California regulates cow farts

What's arbitrary about it?

They could say pigs or chickens produce more why are they not being charged.
Better yet there are far more humans so where is sir tax on humans farting?

There are plenty of arguments hey can make.

Wait, methane? I thought co2 was causing global warming.

Well, look for dairy prices to increase as farming operations shut down or leave the state. Libs, always looking out for the little guy.

Why would prices go up? Our cattle are allowed to fart all they want, might have something to do with the beans we feed em, but we like it.

If they were truly that concerned the politicians in California should just shut the hell up, think of all the hot air that would not be expended. Don't they love the environment?

If the cost of raising cattle goes up, so will prices.

They are California cattle, we have plenty here in Texas don't need any of their fart free beef. Besides I thought California was leaving the Union, they still here? Why haven't we closed the border? I am thinking wall, a Really Big Wall ?

I am a socialist who wonders if the politicians of California understand that their dairy industry is in big trouble, and might collapse. I also notice that you dont seem to know what you are talking about, and that you keep showing up empty handed(evidence). I consider my point proven.

I have been a rancher for over 20 years TYVM, i do know what i'm talking about. I cite my references, you can look it up. Your egg 'evidence' was used against you, your other bit of 'evidence' is an east coast city dwellers OP-ED

Go look at the INDUSTRY's own websites for both egg prices in California and dairy world wide production and consumption. (You were quite eager to find 'evidence' when it sduited your view now try and find the REAL FACTS, it will do you good.

Of course California's dairy industry is in trouble, same as California's suburban sprawl trying to look like Virginia rather than the semi arid climate it is. YUGE amounts of resources are required to produce milk or uber green lawns with eastern trees. I studied this as part of my animal husbandry training- dairy just is too luxuriant a 'crop' for the region.

Oklahoma is too dry to grow rice without YUGE expenditures of natural resources so we don't do it...why is this simple concept so difficult for you to understand???

You may consider your point 'proven' but i doubt many others agree... :peace

So, do you like regular or extra farty beef?

So California wants all the dairy farmers in the state to install $4 million methane digesters?? Do they really think dairy farmers, already being squeezed by the high costs of doing business in that state, will be able to afford them?? If the state pays for them, they need to come up with $7,000,000,000.

California dairies received almost $500 million in subsidies over the last ten years. Now Brown will be asking the Feds to increase that so that California dairies don't leave or go out of business.

How about no.

I remember a California state lawmaker being interviewed a few years ago. The one comment that struck me was her belief that the nation considers the California legislature as a leader and example for the country. Little did she know what the nation actually thinks.

How many cattle do you think there are in the world?

How much methane do you think all those cattle produce?

Would like to be closed into a room and breath that methane, or would that kinda not be good for you?

Termites out methane cattle. Time to exterminate them wherever they are living...

CO2 is causing global warming. Methane is a far more effective greenhouse gas however, there's just much less of it.

Yep. The headline should actually read: "Brown puts CA dairy farmers out of business: "GTFO!" Says Brown"

Climate change induced drought is a far larger threat to CA dairy farmers than this.

At one time they were - freeways were being built, dams and water infrastructure, military bases and factories, Hollywood. California was ground zero for progress.

Now most Californian's have left and the immigrant population has lost connection with the state, per se. They just survive there, trying to get by. There are slivers of the population making a ton of money, but most are barely getting by. It's not uncommon in San Jose, for example, for people to live in their cars where they work and go back to the central valley on weekends. Even businesses can't afford to pay an honest wage that keeps a resident alive!

Rule making, implementation, and enforcement is California's biggest industry.

Then you choose climate over people.

Choosing climate is choosing people.

That's quite a cultish viewpoint, but environment won't pay the farmers bills will it.

Lol the environment is exactly what pays farmers bills.

Yeah, starving people.

Climate change affects all people. Although yeah, it does affect people in poorer countries who are more likely to be starving.

Not dairy farmers, which this thread is about, if you forgotten.

I hadn't forgotten. It pays their bills too.

What do you think cows eat/drink?

What do you think cows drink?

Water doesn't pay the bills, which is what cows drink.
