A charity operated by one of Donald Trump's sons flouts philanthropic standards by financially benefiting charities connected to the Trump family and members of the charity's board, an Associated Press investigation shows.

The mission statement of the Eric Trump foundation is to raise money for worthy causes, such as childrens' cancer. But the Foundation just got caught red handed funnelling some of it's donor money to one of Donald Trump's golf courses, and there are other conflicts of interest as well. I'll give Eric Trump credit for dissolving the foundation so that there is no conflict of interest with the Trump administration. But this is yet another example of theft of donor funds for personal use.

Well, I highly suspect his shutting it down was a political decision.

Did you see the list of improprieties? It wasn't one or two, but like a dozen or fifteen! :doh

We were sick of the Clintons playing fast & loose like this, and now I think these guys are going to be worse.

If the foundation is an example of how the Trump bloodline does business, then that DC swamp just got a lot slipperier ...

It's ok. He's the Son of God.

Lol, suddenly liberals have ethics?

The Clinton Foundation was basically Tony Soprano's Ba-da-bing.

So Eric Trump uses Clinton as a model for how to do things? You must be so proud.

You know what they say about Trump supporters not caring about stuff that we are told is super important "We just like Have to FREAK out NOW!" issues?

This is one of those times.

Eric Trump shut it down because he has integrity. He's not using Clinton's model at all.

If the Trump boys are in charge of the buisness, why are they sitting in on appoinment meetings with Dad? I can forsee massive conflict of interest, will make the Clinton Foundation look legit.

Nah, not a freak-out at all.

I just don't think that swamp's going to be drained, but likely is going to get deeper and muddier.

But that's nothing new.

Interesting to hear the cynicism. We can debate how many billions he is worth, but lets just say he is very rich. He is 70 years old, very rich and you really think he is putting himself and his family through all this crap to make some more bucks, really?

Do you also think that the billionaires joining the cabinet are in this to line their own pockets. While at the same time costing themselves millions in order to work for $180K to enrich themselves and again put themselves and their families through four years of attacks by millions of folks who don't like them because they went to work for Trump.

Am I saying Trump ran for President purely for financial gain?

I can't say, but I believe he originally ran as a PR lark, then after he immediately caught fire he realized he had a shot.

But will his family and him enrich their pockets, while they're there? I'm gonna' say: "You betcha'!"

The Clinton Foundation was basically Tony Soprano's Ba-da-bing.

So there was similar proof of wrongdoing as there is for Trumps family foundations?

I'm not going to bother reading the link.

My question is this.

Was it done illegally?

Congress has written some pretty strange loopholes for their rich friends. Want to blame someone? Blame Hillary for not trying to plug these holes while she was in the senate.

I know.

I was thinking the same thing.

It's Hillary's fault. It's the liberals... It's everyone's fault but the Trumps, even though their name is on the foundation? Wow!!

The GOP!! The party of self responsibility my ASS!!

Not sure if we can ever really know, but my sense is that he has already lost many millions of dollars. First he says (who really knows) he kicked in about $50 million into the campaign. Next he lost retail outlets like Macys for his cloths line. Apartments in Trump dollar have lost value, people refuse to stay in a Trump branded hotel, etc.

I agree I don't think he expected to win. Rather he was more like Perot. An outlandish candidate who talked about the dangers of NAFTA,ironically against the first Clinton. Doing it the fragmented Republican party against a weak opponent made victory possible.

Thus here we are.

Take a good look at the following articles:

Trump Tower security may take over 2 floors — and cost millions

But in the case of Trump Tower, taxpayers would be paying the president-elect’s own corporation to lease the two floors, aside from the cost of agents, staff and equipment and barriers that are normal in such cases.

The lease deal alone could cost more than $3 million a year,
based on prevailing rates in the building.

From How Trump Can Make Money Off the Secret Service :

When Donald Trump was mulling a run for the White House back in 2000, Fortune magazine reported that he had combined his political appearances with 10 paid speeches for motivational guru Tony Robbins, so he could earn money while assessing a candidacy. “It’s very possible that I could be the first presidential candidate to run and make money on it,” Trump told the magazine. The sentiment may prove prescient.
<snip>

When it comes to political campaigns, the U.S. Secret Service pays for agent travel, be it on aircraft, trains, boats or automobile.
The campaigns of both Trump and Hillary Clinton have been paid a total of $5.45 million for flying agents around, according to the last tally available from the Federal Election Commission. Of that, $2.74 million was attributable to protecting Trump.

Unlike Clinton, Trump didn’t need to charter an airplane since he flew on his own jets. As a result, while the Secret Service chipped in for its share of what the Clinton campaign paid to charter a plane, when it came to Trump’s campaign, the federal agency effectively just paid him.
<Snip>

Once they take office, Trump, Vice President-elect Mike Pence and their wives will travel on U.S. military aircraft. What’s not clear is how their seven adult children, their spouses or any other relatives will travel if they are under federal protection. If they’re traveling with Trump or Pence, they’ll likely fly on Air Force One or Air Force Two. At other times, however, Trump’s children might fly on a private jet—potentially one Trump owns.

This time, the sucking sound of NAFTA and the following free trade deals are a reality.

It is all in the lyrics from a song written way back in 1971. Amazing.

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again, no no
Yeaaah!
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Wait what? You are saying it is Hilary's fault that congress, run by the GOP, did not try to plug the loopholes? Seriously????????

Are you purposely forgetting the facts, or ignorant to them?

After the 2006 elections, the democrats had 232 house seats to the republicans 202. The senate was split 49 to 49, but the 2 independent senators almost always voted with the democrats. In 2008, this was a whopping 57 democrat and 41 republican. the house went to 257 to 178 favoring the democrats, and a democrat president.

Why didn't she introduce any legislation, during the favorable time to do so? She was a senator from 2001 to 2009. I would have passed as easily as Obamacare did if they really wanted it.

Why didn't any democrat introduce legislation taking all these loopholes away from the rich?

Why?

Because the are rich and have rich friends!

So when some holier than thou left winger complains about what some rich republican got away with, shouldn't we remind everyone of the facts?

Obama and the democrats campaigned on making the rich pay their fair share.

Why didn't they follow through?

The OP is the fault of the left. they had the power to close those silly loopholes.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Trump and the republicans closed them?

Why are you lefties so damn hypocritical?

I'm pretty sure there are laws prohibiting the embezzlement of charitable funds. The Trumps embezzle money from a children's cancer fund and you're blaming Obama. Unbelievable.

Like I said, loopholes.

Was there any mention of a crime?

Yep, it's like the immigration issue. The GOP has had the WH and Congress many times but they never fixed the immigration problem. But ask anyone on the Right and the immigration problem is all the Dems fault!!

Same thing here. This foundation has the Trumps name on it, and if there are loopholes then the times the GOP controlled the WH and Congress they could have closed those loopholes too. But no, it's all Clintons and The DEMS fault that the TRUMPS foundation was dirty.
