Yeah, this is a really transparent ploy to boost ratings. Reminds me of the pointless "east coast" vs "west coast" hip hop melodrama and other pointless feuds that some people took way too seriously.

Why does Trump need a press conference? Most of the MSM is happy to make up stories and misrepresent him anyway. Twitter has made the MSM irrelevant.

Twitter is for twits. The MSM still does provide basic news stories for events around the globe. I wouldn't rely on Twitter for that just yet. It just represents the next level of dumbing down. Remember when people actually wrote news reports and had to have some mastery of the English language? Then television came along and made imagery more important than words. News that we used to have to take time to digest was reduced to sound-bites with accompanying video. i wouldn't celebrate the ascendancy of Twitter. I don't need to know every passing thought of everyone, especially Trump. Please Donald, take some time to think and edit and use some nuance. Your passing thoughts are less than profound.

When was the last time the MSM did in-depth investigative reporting? If that's what you're looking for you'd better check PBS or Reuters. Al-Jazeera has more integrity. Heck, they may be Russian propaganda but RT actually does a better job reporting the news than the MSM. That's how bad it is.

When was the last time you bothered to read in-depth investigative reporting?

I did it for a living for a few decades, and the reason NO ONE does ANY in-depth work anymore is because the American audience is down to a 70 second attention span. Why bother if no one reads it or doesn't understand it.

When I have seen any in-depth reporting it's usually attacked instantly as either 'liberal talking points' or "right wing gibberish" by a thousand people who never got passed the ****ing headline and first 144 words.

But it has worked for him so far. He sets his own narrative instead of allowing the MSM to set it for him. And ultimately, he may have to communicate with all of us through Twitter or Facebook or other non-MSM means if they continue to cover him dishonestly.

And he'll probably keep everybody fuming or feigning indignation at some of his more outrageous tweets. But they sure keep everybody following what he says. :)

It can be. But it needs to be used properly. His comments today offering sympathy to those in Florida are a good use for Twitter. Boiling down complex subjects to 140 characters is not a good a use of twitter. He has a tendency to be vague and non specific. Twitter reinforces those tendencies. POTUS cannot afford to be vague and non specific.

That's not what I said. I said it's appropriate for simple ideas that can be put across in 140 characters - like offering sympathy to the people in Florida. It's not appropriate to disseminate information on complex subjects - like dismissing the intelligence reports. Complex subjects cannot be discussed in any of the detail they deserve in 140 characters.
