Mexican man Charged with Rape had 19 Deportations, Removals

If he were a citizen, he would be on the sex offender list but since he's an illegal immigrant, he gets to keep coming to the US.

You bring up an interesting point. Will he be added to the sex offender registry after he's presumably deported? He's guaranteed to sneak back into the country after he serves his sentence and is deported, so it would at least be a good idea to have his picture and name available online.

can foreign individuals be added to the sex offender list or only citizens?

I know that we don't have fences across the entire border.

I thought the point was Trump was going to build the Great Wall of Trump, and that means you win or something....

Seems like a waste of money to me given fences are easy to climb over or go under, and unless militarized (i.e. with a massive number of armed agents patrolling the entire border) the border will remain porous in the remote areas, but perhaps you know something I don't, like Mexicans don't have ropes, ladders or shovels or something.

You are misinformed

The point is to secure the border and put an end to smuggling and illegal migration from mexico

A wall/fence/barrier is only part of the plan

But it was a handy talking point that focused attention on the issue

I doubt it. Most registries I've seen will include the address for a sex offender, and if a guy like Maldonado is deported, he has no US address that he'd ever be willing to share with law enforcement.

You cannot base decisions on rhetoric, you have to actually have to research and make the case for it. You cannot go and spend billions of taxpayer dollars because Trump wants to.

Trump is not the only one who wants to build the wall

Millions of trump supporters support the wall too

But that is not a good reason to build it, just because some people want it. We have to figure if it is actually worthwhile or not.

The reasons to build it are clear

We want/need/insist on securing our southern botder.

Each year millions of innocent migrants and not-so-innocent criminals of all sorts simply walk into America at their leisure

The "wall" would be the first of several measures to stop that

And it will put a stop to illegal migration

Of course The Great Wall of Trump won't put an end to it. A huge chunk of "illegals" came here legally - it's part of being a free country that it's easy to travel here - and just stayed. And if you close off land routes, which is impossible given the huge amount of commercial traffic across the border every day, then there are air and sea routes.

We can make it harder, but the best way to keep people from coming here illegally is interior enforcement - start making hiring illegals a serious thing. The big draw since Reagan are the millions of jobs that U.S. employers happily provided to illegals because they work hard for low pay.

This topic was not about visa overstays

Its about the wall.

And as you concede the wall makes it harder for illals to reach this country

Much more difficult in fact

BTW: I am not against interior enforcement

But many civil liberty advocates are

So dont tell us to forget the wall because interior enforcement is better

and then we find all your interior enforcement ideas blocked by some obama appointed federal judge.

Like I have said before it will do nothing to stop most illegals coming into America, it just creates another obstacle for them to get around and they will. Then there is also the fact that you need to look at the facts and see if there is any actual economic benefit to doing so.

It will stop the illegals coming across the southern border with mexico

And they make up about 60% of the problem

I'm not against a "wall" in some parts of the border - around cities it makes sense. I just don't believe the Great Wall of Trump is a good idea.

And I just believe interior enforcement - cracking down on illegal employers - is a key part of the package if we really want to slow or stop illegal immigration and for many of the illegals here to go home. I suspect the reason it's not a high priority is people like Trump find out that illegals work hard for low pay, less fuss and employers like Trump have influence, and don't want a bunch of ICE agents messing around with their books or checking on their construction crews, maids, slaughter house workers, yard crews, golf course maintenance crews, dishwashers, cooks, etc.

It might stop a couple illegals but it's pretty naive to think it would last long with the cartels needing to get their drugs to the US and cause a fraction of their billions of dollars to be lost.

It would be so much more cost effective to make and enforce policies that help to get the root of the problems that cause the illegal immigration and the drug trade to flourish. But yeah, a wall.

No it won't it just means they will find another way. Then there is also the difficulty and the cost of building the damn thing in the first place, Even just getting the land for the wall alone would probably take longer than Trump will be president.

The "Great Wall of Trump" is a caricature of what trump is actually proposing

when you see the finsl product I think it will look quite different from what you imagine

If they can find a different way so can we

But the different way will not be as easy for them as simply walking across the southern border

What will it look like? I haven't seen pictures or drawings but maybe you have.

It will look like a wall in some places and no obvious barrior in other places where camera or drones watch for intruders
