Trump wants to cancel Air Force One order from Boeing

Curbing government spending. Uh oh, the left hates that. See, Obama would look at it and say, "Hmmm... $4 billion for a few planes? Looks good to me, go ahead!"

Can't see how you can fault him for at least questioning the amount, of OUR money, going out the door.

It was Obama who said no to new helicopters.

Trump is just following nicely in his footsteps.

Where is Mr. Trump supposed to live between now and 20 January?

Was it Obama or Bush who asked if they could move in early and they said, "no?"

:2funny:

Trump saved jobs. Thats horrible!
Trump proposes cutting 4 billion in wasteful spending. Thats horrible!\
Trump wore a blue tie. Thats horrible!

Its going to be a long fricken 4 years.

If you can't start with yourself, then you have no credibility.

And you do? Does credibility hinge on attacking the next president for something as necessary as security, no matter the cost?

The planes used as Air Force One aren't just planes. They are the most advanced mobile command centers in the world. The bulk of that 4 billion dollars isn't for typical airframe costs. Maintaining modern Presidential aircraft is a matter of national security.

I'm not saying there isn't room to safely get costs down but as usual Trump seems to be spouting off based on uninformed gut feelings.

Not the point. But then you knew that.

Hahah! Of course it's the point.

"Oh sure!! You won't buy a car but last week you bought a pack of GUM!! HYPOCRITE!!"

Trump wants to cancel Air Force One order from Boeing - Dec. 6, 2016

Will you be showing similar concerns regarding the insane costs of securing Trump Tower? I'll be holding my breath.,..

Honestly, hearing Trump preach about profiteering is comical. Hollow has been redefined.

Will you be showing similar concerns about your insane choice of CNN font?
I won't be holding my breath. (you can hold whatever you want but that's more appropriately how the saying goes)

Lets see..

1) Did the GOP run Congress not need to approve the deal?
2) Does Donald not want jobs in America? The plane is made in several states, and cancelling it would cost jobs.
3) Boeing lost 1 billion in value on that tweet... guess Donald does not care about the average American who holds Boeing stocks eh?

I am guessing he wants to buy the cheap Russian made planes instead right?

Maybe he's got Boeing concerns beyond one jet.

If it were up to liberals, from what I see in here, they want him unprotected by Secret Service, with NONE of the usual things that a President has....face it, they won't say it like McConnell did, but they want him to fail.

They hate President Trump. They want him assassinated.

/facepalm

It's a shot over the bow that they need to negotiate a better deal.

What is the cost of securing Trump Tower? How does that compare to the cost of the new Airforce One planes?

Securing Trump Tower costs about one millions dollars a day so it depends on how long they will be doing it. If it is just until the end of the school year I doubt most rational people will complain. If it is four years then we are talking close to 1.5 Billion for an unnecessary and frivolous accomadation whereas a modern Air Force One is a necessary matter of national security.

I absolutely agree that some within that group definitely would like to see that...And they probably think we thought the same of Obama, it would shock them to their core to find out that when debating in person with people over the last 8 years, I would start out with saying that we need to pray that nothing bad happens to Obama.....Think they would do the same?

Securing the President is a matter of National security as well.

I believe most people know that. His issue is not the $4 billion, it is the $1 billion overrun. Boeing knew what it would take to build a fleet of this magnitude, and they won the contract based on the $3 billion price they bid. Now, after the contract has been signed, they are saying they were just kidding and want to charge the Government anything they wish.

I say it is about time the business as usual practice of screwing over the taxpayer comes to an end. It is about time someone looked out for the interest of the average Joe, instead of making sure the elites are padding each other's pockets.

See, Obama would look at it and say, "Hmmm... $4 billion for a few planes? Looks good to me, go ahead!"
So did Congressional Republicans.

Anyway, these will not be just a "few planes." They are floating White Houses. They need special communication equipment; they need to be hardened against EMP blasts; they need to be refueled in flight; they need to be able to avoid anti-aircraft missiles...

Of course, if he wants to get a bid from Airbus, by all means, let's go for it. I'm sure that a European-made plane will be cheaper. Or maybe Lockheed-Martin can build a new plane in India for the next President.

By the way, the current plane is 30 years old, and desperately needs to be replaced. There are only a handful of that model around, so they need to constantly custom-make replacement parts. The replacement is already going to take years, and renegotiating will only cause more delays, which will increase costs. You'd think someone who works in construction would understand that.

But hey, we are ruling the nation by platitude and sound-bite now, right? Right. I'm sure he can just fly first class everywhere.

Yes it is. I'm not saying we shouldn't spend that million dollars a day to protect Trump and his family if he decides to work from NY. I'm saying if he wants to be fiscally responsible he should minimize the time he works from NY. It is of course his choice.

Now, but once he is sworn in, that cost could change drastically especially if he wanted to live there as his primary residence. It would also be a PITA for NYC because 5th Avenue is a very heavy traffic area due to the park and the museums further up.

And he may do that....Everything right now is in a state of flux wouldn't you agree?

They certainly would not!...lol

If Trump saved a bunch of babies from a burning car liberals would bitch about it.
