Donald Trump Says Rudy Giuliani Has Removed Himself From Cabinet Consideration

What Cabinet position was Sarah Palin qualified for? Unlike liberals who hire people based on friendship, Trump actually wants the best people for the job.

Rudy would have made a good AG. I'm a bit surprised he didn't get that job over the racist redneck from Alabama.

I was reading somewhere (I will try to remember where but I likely will fail, I read a lot and I tend to be more interested in ideas than I am in speakers...by A LOT) that Trump is bringing people in and asking two things....1) if you had this job what would you want to do and 2) how would you accomplish it. These politicians have a tenancy to evade, to start giving long winded soliloquies on theory, which Trump has no patience for, he cuts them off almost immediately with basically "answer my question".

This was a journalist account after talking to several people who have been put through the NYC White House interview process.

"ONLY THE EXPERTS CAN SPEAK" is not how I roll, you should know that...

And I dont tend to have much nice to say about people who do.
iLOl
I do care how anyone rolls, or if they have anything nice or not to say about anyone else.

You should know that.

Then I would argue that you values are whack, but it is your life.

He's probably waiting in the wings for when Sessions gets rejected by the Senate....but, I seriously doubt the D's have the balls to filibuster Trump's appointments.

Sessions has to get out of a 10-9 committee and Rand Paul is making noises.

Sen. Corker is clearly the most qualified adult in the GOP for SoS imho.

Politico is running a story with trump picking two DEM Senators from red states for his cabinet, Heitkamp and Manchin, both up for reelection in 2018.

It remains to be seen how many special elections trump will force before the 2018s. DEMs typically lose these. McConnell is all over this one as he aims for 60+ Senators after the 2018s .

That is likely up to Republicans and not Democrats.

President Trump’s Cabinet picks are likely to be easily confirmed. That’s because of Senate Democrats.

Senate Democrats are not going to be able to block Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions bid to become attorney general. And they can’t do much to stop Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo from assuming the helm of the CIA.

And they have only themselves to thank for it.

That’s because exactly three years ago, the Democratic Senate majority — led by Harry Reid (Nev.) — rammed through controversial rules fundamentally changing the way the Senate does business. They unleashed in November 2013 what’s called the “nuclear option” allowing senators to approve by a simple majority all presidential appointments to the executive branch and the judiciary, with a big exception for Supreme Court justices.

Look at all these judicial appointments that are open for Trump to fill...

He tends to not toss people overboard till they fail in the mission, which I respect. But was Rudy ever in? I dont know this, and I tend to doubt it, because all he ever was was a mayor, and that was a long time ago. This is not someone like NEWT who has been out of the game a long time but still offers value with his advise because he knows the game and he still knows some of the players. Rudy did well to even get considered for SS, a important position that he is not even close to being qualified for.

I am hoping for Petraeus, but his stock has gone down over the last week, I think it will be someone else.

Greetings, Hawkeye10. :2wave:

With his background, I fervently hope it will be Petraeus because I know he loves this Country, plus I can't imagine there is anyone more qualified, and people in this Country just plain trust him!

Then I would argue that you values are whack, but it is your life.
Really? iLOL
Did I really need to qualify that we were speaking about here on this forum?

And btw, as far as I am concerned, iLOL, it is yours that are wack here.

That's a nice, face-saving thing for them to allow Guliani to do.

The choice of RNC chair will show who has trump's ear more, Priebus or Bannon.

Priebus wants Romney's niece in Michigan credited for winning that state.

There's also talk of a co-chair, where rules state there must be a man and a woman .

Well, so far we have two Goldman Sachs guys in financial positions, a fast food magnet heading up Labor, someone named Mad Dog for Sec of Defense, a Jew basher with an itchy twitter finger at NSA, a racist redneck AG and a VP who believes gays can be cured through prayer. Gotta love the direction this is going.

Who has money on the Sec of State? My money is on the Exxon guy.

Figuring things out without actual knowledge and stating it as if that is the case, is still making things up to believe.
You're the Only one here who didn't acknowledge the Obvious. Giuliani was eliminated, but was allowed to 'resign' due to his loyalty. He was Trump's most vocal and absolute supporter.
He wouldn't have waited THIS long if he didn't want the Job.
The appointment is imminent, so he got a few days (if that) notice due to a semblance of decency.
Sometimes we are on the same side (if I'm on the 'Right' in a debate), but you're always Way on/off that end/pole.

Inferring the obvious... I'm not sure what your issue is.
No, you were literally making things up to believe.

He removed himself from consideration on the 29[SUP]th[/SUP], as reported.
Nothing else shows otherwise.

This is you also making things up to believe.

He resigned on his own.
You have nothing that shows differently.

, but you're always Way on/off that end/pole.
:lamo No.
Funny, but simply no.

I'm going to speculate (like everyone else) as to what I believe were the real reasons Rudy Giuliani walked away from a position in the Trump Cabinet. It was either:

a) Secretary of State or bust.

- OR -

b) He figured Trump wasn't quire ready for Prime Time as he thought.

I found Giuliani's opening statement very interesting. He said:

Things were very confusing and very difficult for the president-elect.

On that ground alone I can see ole Guili being alittle gracious and bowing out in order to make the Sec. of State selection process alittle easier for Trump. According to Newt Gingrinch, Donald Trump presumably stated on November 29, that:

This [job of being POTUS] is really a bigger job than I thought.

So, it would make sense that Giuliani bowed out feeling that he wasn't going to get the Sec of State position, feeling secure in his business ventures in the private sector but also having a little sympathy for what Donald Trump was going through sensing how difficult things were for him during the transition period and perhaps thinking, "Man...he's not quite ready to handle all of this right now".

That's my take anyway...not a slam or a slight, just speculation as to what might have really been going through ole Rudy's mind that prompted him to bow out.
