This what happens when you give the government too much power (and the government are idiots).
You can leave off the parenthetical.

Hmm, im noticing a pattern between free healthcare and people fleeing in boats.
Not even a little bit comparable, and you should know that. Denmark has a thriving capitalist economy. Venezuela's was crushed, intentionally.
Doesn't Denmark have in place most of the "socialistic" ideas that Bernie Sanders is promoting?
I don't think Venezuela's economy was crushed intentionally, it was done by a misguided experiment in real socialism, not the "socialism" of Denmark or Social Democrat Bernie Sanders.
The capitalist economy was. You obviously know the difference between the socialism of Venezuela and the welfare capitalism of Denmark, so why conflate the two?
If Venezuela's troubles are really due to a left wing redistribution of wealth, why aren't hungry people fleeing Denmark?
What I'm trying to do is show that they aren't the same thing.
If you're trying to show they aren't the same thing, then why did you ask your original question above?
Because the word "socialism" is being used to describe the sort of society that exists in places like Denmark, and because the problems in Venezuela are attributed to "leftist policy" or "liberalism."
Nobody said anything about Denmark before you did, and what happened in Venezuela was most definitely Leftist policy. You said so yourself.
It's more than leftist policy. It's socialism. That's the point.
What, you're saying socialism isn't Leftist?
