Fox News Settled Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Bill O'Reilly, Documents Show

Re: Fox settled sexual harassment claim against Bill O'Reilly

True to some extent.
But wouldn't you consider Bill's actual dalliances as POTUS and before, as the most significant public official, as more significant than Ailes' indiscretions as a private citizen?

Move the goalposts. :doh

Do yourself a big favour and stop watching FoxNews. Just stop already.

I notice you didn't answer the question.

What goalposts do you think were moved?
Why should I stop watching Fox News?

Why the need for a totem pole? Would you not agree that what Ailes did was terrible? This is the guy who was FoxNews from it's inception. You best believe it's significant. Six months a long time???? You're incredibly incredulous. :lamo

I have not weighed in one way or another as to what Ailes did.

You pulled in Bill's dalliances, I pointed out that the his and Ailes' aren't directly comparable, apples vs oranges, being significantly different situations, and you accuse me of moving the goal posts.

Which goal posts, or as you now call it totem pole, were moved?

Re: Fox settled sexual harassment claim against Bill O'Reilly

Being 6 months old makes it pretty old.

For entertainment value sure, but as far as evidence of character on the type of people that Fox hire's, it'll be relevant til their people stop being accused of sexual harrassment...

Re: Fox settled sexual harassment claim against Bill O'Reilly

Donald might put them both to shame if the Russian hooker bed pissing story proves to be true. Golden, I tell ya!

So far no indication that it isn't anything more than the fevered imagination of some Russian agents as revealed to Steele doing oppo research, so gossip, rumors, and innuendo without any facts.

What is a fact is that Trump has a case of 'germophobia', which would appear to make that sort of thing go against his grain.

Yet he claims that he grabs ******s. I tell ya, he's all over the place, eh?!

Well, what's wrong with three failed marriages?? I take it you think that disqualifies someone from being rational??

It doesn't disqualify somebody from being President

While I don't believe that the dossier contains facts (it's not supposed to, it's just what's rumored and that's not a secret) having germaphobia would not go against the grain of that... "sort of thing." Often, people fantasize about what they fear, just as a health nut would be infatuated with dating obese women or a white man who hates black people may seek out a black woman for a night.

Hitler, for instance, would normally make love with clothes on he was so afraid to germs. Yet he literally ate human waste. People are totally weird.

OK, so identify where I've spun anything.

And frankly, I'm starting to tire of all these dodges of yours to what should be straight simple questions.

I don't think you've even answered the question that I posed you: "Wouldn't you consider Bill's actual dalliances as POTUS and before, as the most significant public official, as more significant than Ailes' indiscretions as a private citizen?"

Where as I've been responding to your questions. Fair is fair. Your turn.

Hitler was also stoned amphetamines all the time during the day, and downers at night so we could sleep. Essentially an 8-ball addict.

No such indications with Trump, no any of these other things you are talking about.

Come back with some firmer (not even hard) evidence, and we can revisit to see what it means. Don't have a single fact in the dossier from what I've heard reported.

Re: Fox settled sexual harassment claim against Bill O'Reilly

Fox isn't one to back down from a fight. If they settled it is likely because they thought they would lose in court.

Not at all. Innocent of guilt have no bearing to most businesses. It is strictly a cost factor. The bean counter tells the people in charge what it cost to fight or settle. Not just lawyers and court cost but the odds of winning or losing and the damage the company can ensue from both. When it comes to our courts right or wrong are irrelevant. It is a matter of whether you can convince a jury to side with you.

If sweet grandma falls on your sidewalk because it was wet during a rainstorm it is better to giver her 10 grand than to go to court and have jury award her a million. Even though every sidewalk in the city gets wet when it rains the only thing that matters is she fell on yours. I have seen bigger settlements for even more goofy crap. A good lawyer and a dumb jury is a nightmare to right and wrong, innocent or guilt, and why companies settle when completely in the right.

Yeah I actually don't care, I was just pointing out that I've seen in my personal life people who have fetishes that err toward the opposite of their personality. As to factual evidence, I highly doubt you'll find any one way or the other.

Fair point. Well made. I doubt that we'll find evidence that support the claim. To prove a negative is notoriously difficult, if not impossible.

Re: Fox News Settled Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Bill O'Reilly, Documents S

The whole thing sounds weird to me. Juliet Huddy said she wasn't interested in O'Reilly, yet she went over to his house when he asked her. If a guy from work asks a girl to come over to his house, it usually means let's hook up.

So she should have quit her job instead? I'm sure the "invite" came with unsaid ramifications.

Huddy never alleged that, did she?

Re: Fox News Settled Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Bill O'Reilly, Documents S

Bill O'Reilly sounds pretty creepy if you read the whole article. Should there be any repercussions of this on Fox?

Thoughts?
Comments?

I have never watched the guy. He gives me that feeling that I get when I meet someone I wouldn't like. I wouldn't want him for a neighbor. If there is any validity to the suit Fox should fire his ass as soon as they can.

I did notice that the article and your post state that the NYT got their hands on a "draft" of a letter from her lawyers. Not a good move on her part. Some judges don't appreciate that kind of move. If true she could complicate her case.

Re: Fox News Settled Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Bill O'Reilly, Documents S

Are you that naive? She said it was at an important time in her career. What do you think that means?

Re: Fox settled sexual harassment claim against Bill O'Reilly

Which determination is made usually after coming to the conclusion, we're gonna lose.
No.
While such a determination can be made after such consideration, cost regardless of winning, is the paramount concern.
Your consideration comes after.

Well, what's wrong with three failed marriages??

I dunno. Nothing? It's better than four failed marriages? What?

I take it you think that disqualifies someone from being rational??

I suppose we could just chalk it up to bad luck or poor taste in men.
