have a feeling this is going to get even more interesting in the next two months. Blood on the highway. Did CNN disembowel themselves?

Putin is laughing his arse off at the chaos he and Trump are continuing to create and aggravate in the United States. To the horror of most of the world for one reason or the other.

We're more than strong enough to endure through it but it only gets worse before it gets better. Trump is working hard to harm or disable U.S. intelligence agencies. Trump meanwhile continues to speak of Putin and Russia in gentle tones.

You do know that when your boy Trump pushes the BS that Cruz's dad was part of the JFK assassination, you can't bitch and moan now when someone else pushes some crap like that Trump pays to see women pee.

Sure I can...when it's the media is supposed to have credibility. That's their stock and trade, you know. By pushing this crap, the media is no better than National Inquirer.

Leave it up to the liberal media to leave no contrived story...regardless how inaccurate or inflammatory...unreported.

What nonsense. They're reporting on the existence of a memo, that journalists and legislators and intelligence agencies have known about for months, which suggests that Trump was being blackmailed by the Russian government.

So you've been under a rock for the last 12 hours I guess? The veracity of the memo in question has been debunked, NYT and other outlets have reported that they were approached with this memo and turned it down because they could not verify any of the claims it contained, and NBC went so far as to counter CNN's story by saying that the memo in question was used as an example of DISinformation that Trump would face as President, not evidence of collusion.

CNN is not obligated to run its own covert intelligence gathering agency, in order to verify every leak that crosses its desk. And they were very clear that the memo was not verified.

HAHAHAHA!!! Again... been under a rock? The memo in question was a summary of the now discredited Buzzfeed report that was NOT collected covertly, but instead was purchased from a private company contracted to build an oppo report against Trump... which EVEN THE BUYER decided wasn't fit for release. :lamo

By saying that a FORMER British Intelligence agent worked on it?

A former British agent, now a private business man who writes oppo reports for money, was the source of most of it.

Wrong. They did nothing illegal; it is well-established law that they can publish leaks of this sort.

Defamation is a matter of civil law. What Gawker did to Hulk Hogan was not illegal either in the way you are using the term, but it cost Gawker many millions of dollars in a civil suit.

Sure I can...when it's the media is supposed to have credibility. That's their stock and trade, you know. By pushing this crap, the media is no better than National Inquirer.

So, then what does pushing that Cruz's dad was involved in the JFK assassination do to Trump's credibility?

Re: Russian hackers claim to have compromising information on Trump - CNN

WASHINGTON, Jan 10 (Reuters) - Classified documents presented last week to Donald Trump included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising information about the president-elect, CNN reported on Tuesday.

The allegations were in a two-page synopsis that was appended to a report presented by U.S. intelligence officials to Trump and President Barack Obama on Russian interference in the 2016 election, CNN said, citing multiple U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the briefings.

The allegations came, in part, from memos compiled by a former British intelligence operative, whose past work U.S. intelligence officials consider credible, CNN said.

Russian hackers claim to have compromising information on Trump - CNN

Now wut are they up to?

The story I got was that they briefed Trump on it but didn't tell him they thought it was true. They presented it as an example of the lies and misinformation that're out there.

Even if it were true, one would think that liberals would be thrilled to find that Trump is so sexually liberated.

In any case, his supporters stopped believing anything insiders and elites say about Trump. This won't matter. I guarantee that nobody to the right of Meryl Streep cares. It might come as a watershed moment for the MSM, though.

Whatever you think of Trump's credibility has nothing to do with what I think of CNN's credibility.

Why are you trying to deflect? Is this, to you, a "but Trump did it, too" kind of thing? I would have thought that tactic went out the window when you found out it never excused Obama. Anyway, it doesn't excuse the media, either.

which government officials?

remember "errouneous" and can't "confirm"

#fakenews.
Senators most likely...since they're the ones that saw the intel report

Do you understand 'analytic confidence"?

In an effort to apply more rigorous standards to National Intelligence Estimates, the National Intelligence Council includes explanations of the three levels of analytic confidence made in estimative statements.[1]

High confidence generally indicates judgments based on high-quality information, and/or the nature of the issue makes it possible to render a solid judgment. However, high confidence judgments still carry a risk of being wrong.

Moderate confidence generally means credibly sourced and plausible information, but not of sufficient quality or corroboration to warrant a higher level of confidence.[1]

Low confidence generally means questionable or implausible information was used, the information is too fragmented or poorly corroborated to make solid analytic inferences, or significant concerns or problems with sources existed.[1]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analytic_confidence

The intel agencies have "high confidence" the information in the intel report is accurate. I don't know if the two page dossier about Trump that was attached to the report was given analytical confidence...except to say that Trump isn't denying that the Russians did the hacking, anymore.

Re: Russian hackers claim to have compromising information on Trump - CNN

Trump claims Putin likes him...but what Trump doesn't get is that Putin doesn't like him for his winning personality.

That does change the entire tenor of it.

Re: Russian hackers claim to have compromising information on Trump - CNN

Just to put a little perspective on this...

It wasn't all that long ago that a bunch of hyper-partisan morons were running around all willy-nilly with claims and *supporting evidence* that Barrack Obama was a Muslim. The people making those claim were rightfully mocked and ridiculed.

What happened yesterday with this report is no different. NO DIFFERENT. So to all who bought into it... here's your sign, stupid.:2wave:

You're right. This story is a non starter.

There still are hyper-partisan morons running around all willy-nilly with claims and *supporting evidence* that Barrack Obama is a Muslim.

and, no doubt, there will continue to be people claiming that the Russians are blackmailing Trump. Maybe they will claim he is a Russian when the truth is he's just Putin's choice for US president.

Speaking of hyper-partisan.
