US investigating jail where black man died after being held for months over $5 [W:42]

Neither is "o". If you post with real words, your posts might be taken more seriously.

weather or not u take anything seriously is of no concern to us

Is this case being looked into because an inmate died while in police custody, or is it being looked into because a "black" inmate died while in police custody.

If it is because an inmate died then having the race of the inmate in the title is a cheap emotional ploy and more in line with tabloid style reporting. The issue is inmates dying no matter race.

If it is because it was a "black" inmate then the race of the inmate is appropriate for the title. But raises questions on why a Caucasian, Asian, or Latino inmate would not warrant the sane inquires.

That's my 3 cents.

Also the P town jail had a long-standing reputation of being a **** hole in the Hampton Roads area. The town itself is not a great spot to live. Lots of gangs and crime.

Please show what is "race baiting "

The OP is race baiting. Anyone who doesn't automatically agree with the OP is instantly declared a, "racist", because the subject of the article is black. That's how race baiting works.

Of course the incident must be investigated and treated as harshly as the law allows.

I'm not sure about the other. Which money do you want to use on it and what is the cost benefit in the investment?

Money is not an issue for our leftwing friends. They just print more.

This case doesn't seem to represent a broken criminal justice system as it does an overwhelmed mental health system. It seems the primary hold-up occurred at the hospital. Unfortunate and preventable, but nothing purposefully malicious so far as I can tell.

This was a person with serious mental illness; local jails aren't equipped to handle those individuals for extended periods.

so u picked the race baiting article to further ur race baiting agenda? wow

Came across this is a news feed, decided to post it. You have a problem with it, take it up with the title police for simply stating factual information.

I get we have to be politically correct in dancing around calling things racist now that the altzies are in power. But things like this are nothing new, and race does play a factor. It may be the system, or toxic individuals abusing the system. But race is a factor.

This is what happens when you slash and burn the mental health system, and use the already broken justice system to try to take up some of the slack.

As well what happens when people become for all intents and purposes human waste....unwanted, unable to function(hey dont blame me, I did not do it)

Re: US investigating jail where black man died after being held for months over $5 [W

were still waiting for u to tell us why race was a factor. the story u posted doesnt mention it.
Simple if you are on the left. Everyone according to them is a victim, unless you are white, then you are the issue. Never is it about right or wrong. It is only right or wrong as long as you have a " victim " class attached to it. Black, brown, women, gay, transgender, poor, name your favorite "victim " class....

That was Reagan, God of the Right, and Lord of Trickle down, that did that. He is also the one who broke the justice system, although slick Willie didn't help much either by doubling down on "tough on crime".... I'm not making a point just offering some fun facts to add to your point.

The mental health system was wrecked during the 60's.

On Feb. 5, 1963, 50 years ago this week, President John F. Kennedy addressed Congress on "Mental Illness and Mental Retardation." He proposed a new program under which the federal government would fund community mental-health centers, or CMHCs, to take the place of state mental hospitals. As Kennedy envisioned it, "reliance on the cold mercy of custodial isolations will be supplanted by the open warmth of community concern and capability."

President Kennedy's proposal was historic because the public care of mentally ill individuals had been exclusively a state responsibility for more than a century. The federal initiative encouraged the closing of state hospitals and aborted the development of state-funded outpatient clinics in process at that time.

Over the following 17 years, the feds funded 789 CMHCs with a total of $2.7 billion ($20.3 billion in today's dollars). During those same years, the number of patients in state mental hospitals fell by three quarters"”to 132,164 from 504,604"”and those beds were closed down.
