Can one be open regarding his"Racist" beliefs without consequences?

If others perceive you as hating them and treating them unfairly, absolutely expect blow back .

Well, you're getting "blowback" now from Chicago cops, who aren't policing the way they once did, supposedly because of "low morale." They're standing back, waiting to respond to incidents in which violent gang members attack each other rather than attempting the proactive intervention that they did previously. The result is more dead gang members, which I suppose isn't necessarily a bad thing beyond being a waste of human potential.

We generally cant do either tolerance or humor anymore, we are so uptight. It is a very sad situation. I would not comment on what this guy said unless I got to see all of what he sent as answers to a questionnaire, I might be willing to pass it all off as humor if many of the rest of his comments were funny. I looked around a bit, I dont see anyone willing to provide me with the context.

Carl Paladino
DEVELOPER, SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER, POLITICAL ACTIVIST

1.* Obama catches mad cow disease after being caught having relations with a Herford.* He dies before his trial and is buried in a cow pasture next to Valerie Jarret, who died weeks prior, after being convicted of sedition and treason, when a Jihady cell mate mistook her for being a nice person and decapitated her.

2.* Michelle Obama.* I’d like her to return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla.

3. Someone with a brain, a set of balls and a lack of fear who has enough money so as not to owe anyone anything once elected and who believes in a market economy.

4. We need a $50 million dollar train station as much as we need parasitic people like Lou Ciminelli, 80% of the school board and the dizziness of socialistic progressive politicians who never signed the front of a paycheck.* At best 400 people a day take a train.* They are not complaining about exchange or Depew.* We are already the laughingstock of America for having the dumbest elected leaders ever.* Why add to it.

WHAT DO WE WANT FOR 2017? We have a Lot of Different Opinions -

Do you think it would've occurred if Obama was a Republican with political views similar to that of Ted Cruz?

Good question.

I understand how strong politics are nowadays, and many of the people on the right who hate him now is because they hate ALL Dems and Liberals(even though Obama is nowhere near far left). But with Obama because of his race it was easier to tag him with the 'far left' tag and 'socialist liberal' tag. So if he was a Republican it would be harder to label a Black Republican as a liberal, but I'm sure there would be a good portion of the US who would still hate him just for his race.

Carl Paladino, a Trump Support, Says Racist Remarks About President Obama and Michele Obama (First Lady)

Story:
The New York Times has a story on Carl Paladino saying racist remarks about the Obamas. Mr. Paladino comments we're in response to a survey asking what you like to see "go away in 2017?" Mr. Paladino meant to send his remarks to friends via email. Instead, he sent it to Artvoice ( a weekly newspaper based in Buffalo, New York) which published his remarks. Mr. Paladino is now backpedaling because of the reaction from his community. Mr. Paladino has apologized for his for his remarks and believes he corrected his mistake.
I believe, Mr. Paladino intentionally sent his response to Artvoice to express his frustrations about the Obamas publicly. The questions are Can one be open regarding his racist beliefs without consequences? Does racism impact society?

My Thoughts:
It's not a crime if you are racist. If Mr. Paladino chooses to be racist, he can. I learned from an early age that I have to get along with others even though I did not like that person. And that's the fact! If I choose to be racist, I can. And what's wrong with racism? It "does not matter" what others think about me. It's my self-concept of who I am which matters.

Let's go with the hypothetical. Let's say I hate black people. Let's say you hate Cubans. Let's say your next door neighbor hates Germans. How can we as a society police each other core beliefs? And what's the difference between racism and hate? What is the difference between Malcolm X and Carl Paladino?

There's not a magic pill that can solve this problem. But at least we can take responsibility for our actions. And that's all we can do.

No one said it was a crime. Where do you get that from?

Most of the hate Obama received is by simply being a Democrat. Look at the hate Hillary got this election. It was never about race or sex, it was about politics. I am not saying it was 100% politics because there are obviously going to be ignorant people that hate Obama for his race and those that hate Hillary because she is a woman.

If you want to see real hatred and intolerance, check out what a black conservative has to go through. They are truly some of the bravest men and women you will meet.

Because we are a nation of immigrants, and truly a melting pot I am surprised how intolerant we've become on race, religion, etc.

When Obama was elected in 2008 I didn't vote for him, but once he won I thought it might be good having a different face in the WH. Because we are a nation of immigrants even if he wasn't Black, if someone who's name ended in a Vowel was elected it might have been cool.

Man was I wrong. I didn't realize how racist and insecure some white males are in this country.

"Have become"? Hell, we've come a long way over the past 230 years.

Most of the, "racism", nowadays is concocted by the race baiters. They're the real problem.

I think some definitions are in order. Racism is defined as believing that one's own race is somehow superior to another race, or the other side of the coin, believing that other races are inferior to one's own.

Being racially aware, and I think we all are, is not the same as being racist.

No, it should not be a crime as others have noted, but I think racist statements should be rejected by the rest of society as best we can.

Two issues with the OP:

1. There are consequences for anything anyone says. Race doesn't change that.
2. It is not the job of anyone to "police" the beliefs of others.

Does it really make sense to you to be surprised about tolerance and in the same post call out a race of people?

This is one of the things I find funny about Progressives . They consistently fail to practice what they preach. They simply love the talking points "Love Trump's Hate" , "they go low, we go high" , but as soon as they don't get their way all hell breaks loose. I'm in agreement with Dave Rubin, we need to drop the fringe on both sides and create a new party that are more centrist.

Yes, you can be racist without consequences... generally when you surround yourself with other racists.

Beyond that you are going to upset people, not because they are political persons, but because racism is hurtful and people react to being injured.

No offense to your thread.

But will the day EVER come where Americans will shut the 'F' up about 'race'?

Given it's a huge factor in the world, no.

And we shouldn't until it no longer matters.

That's not happening any time soon.

Does it really make sense to you to be surprised about tolerance and in the same post call out a race of people?

Perfect sense.

Honestly, Obama didn't help with his emphasis on racial division throughout his two terms in office, which, incidentally, required a few votes from "Deplorables." He was supposed to be a unifying force, but ended up being quite the opposite.

Calling out bigotry and pushing for justice tends to divide people, but it needs to be done.

Most of the, "racism", nowadays is concocted by the race baiters. They're the real problem.

I wish this were true.

To cross the mind of Malcom X is to face logic, reason. The rational mind. Mental invention and innovation. I doubt that many people can get to the other side, obstructed by a myriad of philosophy. It’s is the other side that draws you. Between you and the other side of Paladino’s mind is wood. A regression of grain to the middle that then extends to where you started from. Pith, at the best.
