Green Party raises $2.5 million for presidential election recount in Wisconsin

You know, they could house a lot of homeless veterans with 2.5 million dollars.

That's more money than Hillary would be paid for being president for 4 years. Why don't they just give Hillary the cash and call it a day?

LOL!
Yeah, I don't get why everyone is bending over backwards to accomodate Hillary. She ran a ****ty campaign. This is sore loser of epic proportions but even people who have nothing to gain are getting involved. Jill Stein herself denounced Hillary.

All this really does is destroys the remaining credibility of the Green party candidate. Hell..a.t least Johnson exposed himself as a clown BEFORE the election.

Jill Stein wants to HELP Hillary Clinton. THIS Jill Stein...

"I join millions of Americans who see Hillary Clinton's campaign as the opposite of what they and Bernie Sanders have fought for. Despite her penchant for flip flopping rhetoric, Hillary Clinton has spent decades consistently serving the causes of Wall Street, war and the Walmart economy. The policies she fought for - along with her husband and political partner, Bill Clinton - have been foundations of the economic disaster most Americans are still struggling with: the abuses of deregulated Wall Street, rigged corporate trade agreements, racist mass incarceration, and the destruction of the social safety net for poor women and children. The consistent efforts of the Democratic Party to minimize, sideline, and sabotage the Sanders campaign are a wake up call that we can't have a revolutionary campaign inside a counter-revolutionary party."

I know, as well as the fact that Democratic voter turnout was consistently low across the board. Stein has a level of optimism I don't share, but I do see the potential scenarios as interesting.

Might be more interesting if it were atleast possible. I think the electoral college picking someone else is much more interesting even if it's more improbable that a recount flipping multiple states. I've seen that secanrio described, wrongly, as unlawful, illegitimate and anti-constitutional. Which is funny since that electors ignoring the wishes of the majority to elect someone who they think is better suited to be president is one of the main reasons why the electoral exists in the first place.

Imagine, another liberal rolling over for big banks. Say it ain't so.

It would be politically disastrous for the Clinton campaign to move for a recount at this late date. My suspicion is that a Clinton backer is bankrolling this action through Stein so that the Clinton campaign wouldn't have to make that motion. If the Clinton campaign wants a recount they will have to step up and make the motion. Stein has no standing and no legal position to demand a recount in any of those states. Stein's vote count isn't close enough to any of the candidates to justify a recount.

Probably a mistake on my part to have voted for her, honestly.

Nonetheless Wisconsin has appeared to accept the reality of a recount.

Yeah, it's remarkable how liberals rail and rail against those big banks but then couldn't flop all over themselves fast enough to support Wall ST.

Heck, Hillary Clinton invoked 9-11 to justify being a wall street crony and Bernie Sanders lauded the decision!

Well, in the spirit of socialism, I hereby announce that that money should be confiscated, because I can do far more worthwhile and useful things with it than have votes recounted.

Vote for me 'cause I'm a woman....and 9/11! That was hilarious.

All of this just reminds me of petulant children pounding the table and throwing a temper tantrum saying over and over, "No, it's not true".....lol

Jill Stein pushes for a recount so it was a mistake for you to have voted for Clinton? Wut?

The Governess obviously voted for Jill Stein. In your increasingly incoherent and deranged state, your reading comprehension skills are rapidly deteriorating. Trump won. Calm down.

Not Clinton. Jill Stein.

Thanks for the correction. I used to be rather fond of Stein myself, but found her choice of strategy to be increasingly erratic and ill-timed. She seemed to be more interested in fighting than in the wisdom of the time and place to fight. I don't think she's very good at picking her battles.

So how many people here have actually been to those states? The fact is unless the cities in those states pull them blue they're red as ****. I actually enjoy the fact that Philadelphia failed to override the opinion of the majority of the state.

Trump is ahead in Wisconsin by 27,210 votes. That's not "red as ****."

Trump supporters would be absolutely pissed. And rightly so.

There's a thingy about elections that all the votes of the voters are examined. It's always the case some get tossed because someone left a bright electronic light blank next to a name, and that someone else with a paper ballot circled the box instead of put an X in it.

Doubt very much the recount will change the outcome, but if I were a clerk with the elections commission and someone offered to pay me time and a half to recount numbers I'd probably take it.

It is just always true the side with the fewer votes doesn't like the outcome. Oops, Hillary Clinton did get 2 million more Popular Votes nationally, so I'd guess we'll just have to see how this goes.

Another example of your declining ability to think rationally now that the election is ever. He's referring to the cities being very blue and the rest of the state being RED. Please, for the sake of your own health, lay down.

This is part of an ongoing series, titled "Cardinal learns how the underpinnings of American civics works because this has been an insane election cycle in which every institution has been challenged or brought out into the light." In this chapter, Cardinal learns that you can demand a recount if you file the paperwork before the deadline...and bring a bathtub full of money.

When I first learned about this story before going to bed last night Jill Stein had raised $700,000. By the time I woke up I found out she had raised 1.8 million dollars thereby giving her the necessary funds to demand a recount in Wisconsin. At this rate, she may likely be able to raise the money to challenge the results in Michigan and Pennsylvania as well.

I see three possible outcomes out of this extremely risky maneuver:

1)One or two states go to Hillary but ultimately doesn't change the final electoral outcome, but it ends up lessening the symbolic impact of Trump's victory.
2)Every state stays Trump, and Clinton is humiliated as she is forced to replay her demoralizing loss. The symbolism of Trump's victory will increase and any authority the Democrats gained from Clinton winning the popular vote by over two million votes will be erased instantly.
3)Hillary wins, and America's electoral legitimacy is thrown into chaos and doubt. Some Trump supporters will express feelings of resentment.

What say ye?

Green Party raises $2.5 million for presidential election recount in Wisconsin | Reuters

If the first count was wrong, what makes people think the recount will be correct if it changes the original results. Wouldn't one demand a recount of the recount?

The bold is a dangerously unrealistic understatement of massive proportions.

Oh yeah

Let's see....

Let some other candidate try to take the election away from the Trump people

I see nothing but "good" stuff happening with that....

This has got to be one of the most desperate asinine attempts to disrupt an election that I can ever remember

I know democrats are butt hurt....but even I didn't expect this bad of a response
